Author's POV

As the couple made an entry through the magnificent door together, it left some of the guests astonished while some were in an awe as they captured their sight. Their presence radiated divinity and strength. Anvita's parents had tears of joy in their eyes while Adhyay's parents were beaming with happiness. Acknowledging their presence, they both moved towards the mandap taking their respective places.

The wedding rituals began and soon the pavilion was filled with sacred chants. Anvita's dad came forward to tie the knot and they both stood up to take seven rounds around the pious fire. With every round, they made promises to each other, which strengthened their relationship even further.

In the first round, they accepted their roles and responsibilities.

Adhyay: I vow to always take care of you and our family. I would cherish our bond with love and respect. I'd always respect your parents like I respect my own. They are just not your parents from now on, but they are equally mine. Today, they are not giving me their daughter, they are getting a son who would form a such a bond with them that cannot be severed in any situation.

Anvita: I vow to take responsibility of our family and cherish them with affection. As I'd step into your home, I aim to bring prosperity with me.

They took the second round around the fire, overcoming joy and sorrow.

Adhyay: I vow to protect you. I would stand in the way of every sadness that comes your way. Every bad thing would have to cross me first before reaching you. I'd never let you down.

Anvita: I would always stand with you as your strength. My faith will guide us in every tough situation of our lives. I hope to become that ray of light in your life that will bring you out of the darkness.

Taking the third round, they dedicated themselves to each other.

Adhyay: I'd always strive to give you a life that you deserve. You'd never have to ask me twice for anything. My everything belongs to you now.

Anvita: I promise a life full of loyalty towards you. My love towards you would not waver in any circumstance. You are my everything now.

They take the fourth round, accepting each other's families.

Adhyay: By coming into my life, you have completed it. I couldn't have asked for a better partner. I promise to pass on all the better part of myself to our family.

Anvita: I vow to shower your family with love and care and make them mine. I promise to honour our family's values and form an unbreakable bond with them.

In the fifth round, they switch places and Anvita comes in front of Adhyay.

Adhyay: I have found a friend in you, someone who has made my life better just by stepping into it. I vow to cherish this bond and keep strengthening it with love. You are my religion now. So, my worship will begin with you and end at your feet.

Anvita: You are my happiness, and you are my sorrow. Regardless of what life has to offer us, you'd always find me by your side.

They took sixth round around the fire and their happiness could not be deciphered.

Adhyay: Now, since we have taken the sixth step together Anvita, my heart feels ecstatic. Will you be kind enough to always fill my heart with such happiness?

Anvita: I vow to bring immense happiness to your life. I'd be your peace and I'd be your home. I would deluge your heart with the warmth of my love.

With the completion of the seventh and the last round, they establish an unbreakable bond.

Adhyay: I am yours now for eternity and I am thankful that you accepted me as your husband. I dedicate my entirety to you.

Anvita: After completing this last round with you, I have become your wife. I'd feel honoured to fulfill all the promises I've made to you on our wedding day.

As the wedding rituals came to end, it was time for the bride to bid farewell to her parents. It was the moment that they were not ready to witness. As Anvita moved towards her parents, her eyes got filled with tears.

Anvita's POV

Babul jo tumne sikhaya, jo tumse paya,

Sajan ghar le chali.

"Mu- mumma, papa" My voice started to break as I called them.

Sajan ghar le chali.

Sajan ghar mein chali.

Yaadon ke lekar saye, chali ghar paraye,

Tumhari laadli.

They both refused to make eye contact with me as they could not bear the pain of separation from their daughter.

Kaise bhul paungi mein baba, suni jo tumse kahaniya.

My dad lifted his gaze up just slightly and his eyes were moist. Mom was also trying her best to not cry in front of me. Moving closer to them, I took them both into a hug and we all broke into audible cries.

Chhod chali aangan mein maiyya, bachpan ki nishaniya.

Breaking the hug, I cleaned mom's tears. She placed her hand on my cheek and said, "Jaise iss ghar ko itna pyaar diya hai, vaise uss ghar ko bhi pyaar se bhar dena."

(Just like you have filled this house with so much love, do the same at your new house too.)

I nodded and my eyes travelled towards Rehaan who was hiding his face from me.

"Rehaan" I called him, but he didn't turn his face.

"Chhotu" I called again, and he turned around all of a sudden taking me into hug. I stumbled at my place with his action but balancing myself, I wrapped my arms around him.

"Didi mat jao na please. Mat jao na. Aap chali jao gi to mujhe tang kaun karega?"

(Sister, please don't go. Please don't go. Who'd annoy me if you'll go away?)

Rehaan has never verbally expressed his love towards me. We fight over petty things but would also fight others if someone tried to harm the other. That is the beauty of a siblings' bond. Controlling my tears, I tried to console him.

"Who said that I won't still annoy you even when I'm gone huh? And I'm not even going that far so you can come visit me anytime." I said patting his cheek and he gave me weak smile in return.

Ban gaya pardes ghar janam ka, mili hai duniya mujhe nayi.

After meeting everyone, I began fixing my dupatta when I felt a tug. I turned around and my eyes fell on the knot that was still tying me to him and I realised that he had been following me around this entire time. He moved closer to me and fixed the dupatta that had slipped down a little from my head. Placing a kiss on my forehead, he cleaned some of the vermillion that had smeared on my cheek with his thumb.

Naam jo piya se meine joda, naye rishton se bandh gayi.

I was looking in his eyes that held immense love and he smiled softly at me. I broke our eye contact when I realised that my mother- in- law and father- in- law were coming towards us to give us their blessings.

Mere sasur ji pita hain, pati devta hain,

Placing her hand on my head she said, "Ghar ki Lakshmi hain aap. Ye to hamare Adhyay ki kismat acchi hai jo use aap mil gayi aur humein ek beti."

(You are the Goddess Lakshmi, the one who brings prosperity into the house. Adhyay is lucky to have found you and I found a daughter in you.)

His father repeated the same gesture and gave me his blessings. "Hum kya kahe aapse beta, bas ek vadda kar sakte hai ki aapko kabhi aapke papa ki yaad nahi aane denge."

(What can I say to you child? I can only promise you that I'd never let you miss your dad)

They were not even done talking to me yet when I saw Dhruv striding towards me.

"Bhabhi.. Bhabhi"

Devar chhavi Krishn ki.

He bent down to touch my feet, but I immediately stepped back.

"Ye kya bhabhi? Maa dekhiye na bhabhi mujhe apna aashirvaad nahi de rahi" he whined, complaining to his mother.

(What is this sister-in-law? Mom look she won't even give me her blessings.)

"Nahi Dhruv, aap mere liye Rehaan jaise hai. Don't do that."
(No Dhruv, you are like Rehaan to me)

Hearing this, he took me into a hug. A smile came across my face as his actions reminded me of my younger brother.

"Ab theek hai bhabhi?" he said breaking the hug. I nodded in response, and everyone broke into laughter.
(Is this okay?)

Leaning against my ear, Maan said, "Chalein Anvita? Hum aapko aapka ghar dikhane ke liye utavele ho rahe hai"

(Shall we go Anvita? I'm getting impatient to show you your house.)

Sajan ghar mein chali,

Sajan ghar mein chali.
