Kristen POV:

Danny and I were just catching up, since we haven't seen each other since 2001, and we also grew up together. So, as we were talking his desk phone rang, and I kind of knew that we were about to get a case.

"Reagan," He answered. "Damn it, okay. Does the Commissioner know? Okay, my partner and I will be there in a few minutes."

"Danny what's going on?" I asked, after he hung up the phone.

"We've got us a case partner."

"What is it?"

"A cop from the 27 has been shot and killed."

"Who?"

"Detective Marcus Thompson."

"Danny, lets go." I say grabbing my coat. Danny grabs his and we leave the Precinct. We got into his car and headed to the Crime Scene, which was in Central Park.

"Kristen, did you know this guy?" Danny asked, before we got out of his car.

"Yes, I did," I answered. "He was my former partner."

"Any idea who would want to hurt him?"

"No, I don't but I would like to find out."

"Okay." We got out of the car, and walked to the crime scene. We were let under the tape, and we were greeted by Commissioner Frank Reagan, Danny's dad. "Commissioner."

"Detective Reagan and Detective Meyers," Frank replied.

"Commissioner," I say.

"I see you have already started at the 54."

"Yes sir, thank you for talking with my Superior Officer for transferring me."

"Anything for one of my best Detectives." Then, Frank came closer to me and whispered in my ear. "Especially when it's one that I watched grow up with my oldest."

"Yes sir. My parents were proud of me, when I graduated from the academy."

"How are they?" Frank asked.

"They're not okay."

"Why not?"

"They were killed Commissioner, just yesterday."

"I'm sorry to hear that, they were good cops."

"Yes sir they were. Once, I get everything settled, I'd like to have a funeral for them and Commissioner Reagan, I'd like you to conduct the ceremony, I know that they would have wanted you too."

"Of course." He gave me his cell phone number. "You call me at anytime when you need to."

"I will, thank you, sir."

"Get to work."

"Yes sir," We reply, in unison. I went over to Marcus' dead body, and lifted up the sheet over him. I just hung my head down and shook it at my dead friend and former partner. Danny came over and put his hand on my shoulder in a very comforting way, I couldn't help but smile at his touch. I was about to cry, but I stayed strong and held it in. We looked around for any witnesses, and my eyes landed on his wife Sarah, and his sister Courtney.

"Danny, could you excuse me please?" I ask.

"Sure, but I'll come with you," Danny said.

"Alright." We walk away from his body and go over to Courtney and Sarah. "Sarah, Courtney."

"Kristen!" Sarah exclaimed.

"I'm sorry that this happened to Marcus," I answer. "This is my partner Detective Reagan."

"Hey there," Danny said.

"Detective Reagan, this is Detective Thompson's wife Sarah and his kid sister Courtney."

'What happened? I thought that you were still at the same Precinct as my brother?" Courtney asked.

"I was transferred first thing this morning. I told Marcus last night, on our last tour together."

"Oh no," Sarah replied, as she held her stomach.

"What is it Sarah?" I ask, concern in my voice.

"I don't feel very well." Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and she passed out but I caught her.

"Call a bus!" I exclaim. Danny pulled out his cell phone and called a bus. It was there in five minutes. The paramedics came over to where I was with a stretcher and they took her to the hospital. Courtney was about to go with her but I stopped her. "Whoa Courtney, I still need to ask a few questions."

"Right, sorry," Courtney replied.

"Do you know anyone that would have a beef with Marcus?" I ask.

"Well, of course. He was a cop and a damn good one too."

"Okay," Danny said. "What about someone that your brother busted, that would have wanted him dead?"

"No, not to my knowledge," Courtney answered. "Anything else?"

"No, Courtney if you and Sarah still have my number call me if you two can think of anything," I said.

"We will, Kris." She got into her car and went to the hospital. Danny and I finished up what we needed to do and then headed back to the Precinct. When we got back, Danny took me into his office and shut his door. He knew that I had to get something out.

"Kris," Danny began. "I know you wanna scream or something come on, I'll take it."

"Danny," I said, I just broke down. I fell to the floor, and Danny automatically ran to my aid and he grabbed me into one of his comforting hugs.

"Shh, shh it's okay, Kris."

"If this was someone that Marcus and I busted, then they may come after me next."

"Hey, look at me." I looked from the ground to him. "I will not let that happen. You hear me?"

"Yeah, yeah I hear ya, Danny."

"Because if they do come after you, I will make sure that they will regret it."

"Danny?"

"What Kristen?"

"You're keeping something from me."

"Maybe I am." I just looked at him.

"I've known you, since we were kids I know when you're keeping something from me."

"Okay I am. But, I don't want to talk about it here, so at the end of our shift."

"Alright. If we get to go home tonight since we're dealing with a cop's murder."

"I know. I'm sure Sarge will let us leave."

"I hope so." We leave his office and go to our desks to begin the case.

* * *

For what seemed like hours we were looking at all of the case files that involved any gun collars that Marcus and I took down. When Danny's desk phone rang, he picked it up.

"Yeah Reagan," he said. "Okay we'll be there shortly." He hung up.

"Danny what's up?" I ask.

"The lab got the bullets out of Detective Thompson."

"Let's go then." We leave and go to the lab. When we get there we're handed bullets in an evidence bag, I look at it and I recognize the bullets right away. ".45?" I question.

"Yes, Detective Meyers," the M.E said.

"Thanks," Danny replied. We then leave and head back to the Precinct. When we get back, I go to my computer, and pull up the case files again. Then, I found the guy that Marcus and I busted on a gun collar for possession of a 45 millimeter handgun.

"Tennyson Carter?" I question. "Where are you at you son of a bitch?" Danny was behind me since I could feel him breathing down my neck. "Danny, can you not breathe down my neck?"

"Sorry, I'm just watching you work," Danny replied.

"Why?"

"Because, it's interesting. You're fast."

"Why do you think your dad made me a Detective First Grade in the first place?"

"Really?"

"Yes really." I print out his case file, and grab it out of the printer. "I'll need a Warrant for him."

"I know exactly who we can call." Danny pulled out his cell, and he put it on speaker. "Hiya Erin."

"Hi Danny," Erin answered.

"Can ya hook me up with a warrant?"

"For who and why?"

"For Tennyson Carter," I reply. "He's a suspect in the murder of a cop."

"Kristen Meyers, is that you?"

"Yeah hi Erin. I work at 54 now and I'm Danny's partner."

"That's great, but Danny wouldn't that...." Danny cut her off.

"Erin, come on sis," Danny interrupted her. "Can we get the warrant or not?"

"Yeah, I'll bring it over in ten."

"Thank you," We answer, in unison. I looked at Danny with a very confused look on my face.

"What?" He asked.

"Why did you cut her off?"

"I'll tell you later."

"You better Daniel Fitzgerald Reagan." I laugh and so does he.

"You had to say my full name didn't you?"

"Come on Danny, you know I had to make a joke."

"Yeah I know." A few minutes later, Erin came into the Precinct and I got up. I ran to her and hugged her.

"Erin, it's so good to see you," I say.

"It's good to see you too," Erin said. "So are you still in love with Danny?" she whispered. I just nodded.

"But, I can't do anything about it since we're partners."

"I know." We walk back over to Danny. Erin hands him the warrant on Tennyson Carter.

"Thanks Erin," Danny said.

"You're welcome, now who's the cop that got murdered and what precinct were they from."

"My former partner from the 27, Detective Marcus Thompson," I answer.

"I hate to hear that Kristen," Erin replied.

"Thanks." Erin left, then Danny and I do also. We head to the address that I got for Tennyson. When we got there, we went to the door, and knocked on it. Tennyson, who is in his early thirties, about 6'2", dark skin, dark brown eyes, and short black hair, answered.

"Tennyson Carter?" Danny asked. He just nodded, Danny and I flash our badges, and he ran. "Hey!" Danny yelled.

"Danny, we gotta split up!" I exclaim.

"Right, you go inside the house, and I'll go around back," Danny answered. I just nod, and run inside gun drawn. When I get inside, I can tell he's still in there.

"Tennyson you can run but you can't hide!" I yell.

"Wanna bet, bitch?" Tennyson asked, as he came out from behind a wall and pointed his 45 at me.

"You wanna shoot two cops in one day, go right ahead," I taunt. I hear his gun cock and then I hear the back door open. He points the gun at Danny, and pulls the trigger. "NO!" I yell. I run in front of the bullet, it goes straight through my shoulder, I fall, Danny catches me, and then he shoots Tennyson.

"Kristen," Danny says, I feel him grab me. "Don't do this to me, don't quit on me." I slightly nod.

"Is...he...dead?" I ask, through my labored breathing.

"Nah, I just wounded him."

"Call for help."

Danny POV:

"This is Detective Daniel Reagan, shield number 8714," I say, into the radio on my shoulder. "I've got a 10-13, shots fired at this location, two causalities. One of them is a cop, my partner, Detective Kristen Meyers. I repeat we have an officer down. I need a bus to this location." Kristen starts to lose consciousness, and then she blacks out. "Kristen, come on. Wake up." When she doesn't wake up, I let go of her, wrap my jacket over her shoulder to keep pressure on the wound, and go over to Tennyson. I slap handcuffs on him, and I rough him up a little bit. "Why did you shoot my partner?! Huh?!"

"She's a cop, that's what I do," Tennyson answered.

"Did you kill Detective Marcus Thompson too?"

"Yes." I hear sirens in the near distance.

"You hear that?" I ask. He just nods. "Yeah, that's your future. You're screwed. Tennyson Carter, you're under arrest for the murder of Detective Marcus Thompson, and the attempted murder of Detective Kristen Meyers. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say or do, can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you. Do you understand your rights as I have said them to you?"

"Yes."

"Good." I take him outside, and forcibly put him in the backseat of a patrol car. Then, I run back inside to get Kristen, who's still out. I pick her up, the paramedics show up, and put her onto a stretcher. "Can I go with her? She's my partner."

"Sure Detective Reagan," a paramedic answered. I get into the ambulance with her. As soon as the doors on the ambulance close, I grab her hand. A few minutes later, we arrive at the hospital and they take her into an operating room. I sit down and start thinking to myself. I never realized just how much I loved her, until she was shot, shot saving me I might add, I would die if something happens to her. I don't ever want to leave her side, but I can't act on my feelings towards her because, we're partners. Maybe dad will make an exception for us. I pull out my cell phone and call dad.

"This is the Commissioner," Dad answered.

"Dad," I reply.

"Danny what's going on?"

"Kristen is in the hospital."

"Son what happened?"

"Well let's just say, we found Detective Thompson's killer. He tried to shoot me, but she jumped in front of the bullet, and it was a through and through in her right shoulder." I started freaking out.

"There's more to this, isn't there?"

"Yes, there is. Do you think that you can get here to the hospital?"

"Yeah, what hospital?"

"St. Victor's."

"I'll be there shortly."

"Thanks dad."

"Of course son." I hang up and wait for dad to get here, when a doctor came out of the operating room.

"Detective Reagan?" He asked.

"Yes," I reply.

"We've managed to stop the bleeding, and stitch up the wound."

"There's a but?"

"But, she may have side effects from the shooting, but they're nothing to worry about."

"May I see her?"

"Not yet, we need to get her into a room, and then when she's in one we'll let you know."

"Alright thanks doc."

"You're welcome." The doctor left, went back into the operating room, and I sat back down.
