(So, the first one sucks, but I want to write another one that's a bit better this time. This one will be cringeworthy and embarrassing but whatever XD. That's why I'm calling the first few chapters 'Test' so I can see what people think of it. Make sure to comment!)
~(Time: After season 3)
~(Rayla's POV)
The wind blew by furiously, and Rayla shook her head irritably. "What's with the wind?" Ezran asked, holding Bait close as the wind tried to blow them away. Callum grabbed Ezran's hand, helping him get his balance and start walking again. Rayla watched them, getting her blades out. I need to be ready. This doesn't seem normal. Callum walked over to Rayla. "You okay? You look nervous." Rayla looked away, walking onwards. "I'm fine. Just preparing for the worst." They had been walking through Xadia for a while now. Callum said that they should get back to Katolis, since Ezran needed to get to the throne as soon as possible. Rayla looked back, sighing. I don't know why I agreed to come... I'm obviously not going to be welcome in Katolis. I'm going to get a lot of looks. She walked onward, fighting against the wind. Callum watched her, hesitated, then took her hand in his. "Somethings wrong." Rayla rolled her eyes. "Yes, something is wrong. This wind isn't normal." Suddenly, she saw a flashing light behind them, and Ezran yelping. Rayla turned instantly, blades ready. Bait had flashed for no reason, and Ezran had gotten the full blast of it. "Ezran??" Callum said, leaping forward to grab his brother. "Callum- I can't see-" Bait made frightened grumbling noises, and Ezran broke off. "Somethings wrong. Bait's really scared... I think something's watching us." Those words sent a shiver down Rayla's spine, but she stood strong with her blades ready. "Guys, get behind me." She said slowly, her voice getting louder over the wind. Callum helped Ezran up and they picked up Bait. He turned a dark grey and grumbled. Rayla looked around furiously. "SHOW YOURSELF!" She shouted over the wind. She heard sticks cracking, and the sound of small tree branches snapping. Ezran held Bait close as he began to squirm. "Bait! Stop!!" He said irritably, trying to stop Bait from wriggling. Suddenly, she heard a low hiss from the trees. Callum jumped, and Rayla crept toward it, her heart pounding. Suddenly, a huge snake like creature leaped out of the bushes at Rayla. She jumped out of the way, and Callum readied his spells. "Fu-" he started, before Ezran let out a scream of terror. Another snake has emerged and was slithering toward Ezran. Rayla jumped toward him and grabbed his hand, pulling him out of the way as the snake struck. "Stay. Very. Still." Rayla said, covering Ezrans' mouth. "These snakes are poisonous. The bite isn't as deadly as Soulfangs, but it will hurt and it'll give you some bad nausea. They are attracted to Bait I'm guessing, since they eat smaller creatures like him." Ezran nodded, looking terrified. Rayla let go of him and threw one of her blades at the snake. It hit it right in the skull and it fell limp instantly. Rayla turned onto the other one, throwing her other blade. It whizzed past the snakes tail, and she cursed under her breath. It went for her, hissing loudly, and she jumped out of the way. It spread its huge frill and spat its boiling red acid onto Rayla's hand. She tried to hold back the agony, but it hurt so much. She never knew these snakes could shoot acid. First for everything I suppose..... she thought blearily, starting to feel dizzy. The last thing she could remember was a new aching pain on the same hand; Callum shouting her name, and not long after hearing the zap of the fulminos (I dunno how to pronounce it) spell. Then everything went black.
~(Callum's POV)
Callum sat beside Rayla, watching her sleep. "How long has it been?" Ezran asked, walking up beside Callum. "All night she's been out." He said softly, watching her face. "I hope she's okay... that acid and bite looks nasty. I shouldn't have let her go into the fight like that..." he laid down beside her, sighing. Ezran held Bait close. "Don't blame yourself. Rayla's always brave, so even if you tried to stop her, she'd keep going anyway." Callum smiled slightly. "True." He looked back at Rayla and saw one of her eyes open to look at him. Almost instantly her face contorted to pain. "Argh- wha-." She began, before Callum hugged her tightly, muffling her question. "Your
Okay!" He said, looking her over. Rayla winced. "You could say that." She remarked, looking at her hand. Callum held her close to him as she studied her hand. "I bet this is my unlucky hand." She said with a small smile. Callum rolled his eyes. "I doubt it." Rayla leaned into him with another wince, looking dizzy. Ezran walked over to Rayla. "Thanks for saving me, for about the 50th time since I've known you." He said with a smile. "Your amazing." Rayla closed her eyes. "Thanks... I guess." She said with a tiny smile. Ezran walked over to the river to give the two some time. Callum sighed, watching Rayla. "Does it hurt? I can try and find something to soothe it...?" Rayla opened her eyes blearily to look at him. "I'm fine, Callum. Let me... rest for a- bit...." she leaned against his chest, and he nodded, carefully wrapping his arms around her. Rayla let out a long, deep sigh, and Callum kept her close, cuddling her. She slept quietly, and Callum thought; I hope she stays safe next time... I can't bare loosing her.
