The rain slowly ran down my window, barely making a sound as it gently touched the glass. I stared at the tree outside my window, the leaves glowing in the night sky and the delicate petals of the flowers blooming in the moonlight. It was a peaceful night, the sky clear with the stars on full display. I sighed as I opened my window, taking in the cool summer air.
I quietly climbed down from my window to the outside. I stood a few meters away from the giant oak in my backyard and took in my surroundings as the wind blew my hair around gently. I took a few steps toward the tree and slid my hand across the bark. It was rough yet soothing. I moved my hand further up the trunk and onto the closest branch. From there, I gripped onto it and pulled myself up, my skin abrading against the bark. My eyes slowly moved to the acorns growing on the thin parts of the branches. I looked for perfectly ripe ones to pick for a collection. Once I found the perfect ones, I slid them into the pockets of my pajamas.
After a while, I became drowsy and headed back to my window. As I climbed inside, I looked back at the droplet-covered tree and smiled. For once, everything in my life seemed peaceful.
