Frigate was losing his patience. He was told to 'babysit' the hero of wisdom for a year already. The babysitting was not a problem actually if the hero stopped complaining, whining, or pestering about things he didn't understand at all called 'kamen rider project of his'.
Thanks to him, his researches about sealing arts were delayed. When the news of his lord's return reached his ear, he was happy to the bottom of his heart but at the same time, he was frustrated for not being useful to him.
"Sensei, are you in?"
Just as he was resting his head from the piled up documents about the research formalities in his desk, the trouble maker a.k.a. the hero of Wisdom, Haruta, entered his office. He was carrying a strange shaped magic tool. His brow frowned rather deeply as that person just entered his office without permission.
"What do you want, Hero-sama?"
Frigate asked. He was trying his best from snapping out and using impolite language.
"Look at this!! This is the best prototype I've made!! Rider henshin belt v.351."
He said while presenting the strange tool in his hand.
"So?"
Frigate asked.
"You're not amazed? That's no good sensei. This is after all the first step we will introduce the fruit of our research, the rider system!!"
Haruta replied in high spirit.
Frigate sighed and rubbed his temples in frustration. It was not the only time the hero acted so childish and caused some headache for him.
"And, what do you want to do with it?"
Frigate asked.
"Isn't it obvious? I want to test it."
Haruta said with wide smile on his face. Frigate frowned as he heard it.
"So, you want me to ask some experiment subjects huh?"
Frigate murmured.
"Alright, you can go and pick whichever slave you want to use as a subject at the slave dealer and buy it with the institute's fund. I'll handle with the formalities later."
Frigate said to Haruta. The hero frowned when he heard it. It seems like he was displeased with the response.
"Etto, are you telling me to use slave as experiment subject? No way! I'm not going to use them! They have unknown background. If this belt fell to those who have evil intent, it will be disastrous!!"
He said.
"Then, use it yourself!!"
Frigate shouted. He had lose his patience facing his attitude.
"Then how should I know that this belt worked properly? I won't know it if I wore it myself."
Haruta said.
"Then ask other student or researcher!!"
Frigate replied.
"But, I don't want to this project leaked outside. Sensei, could you wear this belt for me?"
Haruta said. Frigate's vein became somehow visible from irritation.
"HUUUH?!! Are you stupid or what?! If I do that, how can you ensure that there will be no risk involved? If there's an accident, you won't be able to handle the aftermath!!"
Frigate shouted. He slammed the desk hard that it left a bit of crack from the impact.
"There is no problem at all. I can guarantee it. After all-"
Haruta said with cheerful tone. But mid-sentence, his expression changed.
"-sensei isn't a human right?"
He said those. Frigate's expression changed completely.
"You don't need to say anything. I already see through your disguise, demon."
Haruta added before Frigate said anything.
"I'm not going to say that I'm not a demon as you claimed. But, good work for see through it. When did you found out?"
Frigate asked.
"I was already have my doubt when I met you for the first time. I used appraisal magic on you and found no proof of you being a demon. But, when I used my the Holy Appraisal on you, your true form was seen through by it. I don't know how you do that but your game ends here, demon."
Haruta declared. Frigate clapped his hands.
"That's amazing magic you have there. To be able to see through the effect of the artifact given by my master, I guess I can't really underestimate a hero. So, what do you want?"
Frigate asked. He stood from his seat and moved his hand a bit and a magic staff appeared in a blink of eye.
"I'll defeat you of course! But, before that, mind telling me your aim doing this? Could it be you're spying on human technology?"
Haruta said.
"Ah, no. Not at all. My purpose is just to satiate my curiosity. My master told me to go here to study magic. Nothing more, nothing less."
Frigate said.
"Don't lie!! There's no way a demon like you would-"
Before he could finish his words, Frigate stopped him by raising his hand.
"You jumped on conclusion too fast, hero. I am indeed a demon. But, my master isn't some warmonger who seek nothing but bloodshed. My master is someone who dislike dispute unless someone else started it first."
Frigate said.
"What are you babbling about? That's nonsense! There's no way a demon won't hate human!!"
Haruta said.
"No, there's an exception. After all, my master used to be a human. He didn't like bloodshed unlike those pure demons."
Frigate said. Haruta didn't say anything. He just glared at him.
"Let me tell you a story, once there was a child who was born from the womb of a saint. The child's birth was despised by the church. After all, the holy woman who should have remained pure was tainted by the one who was an outsider, a summoned hero.
The child grew while unknownly receiving the hatred and malice from those church dogs. When he was on the age of ceremony, the church used the authority to manipulate the job bestowing ceremony and made him receiving the worthless job class. But, in contrary to their expectation of the boy fell to depravity, the child was born a genius and managed to bring forth the potential of the job class. The child's naivety and unawareness of such plot gifted the church with luxuries of the products of his proficiency. Some of the church members were grateful for it but the hatred bore by the higher ups were so deep that they decided to make use of his naivety.
And when the child had to sacrifice a bit of his humanity to fend off the evil from the human territory, the church branded him as one of the evil. The church even decided to deprive him of those he deemed precious, his beloved, his friends, his home, everything. In the desperation of losing everything, the child who bore the symbol of hero unknowingly fell to the darkness which then made him raised the forbidden flag but even till today he has yet to forsake his humanity. He's a demon yet he acted like a hero. After this far, I bet you already understand who the child is."
Frigate said.
"Just who are you? How could you know such thing?"
Haruta asked.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Frigate. I'm the direct subordinate of Acedian Demon Lord, Bael Pheol-sama. Pleased to meet you, hero."
Frigate introduced himself politely with a perfect bowing. When he raised his head he smirked.
"Then, after this long, I think I will take my leave. Let's hope that we won't meet again as enemies, hero. Farewell!"
Frigate tapped the floor below him with his staff lightly. Blinding light shone throughout the room. Haruta covered his eyes for mere a second from the light but Frigate already disappeared before the light dissipated. Haruta walked toward the empty seat. He sighed when he saw the carving on the floor under the desk.
"Teleportation magic circle... Tch! He ran away huh? But, his story kind of strange. It somehow made me uneasy. I guess I'll ask someone about it."
Haruta murmured. He walked toward the exit. He stopped before opening the door and looked back at the empty room.
"I wonder is the child in his story is. But, if that person really exist, I guess things not as simple as it seems. I better investigated this too."
He said to himself before leaving. It was not long before the hero of wisdom met with the former servants of Concerto house and cut his ties with the church.
