"O-Okay, Okay!"

"Those are mermaid scales. Those who swallow those scales will become cursed, but also united by a strong--"

Hanako is interrupted by the sound of Yashiro swallowing the Mermaid scale.

"Yashiro! I said not to swallow it! You'll be cursed."

You walked closer towards Yashiro, slightly intrigued but mostly worried.

"Yashiro... You shouldn't have soon that. What if you get hurt?"

"I don't mind!"

Yashiro held her hands close to her chest and spoke. She looked serious about her claim.

"If it means Minamoto-senpai will return my feelings, I don't mind being cursed or hurt!"

"Hanako-Kun, you did have the right items after all! Hanako-san you're..."

"A liar!"

You watched as Yashiro ran away, you have never seen a person so upset. The growing feeling in your heart caused you to retract the outstretched hand you reached toward her.

"Nene-chan..."

You turn towards Hanako-Kun, his face looked unreadable.

"I should go find her..."

You try to run after her, but a cold hand grabs onto your wrist.

"Let here be. She'll find out soon enough.."

He looked down at your hand, squeezing your arm just a bit, as if he was checking something.

"Why did you visit me? You don't want a wish to be granted... And yet, all of today your aura felt like it was missing something."

"Why won't you wish for that missing thing?"

You looked down at your shoes and sighed. Gently taking both of his hands in yours, you smiled apologetically.

"I'll explain it to you later, but first we need to go see if Yashiro is alright! I promise afterward I'll answer any question you ask me..."

"We finally found you! I was so worried Nene-Chan."

You peered into the fish tank containing your friend, relieved that you found her in time.

"Mhm! A little longer and you would've dried out. I've got everything ready for you Yashiro."

Your eyes followed Hanako carrying Yashiro to the mirror, showing that she is a fish.

"Ta-da!"

It took a few moments for Yashiro to understand the situation, but when she did, she splashed around in the tank in a panicked state.

"She looks a bit afraid..."

You sweatdropped as you watched her swim around the tank, splashing water around.

"I think she loves it!"

"I do not!"

Allowing Hanako to explain the situation to Yashiro, you gradually began to feel the uneasy feeling of something or someone coming.

"Like you said, Hanako-Kun, Anyone would do if they returned my feelings... I guess that was my real wish."

You frowned at her, you felt terrible for what happened to her, you thought that she deserved someone that made her happy.

Poor Nene-Chan... Even if I just met you today, our soul connection is strong. I've never had a connection with another human before, you're like my first actual friend...

The unusual feeling became clear now, the floor under you shook as the skies outside turned a dark purple.

A deep female voice rang throughout the room, becoming closer and closer after each word said.

"Humans are truly foolish creatures. But rejoice, girl. From now on, you serve me."

The floor in the middle of the classroom fell through, and emerging from that large hole came a bright red light then a gigantic fish with a face.

There you are... Mermaid."

The large fish woman used her fin to slap Hanako-Kun out of the way, you hastily grab the fish tank that held Yashiro and held it close to your chest.

"Y-Y/N-Chan! What are you doing!?"

You gripped the tank tighter and backed up into the corner, glaring at the menacing mermaid.

"I'm protecting you! It's my duty as the only person with the ability to distort the barrier between the living and dead."

Yashiro swan to the surface of the water and looked at you, tears welled up in your eyes as some fell into the fish tank under in your hand.

"You're the first human I've had a soul connection with! You might not feel it, but every emotion you feel I feel too."

"I don't want you to ever be sad. You deserve better, and I want to be that friend that will always make you happy!"

Your fingers turned white due to how hard you gripped the tank, you watched as the Mermaid grew closer and closer, ready for her to strike.

"Wait a second. I haven't granted one if that girl's wishes yet."

"If you're going to take her, could you wait until I have?"

The mermaid turns towards Hanako, she doesn't look like she wants to agree with that compromise.

With a dark expression, Hanako reaches into his School uniform and pulls out a shiny kitchen knife.

"In the case... I'll use force too."

You and Yashiro watch in fear as The mermaid charges towards the boy.

With one slash of his knife, he cuts open the mermaid and watches as she fades out of sight.

"Curse you, school wonder!"

"What should we do Hanako-Kun? Is that fish going to take me away?"

"I wish I never made that wish..."

You feel a slight change of emotion coming from Hanako's soul. Looking over at him, his eyes darkened and he peered into the fish tank at the poor girl.

"Crying won't save you now. This is what happens when you get mixed up with apparitions. You almost got Y/N killed for your actions. Didn't I tell you not to use it?"

Hanako continued to scold Yashiro, turning away, you looked at the mess created from that mermaid.

It'll take some time to clean this... I should start to fix up the place a bit.

You stood up to walk, but your knees became weak and your hands were sore from gripping Yashiro's tank so hard.

You almost call over until a solid arm grabs you by the arms and steadies you on your own feet.

"And you."

"You could've gotten yourself killed trying to play the hero. You have a lot of explaining to do when we're done here."

You gulp and nod your head, too weak and scared to tell him otherwise.

"Yashiro, you didn't use this on your senpai."

He pulls out the other mermaid scale that was supposed to be for Minamoto-Kun.

"That means I can still grant you a wish. Do you want to be human again? If that's your wish I'll grant it."

"For a price, of course."
