Sophie gazed at her lifeless body from the riverbank, feeling a mixture of wonder and peace wash over her. She was now freed from earthly desires and sensed that there was something she must do before continuing on her journey. Slowly turning around, Sophie noticed her mother standing there - the same mother she had just witnessed passing away. Her heart filled with emotion as she lovingly looked at her mother. It was as if time stood still in this transcendent moment. Sophie felt a deep connection with her mother, a bond that not even death could sever. She realized that there were still unsaid words, unfinished matters she wanted to share with her beloved mother. Without hesitation, Sophie stepped forward, her feet lightly gliding across the water's surface as she floated towards her. Her mother smiled at her, her eyes radiating the warmth Sophie had always known. There was no fear, no sadness, only peace and understanding between them. She left her book behind, hoping it would be found by the police forensic team. Detective Vanessa had just arrived and walked towards Kim, the head of the forensics team. "Look what I found," Kim exclaimed cheerfully. "It's some kind of book, and the first page reads: 'Restless'." Detective Vanessa took the book and headed towards her car. Curiously, she began to read. What should have been a quick glance at this evidence turned into half a day as she immersed herself in the book. Wiping away a tear, deeply moved by the story, she quickly regained composure. "It's just a book," she told herself. She opened her glove compartment and tossed the book inside. "Hey, be more careful with that book," Rick said from behind her. Startled, she reached for her service weapon. "Who are you? Hands up! How did you get in my car?" she shouted. "I'm Rick, you know, the boy you just read about," Rick said anxiously. Vanessa scratched her head, clearly confused. "But how? You're not real, you're a fictional character?" stammered Vanessa. Sophie interrupted them and said, "Did you read the book, Vanessa? It seems I was needed because of you. Do you need me too?" Vanessa became slightly calmer and lowered her weapon. She sighed and said, "Okay, okay. I guess you can't help it either." Rick nodded understandingly at Vanessa and smiled encouragingly. "I'm here to help you, Vanessa," he said kindly. "I know this can be confusing, but there's a reason our paths have crossed. There are messages I need to convey, not only to you but to others you'll encounter on your own journey." Vanessa lowered her weapon as Rick sat down beside her. He still looked a bit startled. "Rick, I understand you're real to me," Vanessa said, trying to comprehend the situation. "But how did you come out of the book?" Rick glanced at the backseat, where he saw Sophie sitting, giving him a reassuring smile and a nod of acceptance. "When you read the book, you were drawn into the story," he explained. "The book had a special power to bring me into your world. And now I'm here, alive and real." Vanessa's confusion slowly diminished as she listened to Rick. She began to realize that there might be more between heaven and earth than she could ever imagine. Then she directed her attention to Rick. "What are the messages you want to convey?" she asked curiously. Rick took a moment to think before responding. "There are people longing for redemption, for confirmation that they have a purpose in life," he began. "You, Vanessa, have always had a strong sense of justice and protecting others. But sometimes you doubt yourself and the world around you. I am here to tell you that you are not alone. There are forces greater than us, guiding us and helping us find our way." Vanessa listened attentively to Rick's words and felt a wave of hope surge through her. Rick placed his hand on Vanessa's shoulder and looked outside, where darkness enveloped everything, then returned his gaze to her. "Perhaps it's time to go home," he said.
