Philosophical questioning of the narrator - (introduction)How should I start this story? "Once upon a time?": no, this is far from being a fairy tale, our two protagonists, who intervene in this story, could take it very badly. So, between us, Dear Readers, I don't want to make them angry...

What do you think of "Beyond the Snowy Peaks of the Mountains? : uh... No, still not, it's not a fantastic story!

Well... Let's make it simple: "From the early Middle Ages to the Viking Age?" What? What do you mean, it's too much!?Oh no, wait! I found it! Sit down, turn off the lights: here we go! I promise, this time it's the right start and I also promise not to disturb during the story !

**The story takes place during the golden age of the Vikings, when many people tried to make their mark on history. For most of them it was a failure, they were quickly forgotten leaving their exploits to others who distinguished themselves by their abilities or by their specific links with the gods. The most famous of them were Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons, the Ragnarsons, who were rumored to be descended from Odin the All-Father himself. But they were not the only ones, and Ivar was to find out the hard way...It all began one spring morning, the Ragnarsons had just discovered that their father had hidden from their people that the colonists who had settled in England had been killed... Anger and incomprehension took hold of the siblings' minds. Ivar was in a bad mood and answered in a scathing way every time one of his brothers said something. He was the king of conflict and this created a nice... Conflict. Then they were surprised to hear a horn blown to stop someone from coming. The rest you know...However, what you don't know is that Dagmar Adilsdottir, nicknamed "The Bloody Sword" lived in a nearby village. Although she was 15 years old, she had been on many raids and had many victories to her credit. Despite her young age, no one dared to take on her wrath... Doesn't that remind you of someone?By chance, she also had a strong sibling: 5 sisters, Aldris (17), Brielle (11), Niveig (18), Mëreven (12) and Rannveig (Dagmar's twin). They were born into a particular family that worried the local population with rumors about their true origins on their mother's side. They had all black hair like ebony, eyes ranging from an intense blue to a green that brought out the treetops. Dagmar was unique in having yellow in her eyes and had piercing night vision. They had all inherited the dark beauty of Hallvej, their mother. She was a shield maiden and had fought alongside Ragnar Lothbrok for a time before venturing to new lands.Dagmar helped her two younger sisters train as they did every morning on the family field. They were used to getting up at dawn and enjoying the fact that everyone was still asleep. They liked this short moment of carefree time when no one came to disturb them. Unfortunately, it was short-lived, as Niveig, the eldest sister who annoyed Dagmar with her authoritarian temperament, intervened out of nowhere. The relationship between the two sisters was not over, a grudge had been built up between them since the day Niveig had prevented Dagmar from living her first love story.A duel of glances ensued between them for a few minutes."You're going to stop me from living again!" said Dagmar coldly."Make yourself useful and go to Kattegat" replied Niveig."I am much more useful than you on the battlefield!" Said Dagmar before heading off into the woods and ignoring her sister's request. The older sister had never really appreciated her younger sisters quick exposure to the reality of raids, but she had no say in the matter...Niveig, was exasperated by Dagmar's outburst, which was becoming a daily habit. She called her younger sisters into the family home, hoping that her sister would quickly calm down.Dagmar found herself in front of a river and sat on a rock, feeling the sun's rays that were beginning to get hotter. But she liked the feeling and closed her eyes for a few minutes. She felt the water on her face. When she opened her eyes, she saw a person she knew well. Both of them have hated each other for no good reason since childhood. The few times they spoke to each other, it ended the same way: a violent argument. The most surprising thing was that neither of them tried...He exploded with laughter when he saw her reaction and she looked at him darkly before spraying him in turn."You don't have the right to water me, cat's eyes", he said between two laughs. She ignored it, she knew that he said that to provoke her: he knew too well that she hated this nickname which made her extremely aggressive. She did not support to be criticized, but she refused to attack him on his legs.

She knew as well as he did that these remarks really broke him and made him constantly angry... After all, he was right, why should he be nice to people who criticize him all the time? For the first time, instead of getting angry, she couldn't help but smile, which made Ivar laugh even more.

"I returned the greeting.""I think this is the first time I've been this happy to see you," he said. She looked at him in shock, it was the first time he had ever said anything nice to her."You must be really desperate to be nice" she said.- "My father went back to Kattegat; he's talking with my brothers so I'm bored.""What? They didn't even tell you to come?!" She said in annoyance.- "Why are they... "- "Be careful what you say Ivar Ragnarson, I forbid you to come down yourself!"

He had a blank, she started to blush for the first time in front of him. She had never dared what she thought out loud in front of him, although she found it unbearable, but paradoxically she felt a lot of empathy towards Ivar. Often, sentimental paradoxes only suppressed much deeper feelings...

"Excuse me?" Replied the young Ragnarson, surprised.- "We can talk about something else, you're going to force me to say things I'll regret later.""Okay, then explain to me why you're still hanging out here?"- "I had an argument with the despot who serves as my sister."He looked at her and was amused, he ended up sitting closer to her."You want to know what I think? We both have a lot in common. ""Then why do we fight all the time?""I don't know, but I'm curious where this is going."- "Me too."She looked at him with a defiant smile, as did he: a complicity finally settled between them. A new blank page, had it been turned?
