See I pray for my people
I know they wanna take the gift of life away from my people
See they only wanna see my people down in the ground , shot or in chains
Now somebody tell me this is not a shame
Langston said I am too America
What is America to me ?
See you don't call a place home when where every corner i turn r somebody is trying to kill me
For my brown skin
For my existence
For my perseverance
Who else you know made it 400 years in slavery ?
I dare you to try and sit here and tell me my people don't represent bravery
We are the definition of the strength
Jim Crow didn't stop us
Robert E lee didn't stop us
400 years in Slavery didn't stop us
lynching didn't stop us
Being attacked by dogs didn't stop us
The clan didn't stop us
Segregation didn't stop us
Beatings didn't stop us
So what makes you think Trump will ?
We have been raped, spit on and beaten black and blue verbally and physically abused
Now America, I dare you to tell me that doesn't sound like strength to you ?
We shall overcome one day
Deep down in my heart I do believe
That we shall overcome one day
Now I don't know when it will be
I know that we have not overcome injustice
We have not completely over came slavery
The only thing that was changed was the physical chains
You are still a Slave
I am still a slave
To what ?
We are Slaves to a system that we constantly say is broken when it was never fixed for us
We are slaves to the brands on our body
we die for these brands on our body like Jesse Williams once said
"I remember a time when we died with brands on our bodies"
Some of us are slaves to national organizations
Slaves to team owners
Slaves to a flag that's supposed to represent the United States when I definitely know I live in the divided states of america
I live in ruckus
I live In 2020 where a lot of people just look at your skin color
as if that's the only thing they need to know who you are and what you will be
See !
