In the bakery, the oven went ding, Shang put on his oven mitts, opened the oven door, then get the cake pan out of the oven, and put the cake pan on the table.
Tom: Thank you, Shang. We'll let it cool off before we start decorating it.
Shang: Okay.
Tom: And while we wait, I got some pies that needs to be baking. Mulan said that there's one more pie left on display, which is key lime.
Shang: Okay. *He takes two pie pans at a time and put them in the oven. Tom looked over at the fresh baked baguettes. *
Tom: They look ready to be restocked. What do you think?
Shang: (putting two more pie pans in the oven, then closed the oven door) I agree.
Tom: The cake should be cooled by now. *He felt the top a little bit and it's starting to cool off. * A little bit warm. Let's go ahead and make the icing and get the stuff for the Black Forest cake.
Shang: Okay. *Up front, the landline phone ringed, Melanie walked to the receiver, and put it to her ear. *
Melanie: Tom and Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, how can I help you?
Caller: (through the phone) Hi, I'm Francine Durand from Claude Monet High School.
Melanie: (on the phone) Hello. What can o do for you?
Mrs. Durand: (on the phone) Well one of the teachers Ms. Moreau is retiring today. Her retirement was pushed to today since she's at her retirement age, so I would like to request a little celebratory cake for her.
Melanie: (through the phone) Okay. What size cake ado you want for her?
Mrs. Durand: (through the phone, Melanie writing down the order) A chocolate coffee cake is a good choice. With a vanilla buttercream frosting, make it shape like an apple.
Melanie: (on the phone, writing down the request) Okay. What size will the cake be?
Mrs. Durand: (through the phone, Melanie writes down the cake size) 1/4 sheet cake.
Melanie: (on the phone) Okay. A 1/4 chocolate coffee sheet cake. Is that about it?
Mrs. Durand: (on the phone) Yes, and the writing on the cake would say, "Bon Voyage, Ms. Moreau." in light purple writing.
Melanie: (on the phone, writing down the request) Okay. And where is this address?
Mrs. Durand: (on the phone) Lycee Claude-Monet at 1, rue du Docteur-Magnan, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Melanie: (writing down the address) Okay. Thank you for your order, we'll have that ready to go for you, ma'am. Thank you. *She hangs up the phone. *
Sabine: (holding a box of fresh coquettes) We got another delivery?
Melanie: Yes. *She walked through the kitchen where she saw Tom and Shang frosting the Black Forest cake. *
Tom: Oh, Melanie. What'cha got there?
Melanie: (holding out a small piece of paper) Another order, Mrs. Durand, the principal of Lycee Claude-Monet high school, one of the teacher's name Ms. Moreau is retiring this year and she requested a retirement cake for her.
Tom: A retirement cake? Huh. It's not every day we've heard of that before. So, what did she say about what she wanted for the cake? *Melanie handed Tom the order she wrote down and he looked at it. * Hmm... a 1/4 chocolate coffee sheet cake with vanilla buttercream, the cake shaped to be an apple, the writing, "Bon Voyage, Ms. Moreau" in light purple writing. At the Lycee Claude-Monet. Okay, that seems like a promising order.
Shang: (smooths out the frosting around the cake) We're just about halfway done with this cake for you.
Melanie: Okay. 'So far, so good.' *At the Le Grand Paris Hotel, Andre looks through his computer when he looked at the time on his phone. *
Andre: Hmm... it's only 8:45, I guess a little something from the bakery would be okay. *He scrolls through the bakery website, find the delivery phone number, called it, and wait for the other line to answer. *
Back in the bakery, Mushu helped bagged a croissant when he heard the landline phone ringing.
Mushu: Phone's ringing.
Melanie: (leaving the kitchen) Oh, yes. I got it. *She picked up the receiver and talked into it. * Hello, Tom and Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, how can I help you?
Andre: (on the phone) Hello, I am Andre Bourgeois, the mayor of Paris, France. I would like to make a special order request.
Melanie: (on the phone, grabbing a notepad and pen) Okay, sir. What would you like in the bakery?
Andre: (through the phone, Melanie writes the order down) I'll have two loaves of your rosemary baguettes, please? And send it to the Le Grand Paris Hotel.
Melanie: (on the phone, writes down the address) Okay. Two loaves of rosemary baguettes and to be delivered at Le Grand Paris Hotel. Thank you, Mr. Bourgeois, I'll be sure to have that delivered to you. Thank you. *She hangs up the phone. *
Mulan: Who is it this time?
Melanie: (looking at the notepad) From Mr. Bourgeois. He wants two loaves of the rosemary baguettes.
Sabine: Oh, I think we have some for him. I'll go check.
Melanie: Okay. *Sabine leaves the register station and checks on the baguettes. *
Sabine: Hah! Just our luck, we got the last two of the rosemary baguettes.
Mulan: Well, that's good.
Melanie: 'Thank goodness.'
Sabine: I'll bag them up for you, Melanie.
Melanie: Thank you, Sabine. *Sabine starts bagging up the order. At College Francois DuPont, in Ms. Trussel's class, Ms. Trussel reads quietly as the students are turning in their tests before the bell rings. Alix filled in the last answer, Carlos turned in his test paper, and Marinette put her pencil down and walked up to Ms. Trussel's desk. *
Ms. Trussel: Thank you, Marinette. *Marinette bowed her head as a sign for saying, "you're welcome.", then she sits back down to her seat. * 3 more minutes, class. Take your time with it.
Alya: (whispers, putting her pencil down) Done. *She stands up, walks over to Ms. Trussel's desk, and puts the test paper down. *
Ms. Trussel: Thank you, Alya.
Alya: You're welcome. *She walked back to her desk and sat quietly. *
Ms. Trussel: Thank you, Mylene. Thank you, Nicole. Thank you, Adrien.
Nino: (whispered) That test was easy, especially when you do an open notes test.
Adrien: (whispered) Yeah.
Ms. Trussel: 2 more minutes. *Kim erased the previous answer and calculated the problem again. *
Kim: 'Come on. This should be easy to do. Why did I put away my notebook even though it's an open-note test. Should've known better.' *Sabrina turned in her test papers to Ms. Trussel, then Juleka, Nathaniel, Trevor, and Ivan. *
Ms. Trussel: One more minute. *Kim just puts a random guess on the last question, then go up to Ms. Trussel's desk, and turned in his test paper. * Thank you, Kim. Okay, time's up. Please turn in your test papers, I'll grade them and hand them back to you tomorrow. *The remaining students got up from their seats and turned in their seats. * Since we got 10 minute soft class left, you can use this opportunity to do something productive, but the noise level has to be a minimum, not an echo voice, okay? *Everyone said okay to Ms. Trussel. * Good. *They started either talking to one another or getting their phones out. *
In Mr. Bentley's history class, Mr. Bentley went over the topic: The Enlightenment.
Mr. Bentley: Enlightenment, an 18th century period in European history that emphasized reason, secularism, individualism, and skepticism by these three topics: Philosophers, Religion, and Notable figures. *He writes down the three topics and underlines them both. * The Enlightenment Philosophers rejected superstition and were often anti-clerical, instead embracing science, logic, and reason. *He writes that under the Philosophers. * Religion is when the Enlightenment thinkers challenged religious orthodoxy, and many supported Deism, the belief that God and nature are one. *He writes that down under Religion. * And Notable figures, there are a few that we may know or have heard of. Like, Isaac Newton, a major figure of the Enlightenment, discovered calculus and the laws of gravity. John Locke, another notable figure, helped develop the idea of the social contract. *He writes that down under Notable figures. * Hope you're all taking notes of this because there will be a quiz on chapter 1 by next week. *A few exclaimed at that. *
Blu: This is a bust. 'I hate quizzes.'
Mr. Bentley: Hey, stop with the moaning. It's important to know these things so we can have a better understanding in life and know this stuff when you guys all graduate from high school and move on with your lives, if you have plans after your learning life. You'll need to learn this stuff. Now, where was I? Oh, yes. *He looks through his textbook and keeps teaching his class, Blu twiddle his pencil in boredom and he looked over at a girl a few seats over, he sighed, and looked away too. At the Hotel, the Winxs, Lovelix, Olixs, Majorixs, and Regalixs were busy working at their positions at the Hotel and Mayor Bourgeois monitors their position, seeing how well they're doing so far. Soon, his phone rang, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, and saw it was Audrey. *
Andre: (on the phone) Oh Audrey, dear. Have you landed?
Audrey: (through the phone) Yes, I have. My flight back home has landed earlier than expected. I'm at the airport. Come and pick me up, okay?
Andre: (on the phone) Of course, my darling. I'll be there shortly. Bye. *He hangs up the phone and puts the phone back in his pocket. * Girls. *They looked at Mayor Bourgeois. *
Bloom: What is it, Mr. Bourgeois?
Andre: My wife's plane has landed and I have to pick her up at the Airport. I'll be right back from the airport. Just keep doing what you do until I get back.
Bloom: Okay, sir. *Andre walked out of the Hotel, he saw his limo pulled up, he gets in as he told the driver to take him to the Airport. In the bakery, Tom came out with the decorated Black Forest cake that's already decorated. *
Tom: Here we go. The Black Forest cake. *Melanie, Sabine, and Mulan looked at the cake Tom and Shang had decorated. *
Sabine: That looks great, Tom.
Tom: I didn't do it alone, Shang helped me with it.
Mulan: That's really nice.
Tom: We'll just have to box it up.
Melanie: I can do that. *She gets a flat box, she assembles it, and Tom carefully places the cake inside it, and she closes up the box. * Thank you.
Tom: You're welcome. Here's the order information to the cake you're delivering it to. *He places the order info on top of the box, Melanie looked at the info, and nodded her head yes. *
Melanie: Okay. I'll be right back. *She takes the box with the Black Forest cake inside, she leaves the bakery, heads to the delivery van, puts the box inside, closes the door, and start to drive off to the delivery stop. * Okay, so to Melinda's address. *Back in the bakery, Tom looked at the next order. *
Tom: Okay, so we're gonna make a chocolate coffee cake for a teacher's retirement party.
Shang: Have you ever made a chocolate coffee cake?
Tom: (stroking his chin) I have made a coffee cake before, I'm sure making a chocolate coffee cake will be easy to do.
Shang: Okay.
Tom: I got the recipes here. *He pulled out a card box of some sweet recipes, he goes through them carefully, and finds a chocolate coffee cake recipe. * Right here. We need some cake flour, granulated & dark brown sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, espresso powder, a stick of butter, and two eggs. Would you mind getting those ingredients?
Shang: Okay. *He starts getting the ingredients for the chocolate coffee cake as Tom gets the pans, bowls, measuring cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, and spoons. Then, they both get started on making the batter for the cake. *
In Marin's bedroom, he's getting done with his statistics assignment on Canvas, he puts in the last question, clicked enter, and the answer was correct.
Marin: Phew. That was a tough one. Let's see what my results is. *He clicked the end and see that he got 10/10 on his assignment. * Another perfect assignment. *He got out of his statistics work page and moved on to English Composition I. * Okay, done statistics, now to English Composition I class. *He closed his notebook, got out his English Composition I notebook, and scrolled through his class to the assignment page. * Okay, here it is. *He clicked on the assignment and read the directions. * "Write a short 1 paragraph essay about your farewell in High School. Please provide how you feel about your departure, what was your favorite high school memory, and what was your goal in life before you graduate high school." That's easy to do. *He clicked his pen. * I'll write out my essay and then type it up. *He starts writing out his essay draft before typing it out on the computer. At Public Elementary School Saint-Jacques, in Ms. Myers' classroom, Ms. Myers looked over at the students cursive tracing. *
Ms. Myers: I'm very impressed by your cursive tracing, everyone. I think you're all getting the hang of it, which you all are actually. I'll be so kind to collect your papers and grade your progress. Then, maybe give them back to you all by the end of the day or tomorrow, the latest. *They all understand it. Then, she starts collecting their assignments and puts them on her desk. * Now, today I decided to share you all a book I've wanted to share with you all. *She goes to the bookshelf, pulls out a book, and shows them the book in her hand. * This book is called, "Just try one bite." Come to the carpet, everyone. *They all stand up, walked to the counter, and sat down too. * Okay. Just try one bite. Written by Adam Mansbach & Camila Alves McConaughey. Illustrated by Mike Boldt. *She opened the book and started reading to everyone. *
At the College Francois DuPont, the school bell ringed meaning first period is over.
Ms. Trussel: Class dismissed, have a good rest of your day, everyone. *Everyone started gathering all of their stuff and left the classroom and head to the hallways. *
Janelle: (to Kelly) That test was literary too easy.
Kim: I just hope I passed the test.
Max: (comforted Kim) I'm sure you will, Kim. Just have a bit of a positive attitude.
Kim: Okay.
Alya: (walking down the stairs) I thought the test was easy. How do you think you did?
Marinette: I did pretty well, since it's an open notes test, I think everyone should get a decent score on the test.
Alya: Let's not forget that it was optional if you want to use your notes on the test. Just hope the ones who didn't use their notes at least pass the test.
Marinette: Yeah. *They stopped at the lockers and got their stuff for their next class. *
Alya: Mr. Thomas would be a fun teacher.
Marinette: True. *Soon, Sabrina was walking with Delmar, when an arm pulled her aside, Delmar looked to where Sabrina was at. He was confused at what happened. *
Sabrina: Chloe?
Chloe: Look, I'm only saying this for your safety and among myself at any case, but I don't like where this so-called friendship with Marinette is going for you.
Sabrina: Why do you say that?
Chloe: (looking at her nails) Because you already know I don't like Marinette nor will I ever associate her. Not in a million years. But for you, you're being all chummy with her other peers. Blegh.
Sabrina: But isn't this what you wanted me to do? You said it would be okay for me to be friends with them.
Chloe: (rolled her eyes, annoyed) I did say that, but you must know. She's not rich like me, she doesn't provide anything valuable to your liking nor even have a famous parents like mine.
Sabrina: (looking down) Oh. I guess she doesn't.
Chloe: That's what I meant.
Sabrina: But I think I'm starting to warm up to the others you belittle and I'm learning from my past regret when I'm with you. I thought if that's what you want me to do, maybe turn a new leaf.
Chloe: (scoffed) So you just prioritize Dupain-Cheng's nice cooties over your lifelong best friends' hospitality.
Sabrina: That's not what I meant, Chloe. Honest.
Chloe: Ugh, you're so incompetent. I can't believe you're choosing somebody so pathetic and foolish as your best friend! Marinette can't give you a fraction of what I can! She's probably planning on using you! You know how much she hates me. She's probably going to lead you down the wrong path.
Sabrina: But Chloe, she...
Chloe: I don't want to hear it. I've given you all of my time, attention, and
