Horace's POV:
The Battle for the Peculiardom was finally over. My clothes were awful looking. Scorch marks and tears were all over it, but that was the last thing on my mind.
"Where's Y/n?!?" I asked in a panic. I haven't seen her since she was grabbed by a wight and taken away when we first arrived at the wight's hideout. She has just been gone and I missed her like crazy.
"I dunno mate, we cleared out all of the holding cells upstairs, in the basement, and all of the testing rooms. She wasn't there at all. Don't worry, we'll find her." Millard said.
"How do you expect me to NOT worry?!?" I yelled. Everyone took a slight step back. "Where is Emma? She was the one who saw her last, she should know where she is." I said.
"Emma and Jacob are inside looking for her." Said Hugh quietly. I started towards the tall, dark tower again, hoping I could find them, and help them search. But, just as I was about to go through the door, it opened. Out came Emma, Jacob, and Y/n. But Y/n was struggling against their grip. I rushed over and hugged her. But she didn't do anything in response. Not a word, not an attempt at a hug, nothing.
"Y/n, it's me. You're ok now." I said.
"W-who?" She said. I thought she was just playing around.
"What do you mean, who, it's me, Horace."
"I-I don't..." She started, but Jacob finished.
"We found her in the far corner of one of the testing rooms. She tried throwing us out, but her telekinesis was too weak."
"And look!" Emma said, she grabbed her ankle and lifted it up so everyone could see the underside of her foot, "she's got the stitches." Her foot had two cross-like stitch marks. Right over the sole of her foot. Right where her second soul was.
"No," I said. I stumbled back a bit and stared at the two marks on her foot. "No no no no. This... this isn't what was supposed to happen. She was supposed to be ok. My-my dream... it wasn't like this. It was not like this at all. This isn't how it is supposed to be." My breathing became shallow, "This isn't right. She's supposed to be fine." I started looping back into what I said before.
Millard put his hand on my shoulder, an attempt to comfort me. "Horace-"
"NO!" I shouted, pushing his hand away. Y/n looked at me, she looked confused. She looked... empty.
"Well she's gotta remember something," Enoch said, "she can't just not be there at all."
"Her name and her peculiarity. That seems to be all." Emma said. I walked back up to Y/n slowly.
"Y/n," I began, "What's my name?" She shrugged. "A-alright... um, what is yours?"
"Y-Y/n..." She said slowly.
"What can you do?" I asked. She looked to her right and slowly made a branch on the ground rise, and then fall. "What else do you know?" She shook her head. She looked scared now and began struggling against Emma and Jacob again.
"We need to get her to the Bird." Said Millard quietly.
"And what will she do?!?" I snapped.
"Something. There has got to be a way to fix this."
"The loop with all the stolen peculiarities collapsed with the other half of hers in it. There is nothing, NOTHING, we can do." I said, walking towards Millard. "She's gone, and there is no reviving her."
"But if we could just-"
"Millard! You turn to the Bird for everything! You think she can fix every problem. If I remember correctly, it was Ymbrynes who started this whole situation and it was us who fixed it. So no, we are not taking her to see Miss P. She will see her when she gets back. Because no matter what you think might happen, it won't." I said, jamming my fingers into Millard's chest. He was nearly half a foot taller than I was and stronger than one may imagine, but I didn't care.
"Fine," he said, "but remember it was Miss Peregrine who saved your arse and if it wasn't for her you would've died." He shoved me off and walked away. I shook my head and turned back to Y/n. But it wasn't Y/n. It was the shell of Y/n. Her eyes were empty. Her smile wasn't there. Her whole face looked glazed over with an emotionless stare. It made me sick to see her like this.
"We just need to make her remember," I said quietly.
"Horace, it won't work," Bronwyn said.
"How do you know?"
"Did you not see all those people at the Peculiar Archives in that tourist loop? They all had the same thing in common with Y/n. They were all gone mentally, but there... physically." She said.
"Yeah, but Abe had only a portion of his peculiarity removed... and- and he was fine...." I said.
"But everyone is different, they may have taken too much of her soul." Jacob said, "they only took a bit of my grandfathers peculiarity..."
I looked around. Everyone's eyes wandered between Y/n and I. I began shaking my head again. "That still doesn't explain why I dreamt something different."
"Horace... you may have just been denying what you saw... you might've altered it in your head..." Emma said cautiously.
"I didn't. I know what I saw. Y/n is supposed to be fine."
"Well she isn't. Can we all just accept this already?" Enoch said.
"You're such a heartless bastard." I said, glaring at him.
"Heartless is the wrong term. I have plenty of hearts. I lack emotion." He said.
"You're absolutely twisted." I mumbled.
"Thank you." He said. I shot him a look.
"Horace... Y/n is not going to come back from this. I'm sorry." Said Emma. I nodded. But I still won't accept this.

Hope you enjoyed this! I read somewhere that you need to kill the mind, not the body. You should leave an empty shell. I think it worked really well for my first try. If you liked it (or if you didn't🤷♀️) drop a like, comment a request, and add to your library! I'd really appreciate it!
Very Peculiarly Yours,
