I pulled Alex and Nick into the shadows to hide us. Five burly men stepped out of the car. The most muscular man barked something to two guys, and they went to the trunk of the car and pulled something out that I couldn't make out. It was a silver cube, and by the looks of it it was heavy. Maybe it was a piece of technology. I had no idea. I scanned it with my mask but it had no information on the suspicious item. The gang walked towards the door. The most muscular man inserted a key in the keyhole, and pulled the door open. He stepped in first and then the two men holding the silver box, and then the other two men trailing behind them. The door started to close but right before it locked again, I held it open. I peeked through the small opening and the gangsters were long gone. I waved my hand at Alex and Nick to tell them to get in the corridor. They walked in as quietly as they could. I followed behind them and closed the door noiselessly.

I walked behind them so I could see them at all times. We kept on walking down the hall when we heard voices. I put my hands on their shoulders and pulled them down. They looked at me and I raised a finger to my lips, telling them to be quiet. They nodded, and we crept even more silently toward the voices. There was a pile of crates, and we hid behind it for cover. What I saw confused me. When I peeked from behind the crates, I saw a pod. I couldn't see the inside of it because there was condensation on the glass. The strange looking silver box was there too, and it seemed to be giving the pod its power. "What in Helheim is that?" asked Alex.

        "Not sure," I replied.

There were gangsters there too, but very little. I overheard what some of them were saying. "Boss is meeting us in the alley near the Chinese restaurant. He's going to give us instructions on what to do, then we'll drive back here. Understand? We're all going except for Glen and Irene. We're taking two cars. Come on, let's go!"

They started walking to the exit, not noticing us. I pulled my friends into the shadows more just in case. As soon as I heard the side door slam shut, I knew it was safe. Well, safe if you don't include Glen and Irene. They were guarding the pod, so I knew it was important. I turned to Nick and Alex. "I'm going to go check out that pod. You guys stay here and don't make a noise. Understand?"

Alex nodded, but Nick looked like he was deciding whether or not to do something. My mask was off so I could look at my friends better. His mouth kept on opening and closing, as if not knowing what to say. I frowned at him. "Uh, okay... I'm going to go now," I said.

I grabbed my mask and was about to put it on when suddenly Nick took my hand and kissed me. Surprisingly, I kissed him back. His lips were soft and smooth. They fit perfectly on mine, and I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment. When he pulled away, he smirked at me. "I wasn't gonna let you go before I did that."

I gave him a small smile and squeezed his hand before I put my mask and ran silently towards the pod. At least if I died, I had kissed the person I didn't even know I had feelings for.
