Rayla sighed softly. It was her second night at Katolis... and everything felt weird. It was exactly like the night before, but things felt different. Callum was acting a little weird, and Ezran was never around anymore, since he had a kingdom to run. Rayla had felt lost all day, unsure of what to do. She laid down on her bed with another sigh, flicking one of the rugs over her. She looked over at Callum's empty bed, wondering where he was. She felt like she needed a hug from him right now. She rolled over onto her side and closed her eyes. I feel so lost.. I don't know what to do... Callum is being weird, and I never get to see Ezran... I miss home so much... I hope I get to see Ethari again.... She felt tears pricking at her eyes and she wiped them away furiously. She pricked her ears, hearing footsteps approaching. She perked up as she saw Callum enter the room. He looked around and put down his sketchbook and bag. He looked around again, spotted her, and shot her a small smile. When he saw her expression, his face changed from happiness to worry. "Hey... are you okay?" He asked slowly, walking over to sit on her bed. She looked down for a moment. "...Yeah.... I'm fine." Callum looked at her. "Tell me. There's something bothering you." Rayla felt anger bubbling through her. Sometimes Callum couldn't just drop it. She got up and grabbed her blades, grasping them but not flicking them out. "You want to know what's bothering me? Well, I'm missing home, and the elves I grew up with. I miss Ethari and Runaan," she paced around her room. "Your acting weird, and I don't see Ezran as much anymore. Life isn't the same as before." She sat down on the bed beside him, looking down at her blades. Callum looked at her hesitantly, and looked down. "I'm only acting strange and keeping my distance because I thought you would want to be alone..." He said softly. Rayla glared at him. "Well, that made me feel a lot better. Being alone in a strange castle with humans who basically still hate me." Callum looked at the ground, and closed his eyes. "I'm sorry... I didn't want to get into any awkward situations so I stayed quiet... I was selfish, and I should have stayed with you... I'm sorry." Rayla watched him for a moment, feeling emotions bubble up inside her. "....Callum...?" She asked quietly. He looked up and looked her straight in the eyes. "Mhm?" "....What if I never see any of them ever again...? What if I never see Runaan or Ethari again..?" Callum hesitated, then drew her into a warm hug. "Whatever happens, I'm here, from now on and forever." She drew back and leaned against his side. "Thank you Callum..." he smiled. "Well, your charming human companion is always here when you need me." He said teasingly, wrapping his arms around her. Rayla rolled her eyes. "You big dumb lump." Callum laughed slightly. "That name is reserved for Soren." "Maybe so, but it suits you." Rayla said, closing her eyes. She felt Callum's body droop slightly against her, and she yawned, falling asleep to peace and quiet for the rest of the night.
