Never did I realize how fast two weeks could pass; they do pass quickly though in a blur of colors and events that soon come together. Each passing day the atmosphere of the compound grew more tense and everyone-including myself- was on edge over everything. Those with girlfriends dared to skip days just to spend and value the time with them which Jordan allowed seeming empathic. The rest of us showed up everyday at the exact time ready for another long day of conditioning then reviewing the new, stricter guidelines for the military.
Two weeks of this became monotonous as well as stressful. After the day's work I often found myself passing out in the bunks with Jenna; only heading home to retrieve clothing when needed. Never had we been caught then again we were so exhausted after the day's work they probably wouldn't care.
Now though our two weeks were up. They had agreed to give us a single day to rest and get ourselves together again before we headed out. This mean we were all laid out in our offices soaking in the time we had left. You could hear Aleks and James laughter as they play video games in the lounge and Jordan's frantic last minute preparation. I myself, was slouched down in my office chair literally just letting the seconds tick by.
Sure I could go do things and make the most of it, but at the same time I enjoyed this.
I enjoyed just feeling free.
My eyes flutter shut, but I don't have a chance to even drift off. The door to my office clicks open and the sounds followed by a girlish giggle.
"Stop snickering.", I mumble.
"Oh Kevin you and I both know you think it's adorable.", Jenna states. I chuckle slightly shaking my head, but not denying it as her laugh was very adorable.
"Full of yourself much?", I ask. My eyes open and I'm met by Jenna staring at me curiously, a broad grin on her lips despite the daunting thoughts of tomorrow. Then again maybe it was only me who was focused on it.
"Eh it's good to be confident.", Jenna shrugs hopping off my desk. I raise an eyebrow watching her closely.
"Arrogance and confidence are very different."
"Fair enough. You do though, it's written all over your face.", Jenna snickers. I roll my eyes playfully and hope she was just kidding. Knowing myself though, I probably did spill everything by just the look on my face.
"Can I help you?"
"I want you to come spend time in the art room with me, I heard there won't be one where we're going so I want to spend as much time on there as I can."
"Why do I need to come then?"
"Because I want to spend as much time with you...just in case..", Jenna says before swallowing her smile fading. Knowing exactly what she meant; I stand up and grab her hand. Jenna's smile returns a little as we scurry to the art room.
Upon walking in, I can hardly believe it's the same room as before. The walls have been painted a bright color and sheets of papers covered in drawings cover the walls and tables. That's not the only change though. Jenna's eyes visibly light up at the sight of it. She tugs my hand leading me over to a table where she picks up a tiny drawing that would easily fit in the pocket of my jeans. On it there's a tiny doodle that messy but I can still make out the two people that highly resembling me and her; both smiling wide.
"Us?"
"Mhm, I was practicing small scale.", Jenna says nonchalantly. For some reason though I can't bring myself to believe her fully choosing the idea of just in case.
"It's really good.", I say softly looking over it again.
"Thank you. I'm highly considering smuggling a pencil and sketch book in my stuff."
"You could ask.", I point out.
"True.", she says shrugging. I chuckle and shake my head. Taking a seat, I look at Jenna who's gathering an abundance of art supplies. She places them out meticulously before pressing her pencil to the paper. I watch her draw, my lips in a small smile.
"How do you feel about tomorrow?", she whispers.
"Good, you?"
"Good.", she states although her tones entirely too nervous to be 'good'. Sighing, I look at her while fiddling with a spare pencil she'd brought over.
"You're lying."
"So were you, let's try again.", Jenna states looking at me.
"I'm nervous...scared..."
"Terrified?", Jenna asks cutting me off.
"Yeah that.", I sigh nodding. Jenna sets her pencil down and pull me into her embrace. I return it, enjoying the feeling of holding her just as always.
""I am too."
"Don't be you're literally built to do this.", I assure her. All the while I reach up and move a piece of hair of her eyes while staring into her eyes hoping to come across as comforting.
"Yeah but...it doesn't feel right Kevin. I know what they did but you guys are in pieces over going back and you expect me to go 100 percent?", she asks frantically. I sigh knowing I should have been a bit smarter and made sure that we wouldn't affect Jenna. At the same time we were all nervous, none of us could have refrained.
"I'm sorry...it's just hard. We've seen terrible...awful things and now we're being forced to go back in...None of us meant to scare you."
"I know it's just hard. There are so many things I could do even though this is my purpose.", Jenna says.
"What are you saying?"
"I could run off become an artist, be a clown who knows. I'm too chicken to do it though, anyway I can't leave my KevKev.", she chuckles punching my arm lightly. I chuckle softly but feel unsettled at her words. The last thing we needed was Jenna not acting right when we're were all off our game already.
"Jenna you gotta stay with me."
"I am."

"Jenna!", I whisper yell shortly before I run into a wall. I groan lifting myself off the ground as Jenna carefully rounds the corner. She gives me a questioning look while I try to readjust my shirt and act natural.
"What the hell are you doing here? Kevin it's six am!"
"I know, I know. I got you something though.", I say. Jenna nods before taking my hand, and leading me down the corridor. At the end of the hallway, we emerge into Jenna's dimly lit room. She takes a seat on her bed still looking groggy. I sit next to her, receiving an expecting look from her.
"What did you get me?"
"Well you gave me the drawing so I wanted to give you something.", I state. Jenna nods looking alittle worried. I reach into the pocket of my hoodie and pull out a small silver chain that glimmers in the light.
"What's that?", she asks studying it.
"A necklace, it's pretty plain but I thought I'd be nice. Turn so I can put it on you?", I ask. Jenna nods and turns slightly allowing me to connect the hook, securing the necklace around her neck. She reaches up, pinching the pendent between her thumb and index finger. She observes the little disk that had a "K" stamped into it.
"A K?"
"Yeah so when in combat you can always have me near.", I say smiling. Jenna hugs me tightly and buries her face in my neck.
"Thank you Kevin.", she whispers.
"Anything for you."
"You better go...go to your office and take a nap. You're gonna need it for later, also make sure to have your uniform ready today's the day.", Jenna says. I nod and kiss her forehead before going to my office feeling a little rejecting but knowing she had good intentions. I quickly settle into my chair, knowing I couldn't fall asleep but attempting to anyway.

This is really bad and I apologize.
I'm having a really off night, I've just got a lot going on between tests and projects at school, problems with my home life (mainly my dad and ugh), then writing for here, and drawing enough to keep myself satisfied.(drawings my release for stress and everything really if you didn't know, literally wipes my mind clean.)
So again I apologize if you guys think this is bad, but I'm gonna go watch the creatures and possibly try and sleep I don't know...,
Ps. Kevins v scared of losing her that's why he's essentially a broken record.
