C/N Cookie was the definition of a hopeless romantic.

She thought that when she found the right Cookie, she'd know it was them. Striding gracefully into the room and sweep her off her feet, able to make her heart stop.

Well... she was a dreamer too.

Her friends and accquaintances always teased her lightly for that, but that was part of her charm.

She hummed softly as she turned the 'closed' sign on her bakery door around to 'open'.

Light filtered through the glass windows, the sound of the bustling streets of the Creme Republic more audible every time someone entered the bakery.

Today was a busy day, especially for the shopkeepers in both higher and lower class streets. Word had spread that the Ancient Heroes would be holding their next war council in the accommodations of House Custard, hosted by Consul Clotted Cream Cookie himself.

Many fine establishments had been ordered to prepare their food for the council, and though C/N Cookie's bakery wasn't one of them, she'd still have a load of customers to treat because the consul gave his helpers and the Creme Knights a day off. Most would probably seek her and her baked goods. Which meant... work, work, work!

She said her goodbyes to the last customer and realized the store was empty now.

Finally, some peace.

The baker let out a small sigh and turned to mix together the ingredients for the last cake order. While she did so, she began softly singing a song she liked, twirling around and going quieter when she had to concentrate. Music kept her mind occupied, and, well, sometimes a little too much.

Too late had she realized she failed to hear the ringing of the bell above the door, signaling another customer's entry, as she simply kept on singing to her heart's content while she stirred the butter.

"My, I didn't realize the owner of this bakery was a singer!"

C/N Cookie shrieked, nearly dropping the bowl while she whipped around. A fairly tall male with blonde locks and sienna colored dough stood, giving her a smile so bright and swoon-worthy she thought she'd pass out right then and there. The glistening blue gem on his chest and closed fluttered eyes gave him away.

Pure Vanilla Cookie, the founder of the Vanilla Kingdom.

The baker girl stared in awe, mouth slightly agape before she cleared her throat and set the bowl of butter elsewhere. "A-Ah. Sir Pure Vanilla Cookie. What can I do for you?"

He chuckled. "Please. You needn't be so nervous. I am simply looking to explore the republic and heard of your store quite a lot by now. Even Clotted Cream Cookie himself couldn't help a compliment!"

She suppose that wasn't suprising. The consul never really came here himself, only sent out a soldier or Financier Cookie to come get his orders, but when he did, they could always chat like nice old friends.

"So you must be C/N Cookie, is that correct?"

"Mhm." She nodded, subconciously straightening out her uniform with her hands.

"You have a beautiful voice." He complimented and she tried her best not to look as flustered as she felt.

She thanked him, and they chatted for a while. Plans, how he found the Creme Republic, and simple get-to-know facts. It went suprisingly smooth for meeting an Ancient Hero for the first time. C/N Cookie inwardly high-fived herself for keeping her cool.

The Vanillian king came to the republic to see C/N Cookie more and more, and each time she felt her heart beat faster.

This time especially though.

Spring was at it's peak, and she sat by the fountain in the plaza, swinging her feet mindlessly.

"C/N Cookie!"

She looked up and saw Pure Vanilla Cookie gazing at her softly. Though he had his eyes opened for once and she immediatly felt her face heat up. It was rare that she got to see those light gold and skylike optics. He was just so pretty.

"Oh.. hello" The baker could see he had something behind his back, and gasped when he showed her a bouquet of her favorite flowers.

He approached her. "I picked these myself.."

"Thank you." She breathed, taking them into her own hands gently. "They're beautiful..."

Was it just her, or was there red tinting his face?

Pure Vanilla Cookie fiddled with the hem of his cloak. "I thought about you come to visit me in the Vanilla Kingdom sometime. Surely Clotted Cream Cookie would take you." He grinned at her softly.

Her mouth parted a little. "Sounds good." She said breathlessly.

Did he just ask her out?

He smiled, taking her hand and kissing it. "I'm glad. It would be lovely, I'm sure." He stood up when he heard Hollyberry Cookie call him in the distance.

As soon as he left, C/N Cookie threw her face into her hands and squealed.

Guess she had found the one, just not in a way she anticipated.
