In Ms. Mendeleiev's class, there's a little time left before class ends as they put in the last bit of the notes on the Muscular System.
Ms. Mendeleiev: Okay, since we covered the Muscular System, I decided to give you all another homework assignment.
Nino: Aw man, again?
Ms. Mendeleiev: Your homework assignment is to write a one-page report on what muscular organ you chose why you think it's important and why you chose it. Have it ready to go for tomorrow. *They write down their homework assignments in their notebooks. Then, the bell rang. * See you all tomorrow. *They all gather their stuff leave the classroom and head into the halls. *
Nino: Just when we thought we could have a homework-free day.
Adrien: Well when we have to do something about the human body, she did mention we would get some homework.
Nino: Good thing not projects.
Alya: Hey, don't jinx it.
Nino: Okay, okay. *He chuckled and they go to their lockers and get their stuff for their next class. Marinette opened her day planner and wrote down what homework assignment she had to do from her Literature class and science classes. *
Marinette: Okay. Got 2 homework assignments. *She grabbed her algebra textbook and notebook; closed her locker and headed to Mr. Tenny's class next. In Mr. Tenny's classroom, Mr. Tenny erased the lesson from his previous class and wrote down a new lesson for his next class as some kids walked in and found their seats. Arwen and Elizabeth sit down together, Serena takes her seat, Esra, Will, and Chris walk in too, Amelia and Samantha go to their seats, and Nicole walks in too. *
Nicole: Mr. Tenny?
Mr. Tenny: Yes, Nicole?
Nicole: Do you have any tissues? My sinuses are acting up.
Mr. Tenny: Yes, I do. *He gets out a box of tissues and opens it. * Here you go, Nicole.
Nicole: Thank you. *She takes a tissue and blows her nose as she goes to her seat. Then, Adrien and Nino took their seat, and Marinette and Alya walked in too. *
Alya: Let's hope this class will pass.
Marinette: I thought you liked math.
Alya: I do. But boring math is not my thing.
Marinette: You might be surprised by what Mr. Tenny has planned.
Alya: If you say so. *Then, Lila walked in, Ivan, Mylene, Alix, and Max walked into the classroom and found their seats. *
Mr. Tenny: Okay, let me see what we already recapped yesterday. *He goes through his third-period folder and sees the last lesson was planned. * Hmm, okay. *Then, Lila walked inside the classroom and took her seat when the final bell rang. * Good morning, everyone. *Everyone said good morning to Mr. Tenny. * Before we get started, let me do a role call first. *He holds his clipboard and pen. * Adrien Ageste?
Adrien: Here.

Mr. Tenny: Vincent Lopez?
Vincent: Here.
Mr. Tenny: Esra McAllies?
Esra: Here.
Mr. Tenny: Lila Rossi?
Lila: Present.
Mr. Tenny: Serena Garcia?
Serena: Here, Mr. Tenny.
Mr. Tenny: And Chris Zaynson?
Chris: Here.
Mr. Tenny: Alright, a full class. Now that we're all here, let's get to today's lesson. We already recapped Equations and inequalities, so why don't we do a few for practice before we start on something else?
Lila: (Hmm... okay.) *Mr. Tenny writes down a few problems on the board for everyone to do. *
Mr. Tenny: Let's see how well you all know how to solve these. Who would like to go first? *A few students raise their hands. * Okay, Nicole. Why don't you start?
Nicole: Okay. *She stands up, goes to the board, and solves the first problem: 6p-2=52. Then, she goes to the right and lets everyone see how she solved it. *
Mr. Tenny: Okay. Tell us how you got the answer.
Nicole: Okay. I added 52 and 2, which gets me 54, then I divided 6 to both sides and it gets me p=9.
Mr. Tenny: Correct, Nicole. *Nicole goes back to her seat. * Okay, so we got p=9, do you all agree? *They answered yes. * Okay. Who can solve the second problem? *Marinette raised her hand. * Okay. Marinette go ahead. *Marinette went up to the board, looked at the problem, and started solving it and she got y=2. * Okay y=2. Tell us how you got your answer.
Marinette: I subtracted 9 from both the 9 and 21 and it gave me 12, then I divided 6 to both sides and it gave me y=2.
Mr. Tenny: Very good, Marinette. *She sits back down in her seat. * Who would like to solve the next problem? *Nino raised his hand. * Alright, Nino. You give it a try. *He stands up and walks up to the board then solves the third problem. This went on until the last problem. * Okay, time for one more problem. Who would like to do the last one? *Serena and Will raise their hands. * Hmm... Serena, why don't you try?
Serena: Okay.
Will: Aw, man. *Serena walked up to the board, grabbed a chalk, and solved the problem. She stepped aside and revealed the answer y=12. *
Mr. Tenny: Good. Now tell us how you got y=12.
Serena: Okay. I subtracted 3 to both sides and it gave me 96, divided 8 to both sides and it gave me y=12.
Mr. Tenny: Correct, Serena. Thank you.
Serena: Thank you, Mr. Tenny. *She sits back down in her seat. *
Mr. Tenny: Okay. Think we all get this now? *They answered yes to Mr. Tenny. * Good. Think we all get it from now. Now I know you all say math is very hard and complicated, and I agree with you. I was like you guys when math was tricky, and I couldn't get a better understanding until I had some help understanding the concept of it all. And after trying and trying, I finally understand it all. Now if you all think learning math is hard, try doing math in college, that's the hardest there is like calculus, college algebra, trigonometry, and statistics.
Vincent: Out of curiosity, will we learn those types of math here?
Mr. Tenny: Oh, no, Vincent. You're still learning the basis and it'll take time to learn more. One step at a time as I always say. But there's still time to learn about that, let's get to the new topic: Inequalities and Absolute Value. *He writes down Inequalities and Absolute Value. * Let me tell you the difference between Inequality and Absolute Value. Inequality - a mathematical statement that compares algebraic quantities. Absolute Value is the magnitude of a real number without regard to its sign. Remember what they mean. You'll be doing a lot more of this for the day. I'll guide you all on how to do this topic. I'll show you an example. *He gets his chalk writes out one problem and shows it to everyone. * So, we got |5-2x|-11=0 and |5-2x|=-11. Here's what you do first. 1. Isolate the absolute value. Who knows what that means?
Max: Separate the two problems.
Mr. Tenny: Yes, Max. Separate two problems. The next step is to split the equation up into two separate equations, whichever e already covered, and who knows what to do next? *Arwen raised her hand. * Yes, Arwen?
Arwen: Solve each of the equations.
Mr. Tenny: Correct. I subtract 5 from both the 5 and 11, and it gives me -2=6, divide -2 to both sides and I get x=-3. That's one problem, not the next problem. *He solved the second problem and showed it to everybody. * And for the next problem, we get x=8. Do we all get that? *Some answered yes, some did not answer. * Okay, we're still not sure about this one. Which is why I have an assignment planned for you all. Take out your textbooks turn to page 195, and do problems 1-20 by the end of class. If you're confused or need help, come to me and I'll help you. You can always do partner work if you want. If you're not done by the end of class, this will be your homework tonight if you're not done. You may start. *He sits down as everyone starts doing their work. * Also, I have an assignment for you on solving like-terms, you consider this also a homework assignment. *He handed them out to everyone, some moaned about it. *
Alya: This is gonna be boring. *They all start working on their assignment. *
In Mrs. Denvers' Advanced Art class, Mrs. Denvers looked around and saw the kids paint their pictures of a bowl of waxed fruits.
Mrs. Denvers: Nice job, Kelly. Very good, Nick. *Zoe painted the banana yellow and switched to painting the grapes purple, Mrs. Denvers looked at Zoe's painting. * Very colorful, Zoe.
Zoe: Thank you, Mrs. Denvers. *Lila looked over at Zoe. *
Mrs. Denvers: You all paint some good-looking fruit bowls. You know painting doesn't just mean that it's just a form of visual art that captures the expression of ideas and emotions on a two-dimensional surface. Or the elements of shape, colors, line, tones, and textures in unique ways to produce paintings that convey sensations of movement, volume, space, and light – traditionally on a flat surface, painting also boosts self-esteem and inspires people to reach new levels of skill. All of you have that potential. Sometimes you paint how you feel whether from the inside or outside. Even if you feel like being an artist in the future.
Lila: (Hmm... let's see what you're made of Zoe.)
Mrs. Denvers: Put your brushes down for a second, I want to say a few things about our topic: waxed fruit painting.
Janelle: This should be interesting. *They did what they were told and looked ahead at Mrs. Denvers. *
Mrs. Denvers: You see, in colonial times, fruit, nuts, and vegetables were used as natural displays, both for aesthetics and consumption. It was in Victorian times that arrangements of wax fruit became a popular home decoration. Fruit formed from wood, glass, and alabaster also came into being. It is said that in 1886, the artist Paul Cezanne, used wax fruit to paint, rather than the real fruit because he wanted to avoid rotten fruit during a still-life session.
Marc: Makes sense since fruit do rot when you paint it.
Mirelle: Mrs. Denvers, why do people paint waxed fruits? Was it the first thing they painted or was it something else?
Mrs. Denvers: Good question, Mirelle. Unfortunately, waxed fruit wasn't the first painting, this was at least 45,500 years ago, a human hand had painted the pigs in ochre, making them the oldest known examples of figurative art by at least several thousand years—and, by some standards, the oldest artwork in the world. Each painting is by a specific decade whether from 100 or thousands of years ago before today when we discovered a painting from a specific artist that we know or heard of.
Nick: Wow. I don't even study art.
Zoe: It's good to know this kind of stuff. *In Mr. Tenny's class, everyone's been working on their assignment until they're close to the end of class. Some turned them in while a few were still working on them until the bell rang. *
Mr. Tenny: Huh, class is over already? Okay, if you're done with your work, please turn it in. If not, then you have homework.
Alya: Good thing I got it done.
Marinette: Me too. *Elise, Nicole, Max, Ivan, and Will turned in their work while some didn't get it done and they left the classroom for lunch. *
Lila: Ugh. I got homework, here I thought I was almost done, but now I have one more problem to do.
Amelia: That's on you. *She grabbed her textbook and notebook and left the classroom. Lila leaves too. *
In the Agreste Mansion, Gabriel looked over the portrait of Emilie, he sighed at the number of attempts he made to get Ladybug and Cat Noir's miraculous, but failed in the end.
Gabriel: I swear on my life, Emilie, those miraculous will be mine for the taking and fulfill the wish in taking you back. I promise you. *He then goes to the portrait, he then heads down to the lair, where the window is closed. * Time to make this attempt work. Nooroo, Duusu, dual metamorphosis! *He transforms into Shadow Moth. *
Shadow Moth: Now, wait for someone to feel mad or sad. *In the cafeteria, kids are in line waiting to get their lunches, while some kids have their lunches and start eating with their friends. *
Alya: Buying lunch this time?
Marinette: Nope. *She leads to the table puts her stuff down, gets out the small container, and heats her bacon mac and cheese in the microwave. *
James: Finally, lunchtime. What's today's lunch special? *Evan looked at the cafeteria menu and saw what was on the menu. *

Evan: Sloppy joes, tacos, and chicken nuggets.
Stanley: I'll get the chicken nuggets.
James: Tacos for me.
Evan: And I'll have the sloppy joe. *They walk in line, grab a tray, and get what food they're gonna get. Soon, Marinette comes back to her seat with her heated-up food and she takes a bite when Alix, Juleka, and Rose take a seat. *
Alix: At least the cafeteria has something good. *She dipped her chicken nugget in ketchup and took a bite. *
Rose: Why'd you say that? *She drinks some milk as Juleka picks up a taco and takes a bite. *
Alix: No reason. Just nice that it has a little change for once. *She eats the rest of her chicken nugget and tries another one. In line, Sabrina handed Lunch Lady McGrady her money. *
Lunch lady McGrady: Thank you, Sabrina. Enjoy your lunch.
Sabrina: I will. *She takes her tray and leaves the line. Then, Alya came up with her food. *
Zoe: I thought about something fun to do.
Mylene: What is it? *She takes a sloppy joe, Jessica opens a bottled water and takes a sip, and Marinette eats more of her bacon mac and cheese. *
Zoe: Not sure. I'll ask you guys when I have the chance.
Alya: Okay, let us know when. *She drinks her apple juice. When Evan, Stanley, and James got their lunch and they sat down and ate, they started talking when Alyssa walked by their table, along with Janelle and Kelly. *
Alyssa: Watch this, guys. *She stands up and walks up to Evan. * Hey, Evan.
Evan: Yeah, Alyssa? *He takes a bite of his sloppy joe. *
Alyssa: I just wanted to say that I scored pretty well on the last math test earlier.
Evan: Uh, good for you.
Alyssa: And what was your score? Above or below average?
Evan: I guess above.
Alyssa: You guessed or you're not sure?
Stanley: Hey, what's your deal?
Alyssa: Zip it, Stanley. *Stanley scowled at her. * Anyway, it sucks you're not that good at math, while I'm the best at it. That sucks for you. And imagine not many schools wouldn't even accept you for low achievement in math. I'll feel bad for you.
Evan: Hey!
Alyssa: Sorry. the truth hurts, doesn't it? Oh well, too bad, so sad. Enjoy your lunch. *She heads back to her friends. *
James: Hey, don't listen to her. She has no idea what she is talking about.
Evan: It doesn't matter. She may be smart, but does she have to say it in front of me? *He puts his head down in shame. * I just wish I could master math much better, and she'll know how it feels to be degraded and made fun of.
In Shadow Moth's Lair, the window opens, and Butterflies start to flutter all over the place.
Shadow Moth: Aww, the anger of a boy
