Chapter 10- The last dance.

Elena and Bonnie are with a lawyer. Elena is signing papers.

"Please sign here and here." The lawyer pointed. Elena took the pen. "Okay.''

"So this place is all yours? They just gave it to you?" Bonnie asked.

"For now. As sole owner, I'm the only one who can invite a certain type of person in here, if you know what I mean." The doppelgänger hinted.

"Your safe house."
"That's the idea"
"Wouldn't want to clean it." Elena laughed.

"You think Bonnie can take on Klaus?" Damon asked.

"She said she could channel enough witch's power to kill him. Elijah thought that would work and he was an Original, so..." Stefan trailed off.

"We just need to find him." Damon finished.

"Yeah."

"Could she do one of those witch tracking spells?" He asked again.

"Nope. Not without something that belongs to Klaus. Believe me, I already asked."

"Hey, if Elijah and Klaus are both Originals. Wouldn't that mean they had a type of relationship or something?" Selene asked.

The brothers shared a look.

"Do you think he killed her?"

"Katherine? Probably." He guessed.

"It's not like she didn't have it coming." Damon said.

Elena opened the door. The lawyer left, as Selene entered the mansion.

"Thank you, Mr. Henry," Elena said.
Stefan and Damon walked to the threshold but an invisible force kept them out.

"Thanks." Elena grabbed her bag.

"Wait, where are you going?" Stefan asked, stopping her.

"To school."

"Huh?"

"No, no, no. We didn't create a safe house for you to leave it." Damon said.

"Yeah, guys, Klaus is out there. We know that." Stefan said.

"Right. But where? No one knows. Look, I really appreciate what you guys are doing. And I'll be able to sleep at night knowing that I'll be safe here, but I'm not going to be a prisoner." Elena replied. She looked at Damon.

"Tsk. Your way, Elena." He gave up.

"Don't worry, I'm ready. If he shows his face, I can take him. I know I can." Bonnie threatened.

"The way I see it, next to Bonnie is the safest place that I can be. Come on." They left. Stefan looked at Selene and Damon.

"Wait, um, coming." He left with them."

They grow up so fast!" Selene sniffles wiping away a fake tear.

Selene, Stefan, Damon, Bonnie and Elena were in the living room.

"So we go to the dance, we find him." Damon explained.

"Really? How are we going to do that? We don't even know what he looks like." Stefan pointed out.

"Something tells me he's not going to be sixteen and pimply."

"He could be anywhere at any time. He compelled somebody at school." Stefan looked at Elena and Bonnie. "I guess it's not as safe as you guys thought, huh?"

Someone knocked on the door. Alaric/Klaus entered.

"There you are." Damon greeted.

"Sorry I'm late." He apologised.

"Hey, I need you to put Selene and I down as a chaperone at the dance tonight. Klaus made his first move." He told Alaric.

"Woah, who said I'm going?" Selene held up her hand.

"Me." Damon said pointing to himself.

"Okay, so we find him and then what, hmm? What's our plan of attack?" Elena asked.

"Me. I'm the plan. He has no idea how much power I can channel. If you can find him, I can kill him." Bonnie said.

"That's not going to be that easy. I mean, he is the biggest, baddest vampire around." Alaric complimented.

"Alaric has a point. I mean, what if he..." Damon rushed at Bonnie but she threw him on the other side of the room with her powers, without touching him.

"Do it again!" Selene shouted laughing, earning a glare from Damon and a staggered look from Alaric.

It was the 60s decade dance. Everyone's dancing. Selene walked in hand in hand with Damon. She was wearing a orange floral mini dress, her auburn hair, which was straightened and not in it's usual Dutch braids, was pushed back by a headband.

Bonnie embraced Jeremy and walked towards the pair.

"Selene, Damon" She greeted.

"Evenin." Damon replied while Selene just nodded.

They wenr inside. Elena and Stefan arrived and walked up to Bonnie and Jeremy.

"Hey you two. Oh, you look nice." Elena complimented, as she embraced Bonnie.

"You too."

"You guys ready to do this?" Stefan asked.
Inside everyone was dancing. Dana went onto the stage and spoke into the microphone.

"Thanks for being here, everybody. We have a special shout-out tonight."

Elena, Stefan, Selene, Bonnie, Jeremy and Damon stop in front of the stage.

"This is for Selene. From Klaus."

"Until I found you" by Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold, started playing. Selene seemed stunned. Alaric looks happy.

"That was a lame, cheap shot. He's just trying to bait us." Damon said.

"We know everyone here." Elena said.

"Maybe he's not here. Just wants us to believe that he is."

"It's a party, people. Blend. Let him come to us." Damon said.

"Good idea." Bonnie agreed. She took Jeremy's arm.

"No, no, I really don't feel like dancing." He argued. "Too bad."
They go on the dance floor. Damon saw Alaric.

"There's Ric. I'll be back." He leaves Selene and walks away.

Not knowing what to do the Witch strolls towards her blonde best friend spotting her near the drinks.

She was dressed in a pink blazer and skirt that reached her thighs and her hair was styled in a flipped Bob as it was accessorised with a black berret. She wore a bright pearl necklace, and deep purple gloves.

"Wanna dance?" Selene asked, holding out her hand her ring shimmering in the light.

Caroline let out a smile as she placed down her cup and took Selene's hand gracefully. "I'm a terrible dancer, by the way," Selene warned.
"Just follow me, you'll get the hang of it." Caroline smiled.

"Special dedication, huh? This guy's a little twisted."

"I'm not impressed." Damon degraded as Alaric/Klaus looks disappointed and looks at Damon.

"No?" He asks.

Klaus's gaze was set on the dance floor, specifically on his 'Little Witch' who, seemed to be having the time of her life. His plans weren't working, sure Elena was terrified. But his shoutout didn't seem to have an affect on her.

"Let me know if you see anything out of whack." Damon ordered, interrupting Klaus's train of thought.

"You look really pretty tonight." Selene complimented.

"You think so?" Caroline lightened up.

"Hey, guys." Just as Selene was about to speak, Stefan joined the conversation.

"Hey Stef, what's up?" Care asks.

"Klaus is here." He says.

"What?!" Care whispered.

"Yeah. We have no idea where. But keep your eye out for anything that might be weird, okay?" Stefan leaves.

"Jeremy, what are you doing? Elena thinks we should stick together. Are you okay?" Stefan asks Jeremy.
The Witch and vampire were dragged into the hallway by Jeremy, who looked very nervous.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I've got my ring. It's...it's Bonnie." Jeremy stuttered.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Selene asks, worried.

"If Bonnie takes on Klaus, channeling all that energy's going to kill her."

"What?" Stefan and Selene chorus.

"But she doesn't want Elena to know, 'cause if Elena knows, she's gonna try to stop her. And it's Elena that could turn up dead, so...What am I supposed to do?" He panicks.

"How could you not tell us?"

"Cause I knew how'd you react." Bonnie reasons.

"No. No way, it's not an option." Elena denies.

"It's our only option."

"Then we'll find another way, okay? Bonnie, you're not dying to save my life."

"I have the power to save you! If I don't use it and something happens, that would kill me more."

"I can't let you." Elena stopped.

"Just answer one question...if the situation was reversed, would you do it for me?" Elena doesn't answer. "So you know why I have to."

"No. No!"

"Why don't we just sedate him or something." Selene interrupts.

Alaric/Klaus runs up to Bonnie, Selene and Elena outside.

"Elena!" He screams.

"What is it?" She answers.

"He has Jeremy."

"What?"

"Yeah, Klaus has Jeremy. Come on." They follow him through a side door and into a hallway.

"Okay, so where are you taking us?" Elena asks.

"Just a little further." He pushes.

"Wait...Something's not right." She stops.

"Where's Jeremy?"

Alaric/Klaus stops walking and laughs.

"I just had to get away from that dance. The sixties, ugh. Not my decade." He laughs. "I mean, whose call was that, anyway? I much prefer the twenties. The style, the parties, the jazz. You would've loved it, Darling." He winks at Selene who takes a step back.

"Alaric. Are you on vervain?"

"Now why would you ask me that question, Elena?"

"He's being compelled." She guesses.

"Nope. Try again." He encouraged.

"What's going on?"

"Okay, I'll give you a hint. I am not Alaric."

"Klaus!"
Alaric/Klaus smiles broadly.

"Surprise!"

"Oh, no. No, it's not possible." Elena repeats.

"Just relax, Elena. I'm not here to hurt you. You're not on my hit list tonight." He turns to Selene who stood infront of Bonnie. "You'd never be on my hit list sweetheart."

He looks at Bonnie. "But you are." He starts towards Bonnie but she throws him against the wall with her powers. He gets up.

"Now, did I mention that I knew a witch? You're gonna have to hit me a lot harder than that." He rushes over to her gets flung against a display case, smashing the glass but this time by Selene. He falls to the ground but laughs.

"By all means...Fire away!" He gets up. "If you kill this body, I'll just get a new one. Maybe Jeremy, or Eric."

"Ew dude. You were flirting with me two seconds ago now you want to take over my dad's body?" Selene asks in disgust.

"Go. Run. Run!" Bonnie orders. They run. Bonnie closes the doors with her powers. Damon runs through another pair of doors and joins them.

"What happened?' He asks.

"Klaus is in Alaric's body."
"What?"
"He's possessing it or something."

He looks at Elena and Selene. "Go find Stefan. Now."

"Okay." Elena complies.
"Now."

She leaves. "Can you kill him?" He asks.

"He's got some kind of protection spell on him."
"You have the power of a hundred witches. Break it." He says.

"I'm trying! If I kill Alaric, he'll just possess someone else. He knows I have my power, Damon. He's trying to kill me." She explains.

"No. Klaus does not get to win tonight, no way. You still willing to do whatever it takes to kill him?" He asks.

Bonnie is in the hallway, alone. She walks determinedly through the hallway. She enters the cafeteria. Alaric/Klaus is sitting in a chair, a knife in between this fingers. He wiggles the knife as he speaks. "What took you so long? Now, do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way?"

She breaks his wrist of the hand holding the knife with her powers. The knife drops onto the floor. He grabs his hand and twists it with a jerk back into place. "The hard way. Got it."
He gets up. She breaks his shoulder with her powers. He groans. "What? You'd kill your favorite history teacher?"

"It's what Alaric would want. And he'd want you to suffer first." Blood starts leaking from one of her nostrils.

"Look at you." He taunts.

She wipes her nose.

"Is that all you got?"

"Let's find out." She pushes.

*******

Selene, Elena and Stefan are running in the hallway. Damon walks out a door in front of them. "There you are."

"What are you doing? Where's Bonnie?" Elena asks.

"She's doing what she has to do." Damon replies.

"What?"

"Where is she?" Stefan asks.

"Stefan, let her do this." Damon warns.

"Damn it, Damon, where is she?!" Stefan shouts.

Bonnie is still fighting Alaric/Klaus with her powers. She breaks his leg. The lights flicker and a gust of wind sends papers flying. Her nose is bleeding a lot. She breaks Alaric/Klaus' foot and he falls to the floor. Elena, Selene and Stefan arrive. Bonnie shuts the doors so they can't come in.

"Bonnie, no!" Elena screams.

Alaric/Klaus is crawling on the floor. Bonnie fights Alaric/Klaus and lights start bursting, sending a shower of sparks raining down. Elena screams. Stefan tries to open the doors but he can't, so Selene throws an orb, the door moves a bit but doesn't open. Bonnie looks at Elena with a smile. Alaric/Klaus gets up and Bonnie faces him. Suddenly with a jerk of her body she bends back and falls on the floor. Elena and Stefan open the doors and rush over Bonnie in the now dark room. Alaric/Klaus left, but not before taking his soulmate with him.

Selene was staring at Bonnie's unconscious body, but before she knew it, she was at Alaric's house.

Looking at her surroundings she realised she'd never noticed how dull Alaric's home was. Most of his interior was brown, his curtains were pulled foward stopping the moonlight from reflecting through his dirty windows.

Klaus's hand was wrapped around her waist, her reflexes kicking in she kicked him where the sun don't shine, causing him to let go of her and lean onto the wall.

"Bloody hell!" He whispered.

"Stay away from me, you- you jerk." She grabbed the dagger that was strapped to her thigh.

"Ouch, was that supposed to offend me?" He laughed, "Also, I'm trying my best to be polite but if you move that dagger even one centimetre closer to me, I will put you to sleep, Love," He spoke calmly.

"Did you just threaten me?" She asked, moving the dagger more than a centimetre towards him.

A bedroom door opened alerting both the supernatural's and out walked Katherine Pierce, with a bottle of wine in her hand. Looking up she was met with a relieved Selene and a pained Klaus.

"What the-" She didn't get to finish her sentence as her neck was snapped by a blur.

"What'd you do that for?" Selene asked, shocked.

"She annoyed me," Klaus deadpaned.

A/N: It's been a while since I've updated but here we are. I'll probably update like once a week or every other week.
