Arleshia's POV
I could feel his malice was completely directed to me. I glanced at Karina. This man had claimed that she was his subordinate. I secretly pulled out a magic tool from the drawer of my desk. It was an item called level scanner.
"Who do you think you are? Suddenly barged in my office and spouting some nonsense since earlier."
I said to him. I activated the level scanner at him.
"Nonsense, huh? Is that your answer to my inquiry?"
He asked. His tone showed how angry he was. I glanced at the scanner. It showed 200. This person was at level 200. His level was lower than mine. I smirked when I saw this.
"You sure are arrogant for a youngster."
I said as I released some of my magic power as I stood from my seat. I smiled confidently at him. Karina gasped and looked toward me. Her expression showed not a delighted one but in contrary, she looked panicked upon sensing my magical power.
"I see... I see..."
He muttered. His black eyes changed color into light blue.
"Level 277, huh? No wonder you're confident."
He said. I gasped. He could read my level so easily. This person might be not just as simple as I thought. He raised his hands upward till reaching his shoulder level with the back faced forward.
"Let me tell you some interesting fact. First, you have made a grave mistake if you think that our level difference means a lot."
He said. The shape of his hands distorted. Both his hands grew white scales. At that time I realized. The person standing before me isn't a human and that my own confidence that he was weaker than me was wrong. After all, a level 200 non-humans couldn't be compared to human with the same level.
He smirked when he realized that I had taken aback by his appearance. The white arms glowed and bright silver gauntlet appeared out of nowhere. The blue jewel on the gauntlet gave a majestic aura around it.
"Second, my race isn't human but dragon. You should understand well right? What happened if you angered one?"
He said. The atmosphere around him changed a lot. The aloof and calm feeling around him changed 180 degree. Now, he felt so majestic and menacing. He pointed his right index finger at my face. Also, I also knew well what his question meant.
Dragons, especially the high ranked one, had intellect. They were also known as a wise race. High ranked dragons were usually didn't bother other races and rarely got in fight with them. But, there were exceptions. Territorial disputes among the high ranking dragon race and other race usually decided in debate and negotiation except some extreme cases. However, there were several matters which could flip those dragons' switch instantly. First, it was their treasure. Those dragons were merciless against thieves who dared to visit their lair and touched their treasure no matter what it was. Second, it was their closest kin. They would rampage if their kin or the ones they thought as one were harmed.
I glanced at Karina. She was trembling in fear for some reason. The youngster released his magical power. My magical power was pushed back. Alchemists and Witches possessed large amount of magical power at the level above 100. His magical power was more or less same or higher than me because the trait of dragon race of his had boosted the growth of his magical power by a lot.
"GUH!!"
I groaned. The atmosphere around him changed into more sinister one. I was barely able to resist his aura. I had heard this from my master. Dragons above king class possessed a unique ability which could oppress other races just with their look.
"M-M-Monarch Aura?!!!"
I panicked a lot when I mentioned the ability's name. This person was a dragon race and above king class at that. I subconsciously retreated back. Karina moved into his view. She faced his former master but her body suddenly tensed up and moved aside. She paled up and was trembling in fear.
"Now then. Since you have triggered my wrath, you should know the consequences right?"
He said. Flame appeared out of nowhere around him. The red colored flame gathered and transformed into a 1 meter diameter ball. I felt a bad feeling from this. With a snap of his finger, the ball shrank and the color changed from red color to white. I quickly used the magic charm which was made by my master.
BOOM!!!
I was thrown out from the building as my view turned white from the sudden explosion. My protective barrier was barely made it to protect me from the damage. I fell and landed on the courtyard. I looked up and saw black smoke rose from a wide gaping hole on the 9th floor where my office was located.
The students and teachers gathered as they were curious about what had happened. This was bad. At this rate, they would got caught up in that youngster rampage.
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A student suddenly screamed.
"What happened? Oi!! Get hold of yourself!!"
The nearby teacher was trying to made her to her sense.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Another scream came from another direction. Scream of the students was heard from here and there. The teachers and the sane students were trying to snap them out of their agony.
"This is... Don't tell me!!"
I quickly looked at the gaping hole. There, I saw the youngster was standing at the edge of the hole and looked down at us with no expression.
"Wide area mind interference..."
I muttered. I suddenly felt a shiver in my spine when our eyes met. He looked back into the hole as if to say something to Karina who was stayed inside if she was unscathed from the explosion. He then jumped down from the 9th floor. He landed with a loud sound and the dust rose into the air. He stepped forward. He was approaching me.
"RUN!! EVERYONE RUN!! THOSE WHO ARE STILL SANE, BRING THOSE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY MIND INTERFERENCE OUT OF HERE!!"
I ordered them. I looked forward and widened my eyes. Behind the youngster, I saw Karina was being helplessly being bound by a chain and was carried by her nape by a 2 meters tall gryphon which I had only seen in a book illustration.
I braced myself and pulled out my magic wand from my pocket. I looked warily at the youngster. He raised his right hand. A chunk of ice in the shape of a stake appeared out of nowhere. In front of it, three magic circles appeared in stacked form.
I prepared to face the stake with my magic. However, as I did so, the stakes and magic circles multiplied. Now, there were three of them. Judging from their angles, they were aimed at my legs and chest. I casted the magic barrier but before I managed to finish my casting, sharp pain was felt from my left flank. One meter ice stake had penetrated my flesh and dug into the ground behind me.
Before I could react from the pain, a new stake penetrated my right shoulder followed by my left thigh and finally my a stake managed to cleave some of the flesh of my right hand. The wand fell down as my hand lost its strength.
"Let's finish this."
He said. I closed my eyes in surrender. But the attack never came. I opened my eyes and saw a child with light blue hair wearing dark witch robe and hat while sitting on a floating broom was blocking two large stakes in front of me.
"Goodness, what have you done? To think your foolishness had invited an emperor class dragon's wrath, this is why I told you to stop your plan on messing around with that gal right?"
With slightly boyish voice the witch said. Hope appeared in my despaired situation.
"My apologies, Shishou!!"
I said to the person before me, my master who had taught me witchcraft, Ancient Witch of Darkness, Lucio Ferman. She glanced at me once. With a snap of her finger, the stakes pinning me shattered. I lost my support and fell to the pool of blood under me. She took out her wand and with a single swing, my wound disappeared as if it was a lie.
"You must get out of here. I'll handle the rest."
She said while facing the human shaped dragon at the other side.
