[Don't You Forget About Me]

Two teens were in a truck, on a date. The boy took a drink from a flask and handed it to the girl, who also took a drink.

"It's like tumbleweeds out there. Where is everybody?" The boy wondered.

"Maybe they moved on to their winter humping grounds?" The girl guessed. "It's freezing."

"You wanna get out of here?"

"No. We finally got the place to ourselves." The girl kissed the boy on the neck.

"You don't like it when the uh - car next to you's bumping up and down and you hear groaning?"

"Nobody can hear us. Can they?"

"Not tonight."

They kissed, and started making out. There was rustling in the bushes next to the truck, and all of a sudden, the door of the truck opened and the boy was dragged out of it. The girl screamed. The boy was thrown to the ground, and a sword was held to his throat by Claire.

The girl yelled, "What the hell are you doing?"

"He knows. Don't you?" Claire asked.

"I swear. I don't know anything. Please." The boy begged.

"What are you?"

The boy looked terrified as he shook his head.

"WHAT ARE YOU?" Claire yelled.

The boy doesn't answer, just continued to struggle, scared. Claire looked back and forth between the boy and the girl but didn't withdraw the sword.

BUNKER, MAIN ROOM - DAY

Sam was sitting at the table. Dean and Holly entered.

"Did you catch us a case?" Dean asked.

"Uh, no. Get this. Some dude took a picture of a weasel riding a flying woodpecker. Midair. It's kinda nuts." Sam replied.

"So, I'm guessing there's nothing on the Amara meter either." Holly said.

Sam glanced at her. "Uh, no. I'm starting to think that God's psycho sister has gone to ground. What about you, you two hear from Cas?"

"No. He said he was working on something to draw her out, but... it's been radio silence since he was here." Dean replied.

"Yeah. All this quiet's starting to wake me up."

Dean pulled out his takeout food from a bag and placed it on the table, looking very excited.

"What the hell is that?" Sam asked.

"That? That's the Elvis." Dean said.

"Elvis?"

"Mmm-hmm."

Sam reached out to touch it. "Is that a - ?"

"That's a glazed donut."

"Yeah."

"Two, actually. One topside, one on the bottom. Now, your inferior versions, they'll just take one donut, split it right down the middle. Mmm mm." Dean clicked his tongue. "Boom!" He blew a kiss.

Sam looked slightly amused. "Alright, well uh, I hope you enjoy it. Seems like Holly might want some." He slid it away from him. "Wow."

Dean looked offended. "You know there are starving children out there."

"Dude, I'm not gonna survive hundreds of monster attacks to get flatlined by some double donut monstrosity."

"The Elvis!" Dean cried as Holly pulled out a knife.

"Share?" She asked, to which Dean nodded.

As Holly was about to cut into it, Dean's phone rang.

"Whatever! How many calories are in that thing?" Sam wondered.

Dean answered his phone. "Hey! Long time. Your Caddyshack review is way overdue. Yeah. You got it. We're there."

Sam and Holly looked up as Dean hung up.

"How do you two feel about South Dakota?"

MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL, SIOUX FALLS, SD

The bell had just rung, and students were leaving for the day. Alex was leaving the building, holding hands with her boyfriend. A girl ran up from behind them.

"Hey! Word on the street is that I'm in the presence of royalty. Future prom king and queen. You guys are in the lead!" The girl cried.

"No way!" Alex exclaimed. "No I mean - yeah, for you," she looked at her boyfriend, "Henry, but not me. Also, people still do that? I thought that was like an 80s thing."

"Oh yeah! There's crowns and everything." Henry told her.

Jody watched Alex at a distance from her truck.

"Come on, let's have fun with it. I'll wear the dress, you wear the tux?"

Alex smirked. "You don't have the boobs for my dress."

"What? Come on, look at those things."

Alex laughed, then noticed one of her teachers walking past. "Hey, Mr. P!"

"Alex! Ready for the test tomorrow?" Mr. P asked.

"So not."

"Well lucky you've got..." he looked at his watch, "18 hours to prep. Good times."

Jody honked the horn.

"See ya!" Alex kissed Henry.

Jody, still watching, smiled and looked away. Alex got in the truck with Jody.

"Oh my God. Chem lab, I fell asleep in a pool of my own drool. Oh, and coach is pulling double practice tomorrow, mid field needs serious tightening."

Jody looked at Alex and smiled.

"What?" Alex asked.

"Just - you're killing it out there." Jody shook her head.

"Shut up."

Jody laughed, then happened to look down and saw some pills sticking out from Alex's bag. She started the car as it started to rain.

"Fitting right in." Jody said.

They drove home and pulled into the driveway. They saw the Impala parked in the driveway.

"Winchesters." Jody noted.

"Why would they be here?" Alex wondered.

Jody shrugged. "I didn't put up the bat signal."

They entered the house to find Sam, Dean, and Holly sitting in the living room.

"Well, there goes the neighborhood. Hi."

"Jody." Sam greeted, hugging her. "Hey. Let me help you out." Sam took the grocery bags from Jody.

"Oh thank you!" Jody replied.

"Yeah, sure."

Jody held out her arms to Dean. "Come here."

"It has been too long." Dean said.

"Hey."

Dean and Jody hugged.

Jody turned to Holly. "Come here, sweetheart."

Jody and Holly hugged.

"Yeah, clearly it's been too long, cause Alex, that is you, right?" Sam teased.

"I don't look that different!" Alex protested.

"It's amazing what you can accomplish when you spend two hours in the bathroom every morning." Claire said.

"Since when are you even up in the morning? I'm surprised you're awake now."

"Hey! I'm pretty sure the guys and Holly didn't come here to watch you two kill each other. Is everything okay? I didn't accidentally butt dial you or anything, did I?" Jody asked.

"I called." Claire informed. "About the monsters. That you refuse to believe are monsters."

"Oh - you gotta be kidding." She turned to the siblings. "You know, if you'd checked in with me, I could have saved you a trip."

"Well, we figured we owed you a visit." Dean reasoned.

"And you know what, actually - I could use the backup." She turned to Sam. "Let me have that." She took the grocery bags back.

"Yep." Sam said.

"I'm gonna put another chicken on. You settle in."

"...You might wanna make it two." Dean suggested.

Sam glanced at Dean and Holly. "Yeah."

Dean and Holly muttered, "I'm starving."

DINING ROOM

Everyone was sitting at the table eating a chicken dinner. Sam, Holly, and Dean were eating like they hadn't had a proper meal in a long time, clearly enjoying themselves. Jody, Claire, and Alex watched them with restrained amusement.

"Mmm! Oh, this bird is fantastic." Dean complimented with a full mouth. Jody looked at him. "When you mix it up with the - potatoes and the, the beans, you guys eat like this every day?"

"It's just chicken." Jody told him.

"It's shaped like chicken! Not a patty, or a nugget!" Sam exclaimed.

"It's amazing!" Holly moaned in delight.

"Can we get to the case?" Claire asked.

There was a long pause as Sam, Dean, and Holly looked at her while ripping into their dinner rolls.

"Three people are missing."

"There is no evidence that they didn't skip town on their own! Two of them were runaways, one was a homeless guy." Jody told her.

"He was last seen at Braden Point. I've been stalking it out."

"Right." Dean replied before reaching over Sam to help himself to another generous helping of mashed potatoes.

"Dude!" Sam cried.

"There's plenty left. Braden Point?"

"It's where the kids go to make out, and yes, there's about four pounds left on the stove." Jody said.

"Guys? There's something out there." Claire told them.

Dean looked at her as he continued to stuff his face.

"People are reporting animals they've never seen before, things stalking their front yards that disappear."

Alex looked at her, annoyed.

"This is according to the - HEY!" Jody looked at Alex, who had tried to sneak her wine glass away. "Put it back!" Alex put the wine glass back. "... neighborhood crime blogs that Claire has been reading."

"They're eye-witness accounts." Claire informed.

Holly shrugged. "Well, we've hunted on less."

"What else you got?" Dean asked.

"Uh, I'm working on it." Claire replied.

"Claire did catch a werewolf. Oh right! Turned out to be a German shepherd with rabies." Alex said.

"And before that was the vampire. Councilwoman into erotic cosplay. I didn't know what cosplay was before that. Super embarrassing for the whole force." Jody added.

"Wow. You've been busy." Dean noted.

"I've been hunting." Claire told them.

"A.k.a.,  menacing innocent people! Claire has a whole string of assaults racked up. The only reason she's not sitting in jail right now is that I'm the sheriff!" Jody reminded her.

"Fine, I've been wrong. But this time, I know there's a monster."

"Can we stop talking about monsters, and hunting? What about real life?" Alex asked.

"Real life? Okay. Yeah, sure. Let's get real. You and Henry set on a weekend yet?"

"What?"

"When you sneaking off to Jody's cabin to screw yourselves silly?"

Alex's eyes widened.

"Ohhh. Here we go." Dean groaned.

Sam, Holly, and Dean looked awkward. Jody looked shocked.

"Um, we're not - !" Alex turned to Claire. "You're completely insane!"

"You might wanna clear your g-tracks before you commit to that." Claire told her.

Sam readied to stand up. "This seems like uh, family business."

Jody hits the table. "Sit! Stay!" Claire smirked. "Um..." She cleared her throat. "Alex, anything you want to say?"

"Nope." Alex replied.

"'Kay, uh, well, um, I may have - I've...definitely seen birth control pills in your backpack."

Alex looked mortified.

"Oh, we're going there." Sam muttered.

"Okay." Dean and Holly said as Claire laughed.

"Oh my God." Alex mumbled.

"Hey, if we can't talk about it we shouldn't be doing it, right?" Jody asked. Sam, Dean, and Holly looked awkward, Holly less so, and a little lost for words. "Right?

Sam stuttered.

"What?" Dean and Holly asked.

"Okay. I'm not gonna tell you that you are too young to be having sex, or you."

"Who's she gonna have sex with, she doesn't talk to anybody." Alex retorted.

"Hey. Um, what I will tell you is that birth control pills are useless against STDs. Whoever you are with needs to suit up! Every time. Always. No pulling up the drawbridge early."

"I know I get it!" Alex yelled as Claire laughed.

"And don't expect the guy, as much as I love Henry, to always show up packing." She looked to Sam and Dean. "Am I right?"

Sam looked down at his plate and took another bite to avoid answering. Dean stared at her blankly. Holly looked slightly uncomfortable.

"What?" Dean asked.

"Seriously?"

"Stop!" Alex cried. "We haven't done anything yet. I'm just - trying to be prepared."

Jody looked in shock at Sam, Holly, and Dean, who were trying their best to look casual. Dean smiled awkwardly before hiding behind his wine glass.

"Great, um, we need some more mashed potatoes, right? Mashed potatoes, I'm just gonna -" she drained her glass of wine, "- I'm gonna get some more potatoes. Potatoes." She went into the kitchen.

Dean took another bite. "This is fun."

Claire snickered. Dean looked to Sam and Holly before Dean and Holly, in sync, downed their wine.

Dean and Holly helped Jody clear the dinner table, and with washing the dishes.

"Nice ambush in there." Dean told her.

"Hey, you guys crashed my pad first!" Jody protested.

"Well, you know, I thought we were going to be helping you with monsters, not birth control."

"Welcome to my world. I mean - don't get me wrong, I love those girls, but... man, I am hanging on by my fingertips. The last guy Claire pegged as a monster, she held a sword to his throat. He is hell-bent on pressing charges."

Holly chuckled lightly. "You know I gotta be honest, I thought it was gonna be Alex with the adjustment issues."

"Oh yeah, it was rough going there for a bit, too. But this year, everything clicked, she's dating the most popular guy in school for gosh sake."

"Yeah I know, I barely recognized her." Dean said.

"And but even there, I feel like I should be teaching her about boyfriends, and relationships, you know, stuff a mom would teach her."

Dean chuckled. "Sammy and I could've benefited from a little of that. So could Holly. Don't frown. You know I'm right."

Jody smiled knowingly. "Yeah, but I'm not Alex's mom. I'm not Claire's mom, I didn't raise them, I don't have that kind of history with them."

Holly nodded. "Well we can talk to Claire. And we'll get her to settle down."

"It's not just Claire busting heads."

"There's more?" Dean and Holly asked.

"Yeah... she started college, but she hasn't been to classes for weeks. She doesn't have any friends. She spends all her time trolling for cases, and reading lore."

"Sounds kinda creepy when you put it like that." Dean replied.

"You know I've got nothing against hunting. But if she's hiding in it, because she doesn't have anything else? I'm just - worried about her being so alone."

Dean nodded, looking wistful. "Well, I'll put Sammy on it. He's better with the whole talky thing anyway. Even better than Holly. With her, you know, being a lot like me and all."

"Thanks."

"Yeah."

Claire was stretched out on her bed with her laptop open and a few lore books. There was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Claire called.

Sam opened the door. "Claire."

"Hey."

"You, uh... you got a minute?"

"Yeah." Claire got up and went over to her dresser.

Sam looked at an assortment of missing posters pinned to her wall. "Looks like you and I have the same decorating philosophy.

"It's not like I need the beads on my wall. I was thinking tomorrow we could go to the families of the people who disappeared, and see if there's any connection between them."

"Right, um, about that. Claire - I know how it can be. The hunter life, consumes you. There is no nine to five, you start seeing monsters at every Quick-Mart in town..."

"So you think I'm nuts?"

"No! Of course not. What I'm saying is - I'm not sure you have a case. And lately it seems like you've spent a lot of time hunting monsters that weren't there."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You wouldn't be the first hunter who is trying to escape something."

"And what am I escaping, exactly, aside from mind-numbing boredom?"

"You tell me. And how are things with Jody and Alex? And I'm not - taking sides, I'm just trying to understand what's going on."

"They're not trying to make me feel bad. I mean - Alex says she hates me, but, um... Sometimes I just feel like I'm a little late to the Jody and Alex show."

"Yeah. Well they have been through some heavy crap together."

Claire nodded. "Maybe it's time I just head out on my own. And be a full-fledged hunter."

"Claire. I absolutely understand the need to hunt. Believe me. I do. But the monsters are always going to be there. On and on. Forever. But a chance at a family? At a home? School? That won't be."

Claire remained silent, but thought about Sam's words.

MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL - MORNING

Alex and Henry walked across the street towards the school.

Alex looked at her phone and talked to Henry behind her. "Come on! We're gonna be late."

Henry teased and tickled her. "'Come on, we're gonna be late!'"

Alex laughed. "I wanna catch Mr. P before the test."

When Alex got closer, she realized that all of the other students were stopped, and staring upward. Alex and Henry stopped and looked to see what the others were looking at. Mr. P was hanging from his foot at the top of the flag pole, dead. Alex stared, horrorstruck.

A fireman and coroner wheeled the body off of the school's campus. Jody was there, talking to Sam, Holly, and Dean who were in their FBI garb.

"Victim's name is Stephen Phelps, he was a math teacher. Alex's favorite, actually." Jody informed.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Sam said sympathetically.

"Phelps was found hanging upside-down from the top of the flag pole, duct-taped. Like his neck had been snapped first."

"Any witnesses?" Dean asked.

"Only the lucky custodian that found him."

Holly frowned. "So, how did the killer get Phelps up there in the first place? Unless he had his own fire truck?"

Dean glanced at her. "Yeah, so the killer climbs up 20 feet, a guy on his back, and duct tapes him?"

"Yeah, and why?"

Jody pulled an evidence bag from her pocket. "We found this around the flag pole, if it means anything. I already sent a sample to the lab."

Sam took the evidence bag and looked at it closely. He shook his head, not knowing what it was.

"What else you know about Phelps?" Dean asked.

"Just that he was a damn fine teacher. He really helped Alex out, I know that." Jody replied.

Claire walked up. "I knew it. So, what are we dealing with? Demons, ghost possession?"

"Claire, this is a crime scene, you can't be here."

"Oh, but the fake FBI can?"

"Hey!" Dean and Holly protested, slighty insulted.

"Keep your voice down!" Jody hissed.

Dean reached his arm out and steered Claire away to talk, Holly following. "Come here. Come here."

"I was trying to work the case. The case everyone said wasn't real." Claire told them.

"And you know what, you were right. Okay? There is something unnatural going on here. But you can't just walk up in front of a bunch of officers, and demand that the sheriff give you details on a murder investigation."

"Can we talk about the body now?"

"Oh I'm not even near finished." Dean said as Clare rolled her eyes. "You need to show Jody a little respect. She did you a huge solid by taking you in. She got you set up at school -

"I don't wanna go to school."

"Nobody wants to go to school, Claire, it's school!" Holly exclaimed.

"Exactly!"

"My point is - she's been busting her ass to get you set up with a life. She's feeding you, hell you got a nicer room than I do now. She kept you out of jail..." Dean said.

"I never asked her to."

Holly frowned at her. "And that's what we're talking about. You need to act like you give a crap! You need to appreciate what that woman's done -"

Alex and Henry approached and Alex said, "They cancelled school. So we're gonna... hang out, I guess."

Dean stared at her hard. "Hang out, huh?"

Dean and Holly stared at Henry, not blinking, just judging him - hard.

"Hmm." The siblings hummed.

"...Yeah. Okay then." Alex and Henry walked away.

"Oh yeah. He got the message." Claire said.

"Damn right he did." Dean replied.

"I'm sure." Claire walked away. Dean and Holly
