So. Just my luck. We were flying into the Bermuda Triangle again. Yay. I kept my eyes on the planes ahead of me. I saw that they were the Moonstone Crew and in the very front, the first in line following the Captains' plane, was the Opal Crew. Behind us should be the Quartz Crew, and behind the Quartz Crew should be the Platinum Crew. Very confusing, but okay.
"Uh, Emmeline?" Eveline's words shattered my thoughts. I kept looking ahead.
"Yes?" I replied. Eveline was silent for a while.
"Do you think we're ready?" She asked. A voice piped up from the back.
"Eveline, don't say those things! We are ready, and we all know it." It was Katherine who said that. I could hear all of my others friends murmuring in agreement.
"Fine." Eveline sighs. I return to quietly staring at the plane ahead of me, until an announcement came over the radio.
"We have arrived in the Bermuda Triangle. Please remain calm. Thank you. End." Andrews voice said. I took a big deep breath. Here we go. The Bermuda Triangle, we're here. Then, Andrew spoke again.
"You may break from the line. But stay with your Crew Planes. Follow the front. Thank you. End." I could tell that from his shaky voice, Andrew was also apparently scared. I took another deep breath.
Swerving around the other formations, I came to where I had last seen the storm. Today was a bright sunny day, so I didn't have to worry about another storm.
"Keep watch of the two other planes, will you guys?" I asked the back.
"Of course." They answered. I could hear them walking to the very back. But I still kept my eyes on where I was flying to.
Then, I saw her. Charybdis. The whirlpool monster. Yes, Charybdis is a girl. Don't say I'm wrong. I read a lot of Greek mythology books. Anyway, I saw an army of little dots surrounding her. I flew closer. They were sea monsters.
Suddenly, and explosion came out of nowhere. A bomb exploded on the sea monsters, and some of them disappeared. A plane from the Quartz Crew had dropped a bomb on them, directly.
"Caroline, can you load the cannon with cannonballs?" Eveline asked.
"Okay!" Caroline's voice called back. I swerved around other bombs, trying to get as far away from sea as I could. But the sea monsters didn't just hang around getting bombed, they sent up their own reinforcements.
Waterspouts and other tinier whirlpools appeared, and spun in the direction of all the planes. We scattered as they hit the spot we've just been. I heard a cry of laughter as a waterspout sucked in a plane.
"Oh no, you don't laugh yet, missy! We'll bomb you in your whirlpool face!" I screamed. My thoughts returned to the trouble that Charybdis had caused me. I flew on top of her.
"Hold on, guys!" I shouted as I hit the button RELEASE. A bunch of our cannons fired into the whirlpool. I heard Charybdis shriek with agony as she was struck. Her armies scattered, but they didn't give up.
"KETO!!!" Charybdis's voice screeched. It took me a couple of minutes to remember who she was again. Keto was the goddess of all sea monsters, plus being the mother of all of them. Poor Keto. But now I didn't care. As soon as Keto surfaced on the water, I sent bombs crashing down.
Keto screamed in fury and agony. I quickly flew away as a waterspout turned in my direction. Good thing my mom wasn't here. I'll bet that she would be screaming and telling me to go back.
"GET THEM!" Charybdis's voice rumbled. "I WANT TO SEE THE TWO SISTERS DEAD!!!" Suddenly, Charybdis gasped. The whirlpool turned more white.
"The sisters two of the future,"
"Will be the ones to know the past,"
"For they will be the chosen ones,"
"Of a future they cannot surpass."
I glanced at Eveline for a brief moment. Her mouth was a perfect tiny O.
"There-there's a prophecy about us?" She glanced at me. I turned back to the front.
"The battle is not over yet. It says that We will be the chosen ones, of a future we cannot surpass. That's supposed to mean that we can't have a good future. Wow. Thanks." I say sarcastically.
"Okay." Eveline says, shrugging. Then, a bomb swerved out of it's target, and I swung to avoid it.
"Is the other planes okay?" I asked the back.
"Yes." Audrey replied.
"Keep watching them." I say. I kept on dodging the attacks instead of firing back. I definitely did not want another prophecy about us.
A plume of smoke fell down, and I looked at it. It was a plane from the Platinum Crew. I tried to save it, but it plummeted into the sea. Hopefully our trainings helped, and they'll survive.
I quickly turned up to the air. It was better away from the sea monsters, for they had become reckless, controlling water to do their bidding. They sprung up into the air, stabbing and hacking at our airplanes.
"Emmeline, they're coming!" Eveline cries. I quickly shot past the monsters, rising up even higher. A monster soars up even more, but I could tell it was getting harder for it.
"Emmeline, go down, and make it follow you. Then, rise up higher and bomb it. They're all targeting us, you know. We have to wipe them out." Eveline said urgently.
"Okay." I said. I turned the nose of the plane down, and went down. The spout of water that was holding the sea monster also came down, until we were face to face.
"Hold on, guys!" I shouted before shooting up again, and flying directly on top of the sea monster. I let a cannonball fall. The sea demon rose up itself, and crashed with the cannonball. There was flames as the water disappeared and the demon crashed down.
"That was scary." Audrey said quietly. We murmured in agreement, but there was no time to waste. I swerved around other demons and planes, aiming for Charybdis, who seemed determined to kill any plane in sight.
"YOU HUMANS WILL PAY FOR DISTURBING MY PLAN!!!" She was roaring. "ESPECIALLY EMMELINE AND EVELINE!!!" The whirlpool wriggled, as if something was coming out of it.
"YOU HUMANS ARE QUITE LUCKY!" Charybdis screamed. "IF ONLY YOU COULD ALL SURVIVE, BUT I WILL SLAY YOU ALL!!! STARTING WITH THOSE GIRLS!!!" A figure rose out of the whirlpool. Charybdis was in her human form, a beautiful woman with long blue hair, piercing blue eyes, and a body made of water.
"She looks like Nephthys." Katherine remarked. She was right. Not only was Katherine, Madeline and I interested in Greek mythology, we were also interested in Egyptian mythology.
"Yeah." Madeline agreed. Eveline frowned at us.
"What do you mean?" She asked. Audrey and Caroline nodded, asking too.
I sighed, ready to explain, but then, Charybdis's voice brought me back to reality.
"EMMELINE AND EVELINE, COME AND FIGHT ME, COWARDS!!!" She boomed.
"We're coming right at ya. Emmeline, go get her!!!" Eveline shouted. I shot down from the clouds, aiming right for the woman made of water.
"Ah, there you are." Charybdis lowered her voice as he strange blue eyes regarded our plane, straight through the glass. "I see you've brought some friends."
Ah, yes. The rest of the Jade Crew and probably the Captains' plane.
Before I could reply, Charybdis sighed. "But the only way to fight you, is to turn myself into a solid form. Great. I hate solid forms. But only this time to destroy you. What fun." Charybdis's form begun to shimmer, and she was soon light tan, with brown hair and piercing black eyes.
"Cannons! Reload!" I shouted. Caroline fumbled to reload the cannonball slot, and when she was done, I aimed the cannons right into her face, mouthed I have a present for you, and launched them. They hit her blank in the face, and she screamed with agony.
"THAT HURT EVEN MORE THAN BEING A WHIRLPOOL!!!" She roared. I grinned.
That's what you get. I mouthed. She hissed at me, her now ruined face steaming.
"We're not done yet." I said, clicking the button for radio. "Crews, please all come line up beside Plane #315 of the Jade Crew. Thank you. End." I finished. I waited for them to all line up, then sent another message.
"Everyone, fill in your cannons, and fire them point blank at Charybdis. Do not aim wrong. End." I said. I waited for a few minutes.
"Everyone, on the count of three, launch your cannonballs. One . . . Two . . . THREE!!!" I didn't have time to say 'End' before launching all of the cannonballs that Caroline had put in. A million or so cannonballs rained from the sky, hitting Charybdis.
"OW!!! HUMANS!!!" Charybdis roared. Finally, with three more launches, Charybdis fell to the ocean, sinking to the ocean floor, turning back into a whirlpool that slowly disappeared. I knew that the Greek monsters never permanently died, but hopefully Charybdis would stay like this in Tartarus for just a few more millenniums.
My whole plane cheered. The sea monsters had retreated as soon as they could tell that their master was dead.
"Please follow Plane #306 back to the Flying Campus, okay?" Andrew's voice sounded much more relieved.
"And thank you all for helping. End." We got back into Triangle Formation, and followed Plane #306 back to our building. I was glad that the Battle of the Bermuda Triangle had finally ended, the rise of Charybdis had ended, and everything soon would return to normal.
Soon, as we headed back to the Flying Campus, where everyone was waiting.
