Lloyd's POV

The sun is just setting as the aircraft hovers over the Abandoned Island. It definitely lives up to its name. Dareth must have noticed my confusion as he tells me that everyone's inside.

It lands outside the main entrance, and we all jump out, our feet touching the concrete ground below. As I ascend the steps, my eyes catch onto a familiar figure, with long black hair swept up into a messy ponytail, and brown eyes. "Nya!"

"Lloyd!"

I meet her in the middle and we hug tightly, "Oh, I am so glad you're safe! Where's Kai?"

"He's inside with Skylor. Let's go."

The two of us are about to enter, but I'm stopped by a guard, who holds his hand out, "Phone, please."

"Huh?"

Nya nods, "They don't want to risk it. Ninjago City could be tracking our signals. From here on out it's burners only."

"Okay..." I dig through my pocket and bring it out. He snatches it away and immediately throws it onto the ground. I wince and physically and mentally restrain myself from pushing him away and picking it up. All my memories that I've had, all the moments I've had with my father, all gone so fast. Nya pulls me along and we walk inside. It's simple, with neutral colours and a mix of warm and cool lighting (basically like the rebel base in district 13 from the movies).

"I'm sorry about your father. He was a good man."

"Yeah...I'm sorry too, about the whole...you know, with your parents... and Jay...we'll get him back."

"I won't stop fighting until we do."

I smile. Typical Smith stubbornness. It runs in the family. We enter the base, and walk down the long hallway. That's when I notice it, "Hey, what's with the jumpsuits?"

It's true. Everyone was wearing bleak grey or beige jumpsuits. "It's what they have, since everything else got wrecked in the attacks."

"Oh..."

"Ah! Nya!" We both turn to see a tanned man, with long black hair into a ponytail, "Is this him?"

"Lloyd, meet Nadakhan Djinn, Nadakhan , meet Lloyd Garmadon."

"My condolences for your loss,"

"I-It's fine, really-"

Nadakhan takes my arm, "They want to see him. I'll bring him back later," Nya nodded.

"Sure,"

I let Nadakhan pull me away, and down several flights of stairs, "What is this entire place...bunker...island?"

The man chuckled, "It's an abandoned island, which we turned into the Rebel base. There are many people counting on you. All those survivors relying on you." I gulp. Responsibilities, much?!

He opened the door and led me in. Dareth was seated next to a man, with a long beard that nearly touched the ground, "Ah, you must be Lloyd. I've heard all about you." He smiled warmly and held his hand out. I shake it, and he gestures to an empty seat, "Please, sit."

"Lloyd, this is Yang, leader of the Rebels." Dareth introduced.

"What an honour it is to meet you," Yang smiles. I still feel a bit uncomfortable, plus everything is all hitting me at once. I'm still processing it all, "When you attempted to kill Chen's second in command, it...electrified the nation. Your squad was...split up, as you know. Half are at Ninjago City, with your uncle, and the others are here. Lloyd, we want you to be our dragon. Chen needs to pay for all the harm he has caused. And with you, we can win."

I scoff, "So what, I'm just a tool in all of this?" Yang shakes his head, "Absolutely not. All the Rebels, who are in this bunker, they have fought. We've lost...but not for long. We need Chen to realise that he's gonna turn everyone against him...in good time."

"What about my squad?" I ask firmly, "What will happen to them?"

"Well...we'll see where this takes us-"

"No!" I slam my hand on the table, "I was the one supposed to die, not my dad!"

"Lloyd! This is a revolution. This will go down in history. We need a voice. We need you."

Dareth sighs, "Kid, your father was in on the plan. He knew this was gonna happen. We needed you."

I stare between the two. Okay, my dad died right in front of my eyes, my squad's split up, there was a whole plan about me that I didn't know about, and I'm at a rebel base where this stranger is asking me to be a voice for the team.

Yeah, that just about sums it up. I stand up shakily, "I-I need to think about this, it's all so new,"

Yang nodded in approval, "Of course, Lloyd. But remember, time is of the essence. Make your mind up quickly. Dareth, show him to his bunker, please." Yang shot me a small smile.

Dareth stood up, "Alright, Blondie, let's go!" he takes me out of the room, and down several flights of stairs, "I knew that you'd be super suspicious of everyone, and the only people you actually trust with your life are Kai and Nya-"

"That's not true!" I protest, "I trust a lot of people!"

He folded his arms, "Fine. Name five people in this base that you trust."

"Um...you? Mom?"

"Okay fine you win. My point is, you're rooming with Kai, Nya and Skylor." We're now walking down a vast hallway with several doors. "How deep are we?"

"Very. This was an underground weaponry. The emergency bunker is even further down! This place is so big, you could easily get lost!" he chuckles before stopping outside a door. He pushes it open and I see several people inside, whom I instantly recognise.

"Kai, Skylor, Zane, Nya!" we all do a massive group hug before pulling away. Skylor punches my arm lightly.

"Sorry about your dad, man."

"It's okay. He...did what he had to."

"Heads up!" Kai throws a bundle at me and I catch it, "What's this?"

"Night clothes. Get dressed, give those clothes to Zane, you'll get a jumpsuit tomorrow." Nodding, I delve into a corner of the room, and pull my clothes off, before slipping on the new ones. They're surprisingly really comfy. Handing my old clothes to Zane, I mess up my hair and sit on the wheelie-chair, "2 beds, 4 people?"

Nya nudged Skylor, "Sky and I are sharing a bed, and you and Kai are sharing a bed. Each one fits up to two people, so we're good."

Nodding, I look around, "How did you guys get here?"

Kai shrugs, "Hovercraft. They pulled me and Nya out of there with the survivors after they bombed Ignacia."

I let out a shaky breath, "I still don't believe it's gone. I...don't know,"

"Well, you'd better believe it." Skylor types something into her burner, and a reply is pinged back, "Yang just said that you can go and see the damage done for yourself if you want."

I look up, "Uh...okay..."

I stand up, and Kai motions for me to come over, "Nadakkhan appointed Nya and I as your bodyguards so yeah."

"Oh..sure. Does that mean you guys are coming with?"

Nya shakes her head, "Just you, Kai, Flintlocke and Dilara. Tomorrow. I gotta help Zane."

From outside the corridors, we hear a distant voice yell out, "LIGHTS OUT IN 10 MINUTES!"

Zane groans and stands up, "Well, it's been fun talking to you guys, I'll see you all tomorrow." He leaves, and we all get into our respective beds. I was on the edge, whilst Kai was on the inside. Same deal with Nya; she was on the edge too. Skylor then speaks up, "Wait, who's turning off the light?"

Grumbling, Nya shuffles to the entrance of the room, and flicks the switch. The room goes dark, and we stay up, just murmuring to each other. Eventually we go silent.
