The sun was dancing over the forest floor and warmed Robinrunners fur as he was running through the forest with Flamepaw, Webpaw, Hazelfire and Smokesky behind him. The smell of prey filled Robinrunners nose and he slowed down when he heard the subtle noise of one of the small streams that passed through Thunderclan territory.

Robinrunner stopped in front of the small stream and turned back to see Webpaw stopp. He had been at the very back of their small hunting group. Robinrunner looked at the apprentices and didn't say anything until Flamepaw finally calmed down and noticed the older warrior's stern look.

- Tell me what you smell, Robinrunner said and twitched his tail. The air was filled with the scent of prey and they had many options to what they wanted to begin with. Flamepaw immediately put his nose onto the ground and tried to catch the scent of any prey. Webpaw on the other paw put his nose up into the air and sniffed a small breeze that carried the scent of rabbit.

- Rabbit, Webpaw immediately said when he recognised the scent. Flamepaw looked up and nodded.

- I can smell a mouse and it was not long ago since it was here, Flamepaw said eager to compete with his brother. Webpaw looked at his brother and they exchanged a look. Robinrunner could see that Webpaw accepted the challenge.

- Hazelfire, Smokesky you take Flamepaw and follow his scent. I will keep an eye on Webpaw we meet here when we have caught something, he said and his friends nooded. Flamepaw was already on his paws and following the scent of mouse. Robinrunner sat down and nodded towards Webpaw encouraging the apprentice to take the lead.

Webpaw started to walk up streams. Robinrunner followed keeping his distance so he didn't distract the apprentice. Webpaw slowed his movement and tried his best to get up next to the small waterfall without making too much noise. The scent of rabbit hung in the air and filled Robinrunner's nose. Something familiar also hung in the air but Robinrunner was unable to place it.

Webpaw sunk down into the hunter crouch and Robinrunner saw his tail brushing against the leaves. Robinrunner sunk down next to Webpaw and nudged the apprentices tail with his whiskers which mad Webpaw lift his tail from the ground.

One paw stepp at a time Webpaw got closer to the bushes that the rabbit was behind. Robinrunner was close behind ready to catch the animal if the apprentice scared it. Robinrunner saw how Webpaw tensed his muscles in his back legs getting ready to jump.

Then it was that scent. Something deep down in Robinrunner knew that something was wrong, very very wrong. Robinrunner was about to say something to Webpaw but it was too late, the apprentice had already jumped. Without thinking Robinrunner jumped after that apprentice and knocked him to the ground.

It turned out that Robinrunners gut feeling had been right because now he was standing face to face with an angry dog.

The dog snarled and showed its long teeth. Robinrunner was momentarily frozen before he sank down hissing with his fur on end. Robinrunner could smell Webpaws fear from behind him where he was crouched up into a small ball of fur.

- Webpaw run now, Robinrunner said his voice strained as he asked the terryfied apprentice behind him to flee. The dog took on steep towards Robinrunner and his entire body was tense and ready for fight.

- Webpaw when I say run then you run, Robinrunner hissed between clenched teeth. That finally got Webpaw moving and taking shelter behind the bushes. Not far behind the dog was a two leg '' just great'' Robinrunner thought. It was exactly what he needed: a dog and its twoleg.

Robinrunner watched the dog as it suddenly lunched forwards towards him. There was no way to escape so Robinrunner did the only thing he could do, fight.
