Why would I be kind to a boy? Artemis thought silently to herself. Granted a handsome boy, but still a boy.
Selene seemed startled at the interruption for a second, but quickly regained her composure and fluttery facade as she turned to face the fuming demigod.
"Ah, Percy Jackson!" She gave him a once over, eyes trailing down his body as she licked her lips. "Yes, I see you've inherited your father's good looks." Her flirty eyes met his and she took a step forward, coming face to face with him (or in her case, face to chest, Piper noted. Percy really was too tall for his own good).
"No I'm not." Percy said loudly. "You kind of are." All the campers replied at once like it was a well-rehearsed line, which it kind of was.
Piper didn't really blame her; as a daughter of Aphrodite, even in the loosest of terms, she had a distinct appreciation of beauty. Percy was definitely in possession of a lot of it. She had never really come across someone quite as attractive as him. Don't get her wrong, she loved Jason to pieces and with the life they live, she wouldn't dare to even think about being with anyone else. With his outstanding courage, military cut blond hair, striking blue eyes and the amount of adoration they held whenever he so much as glanced at her, she couldn't think of someone better. But there was something about Percy that just grabbed everyone's attention. She knew from the whispers around camp and the quick glances at the photo of him by Annabeth's bed that he was good looking. What, with that toned body from all the years of training and risking his life, his strong, tan arms, defined jawline, those plump lips, the perfect angle of his nose, his beautiful black-as-ebony hair that seemed to be as wild as the sea, and the crashing waves that he called eyes, how could anyone not be attracted to him?
Piper and Percy were uncomfortable the whole paragraph. They had a brother-sister relationship now and Piper even helped Percy and the Stolls with the ocassional prank.
"I see what you mean." Aphrodite thought loudly. "Aren't you married?" asked Percy. "And you're cheating on your husband and now you want to cheat on your boyfriend too? What kind of a whore are you?" Percy asked her calmly. Everyone was taken aback by the words and the calmness. Everyone thought that Aphrodite was going to curse him, but she just pouted. Percy wasn't even going to try to make her see sense and get back with her husband.
Once, everyone settled back down, Athena continued reading.
Besides the physicalities, Percy was just so good. His heart was purer than the driven snow. No matter the situation, no matter the consequences for himself, or the state he was in, Percy managed to lead them all through hell and back. He had been facing monster after monster in life-or-death situations for close to seven years, knowing that he had to be strong for everyone else. Power radiated off of him more than anyone she had ever met; to be honest, she wouldn't be surprised if he came up to them one day and told them that he had actually taken up the offer of Godhood himself (which, by the way, Piper was still baffled by). The constant acts of bravery he displayed in spite of how much he had suffered never ceased to amaze her, and she admired him to no end. He was constantly battered and bruised, traumatised by everything that life threw at him, yet he always managed to crack a joke and smile as if he had no care in the world. A smile that Piper personally thought could stop a raging war.
The past Gods and Hunters was trying to get over the fact that he had declined godhood. Everyone was mainly focusing on that, but Hestia was focusing on the last part. She knew that the smiles had just been a facade and that it could crack anytime.
"Dude, I heard that before we got to camp, there were only 12 cabins?" Jason asked.
"Yeah." Percy answered.
"Then why-" Jason started again but was cut off by Annabeth.
"Because even though Percy refused godhood, he still wanted his reward. He used it to make the gods swear on the River Styx that they would compile with his wishes. He told Zeus how he wanted every child of every god to have a place at Camp Half-Blood. He wanted demigods to be claimed by 13 or within the first week a new camper arrived. That's why now we have so many campers. The Hermes cabin practically got eighty percent empty. The gods started regularly claiming their children. Then Zeus declared Olympus close. Though it was because of something good or because Percy hurt Zeus' ego - that we never came to know."
Zeus was about to blast Annabeth but Poseidon reminded him. "Brother, we are not allowed to harm anyone. It is a direct message from the Fates themselves. You do not want to get on Lady Chaos' bad side."
But he was Annabeth's, and Piper had never seen two people share so much love in her life.
Speaking of Annabeth, she looked as if she wanted to strangle the goddess, though the wind spirits held her back. Percy merely looked uncomfortable with the supposed compliments, his jaw still set angrily with his veins straining against his tan skin, as if trying to restrain himself from setting off an earthquake and blowing up a lake, something Piper had heard he had unintentionally done before - or was it a volcano? Everyone else was flicking their eyes between the two, not really knowing what to do or daring to speak up.
"It was a volcano actually. It was Mount Saint Helens. One of Lord Hephaestus' forges. The telkhines were there trying to remake Kronos' blade. We needed help from him and he asked us to report back with information on who was using his forge while he was absent. I got caught by the telkhines and told Annabeth to go to Lord Hephaestus and that I would follow her. After she left, the telkhines surrounded all the exits and started to throw lava at me, but because of my dad's nature, I could withstand it. I made an earthquake and allowed water to flow from my body. Then I shot upwards and the next thing I knew, I was on Ogygia. Then I came back to Camp Half-Blood and crashed my own funeral. This was a year before the Titans attacked."
"Wait you mean, that you caused that eruption? It was massive. Almost half a million people were evacuated. Ash had fallen as far as Lake Tahoe and Vancouver and the entire Mount Saint Helens area was closed to traffic within a hundred mile radius. Just how powerful are you?" Reyna fearfully asked. That expression was never seen on her face. She must be really scared.
Everyone's jaw dropped. He was very powerful.
"I don't know." Percy sheepishly replied. "Hephaestus came to Ogygia after I landed there and told me this. I said that surely I wasn't that powerful. Hephaestus said and I quote 'Not powerful eh? Could've fooled me. You're the son of the Earthshaker lad. You don't know your own powers.' That terrified me. I didn't use that power unless it was absolutely necessary."
