Chapter Nine – Insane
"This is insane."
My mother, my own flesh and blood, had just revealed that everything my mate had said was true. Oh, and she also said that my pack was in some serious trouble. Slamming the phone on the floor next to where I'd sank during the phone call, I groaned and wiped my face.
Apparently, just as I hadn't known about the Omega's all banding together, I hadn't known that Kalb Flow had also grown in numbers. I hadn't known that Kalb Flow had nearly opened the portal, only for it to fail at the last second. I hadn't known that my "sweet and kind" father was actually a "nasty" man, banding with Kalb Flow. That he'd been with them for years. All I'd known was my pack. And as my mother had explained, dad had kept it that way to keep me distracted. Nor had I known that all those Omega attacks were never actually attacks, but Omega's coming to stop my father using me – they'd been sent by Darius Kilt, my mate.
She even explained the real reason behind why she left for Hampshire. Apparently being near me amplified our "call" of magic. It was like a blaring siren to all those supernatural. It had been fine while I'd been a kid, it had been during my teen years that I saw less and less of my mum. And now that I thought about everything, the more it was making sense. And I hated it.
I hated that I never knew. That I never saw the pink elephant that was dancing in front of me blaring a song so annoying I couldn't miss it, yet I did. And I hate the fact that on learning, and rethinking everything, I was starting to feel grateful that my Omega mate had made me run. Because if he hadn't come at that point, I would still be the pig getting ready for the slaughter by my own father, or I would already be at the slaughter house, bled out on a cold ground.
Betrayal was rooted deep, so deep it hurt. My father, my dad, my own flesh and blood was going to sacrifice me to bring nightmare's back into the world. The funny thing was the fact that the Omega's, the bogeymen, were actually against that. They were the ones banding together against Kalb Flow with other wolves, even Alpha's and packs behind them. Who would have thought that it would be the Omega's to protect the supernatural and human races. It went against everything that stood for Omega. I would have thought that they'd be howling in joy and helping to open the portal, not keep it closed.
My head jerked up as I heard the door unlock then open. My mate stepped in, closing the door behind him. Neither of us spoke. And without words, I felt that there was less tension this time between us. It wasn't gone, it was still there, but it wasn't as strong.
"Why are Omega's fighting against Kalb Flow?" I asked because I just couldn't figure it out. "Why are you called the Omega of Omega's? Why aren't you with Kalb Flow?"
I watched as he moved with a lethal grace to the bed, sitting on the end, elbows on knees. Somehow it made him bigger. Although, that might have had something to do with the fact that I hadn't bothered getting off the floor.
"Because my father is leading them."
"Leading who? Kalb Flow?"
He nodded.
"So, if your father was on our side, you'd be on their side?"
Again, he nodded.
"You really have something against father's, don't you?" I frowned.
"My father killed all my brothers and sisters the moment they only showed signs of being a normal wolf. Then after I was born, he killed my mother."
I frowned at his wording. "Normal?"
He nodded.
Seriously getting fed up with the nod only answers, I grumbled. "So your wolf's what?"
"Omega."
Of course, I thought, wanting to face-palm myself. "I'm sorry for what he did."
"I don't really care. They were weak."
I'm sure my mouth was doing the cartoon version of a jaw drop. Then I frowned. "Then why do you hate him?"
"I don't hate him."
Wow this guy is confusing.
He continued. "But I refuse to be weaker than him."
"Wait, wait, wait. So all this, might bring terror to the world is only a game to both of you? You only care about winning against him?You just want to be stronger than him? Why don't you just fight each other one on one?"
He nodded then shrugged. "We did. But we got bored."
Now my eyes were as wide as saucers. "So instead you're just going to play with everybody's lives?"
He raised a brow at me, just like he had earlier. Only, this time, I actually felt like a child.
Growling at him, I glanced at the door. "Can I go outside?"
"No."
Well that's sorted then, I grumbled as I stood after him, following him to the door. "Why not?"
"You can leave when you mark me."
Exiting the room, closing the door behind him, I heard the lock click shut again.
"Eat the food that will be sent to you. I'll see you in a couple of hours, my little alpha-blood mate."
I growled.
Damn Omega's!
