It's been a few weeks of me rushing to Tom's dorm every day after school, and helping him learn more about Horcruxs.
A few weeks of anger, frustration, and anxiety. But there were those days where we had fun and laughed all night long.
Over these past few weeks i've learned to move past my hate for him. He hasn't touched me or hurt me at all, hasn't raised his voice at me.
Instead he's been oddly patient, and kind to me. It's almost like we were slowly starting to be friends.
I couldn't wait for class to end every day so I could run up to his dorm and be with him. I cant believe i'm saying this but I sort of enjoy his company.
In class
I've been sitting on this dreadful seat for hours, patiently tapping my pencil on the desk waiting for the clock to say "3:00" and we'd be done.
But of course, time goes by slowly when you look at it too long.
I tried getting Horcruxs and Tom off my mind but I couldn't. It was constantly in my head.
Suddenly, my thoughts got interrupted by someone throwing a pencil at my back.
I quickly turned around to see that it was Fred and George, the twins who broke my brother's fight apart a few weeks ago.
"What you dumbwitts?" I hissed. I wasn't in the mood for any foolishness right now.
"Relax." Fred chuckled.
"I bet it didn't even hurt." George added right after.
I rolled my eyes and turned back around, until another pencil was thrown right at my head.
I turned back around and glared at Fred and George. "Really?" I scoffed.
"Hey it wasn't us this time." they both blurted at the same time.
I turned to my right to see Draco chucking with another one of his friends, and I recognized him from how much he's been hanging out with Draco. Plus i've seen him around the common room all the time.
Blaise Zabini.
"Was it you?" I scowled.
He quickly turned towards Draco and scoffed.
"Dude why is your sister such a b-"
"Excuse me?" I fumed across the class.
"ENOUGH!!!" Snape thundered as he stood in front of the class, eyeing me and Blaise.
"Shut it, both of you. Before you get an immediate detention. Stop distracting my class." he hissed.
Snape quickly turned back around, and started writing on the chalk board.
"Today you will be partnering up." Snape announced as he turned back around to face us.
The kids broke out in chatter, figuring out who they'd want to be partners with.
"SILENCE!!" Snape roared, his eyes glued to the class.
He straightened his back and slowly trekked his way over to Blaise.
"You will be working with Avalon, Mr. Zabini. You'll learn to not yell at each other that way."
"Aw come on.. not Avalon." Blaise grunted as he dropped his head into the palm of his hand.
Great. Partnering up with Blaise. Out of all people, Blaise.
It was like Snape was partnering us up on purpose, to try and get us to hate each other even more.
After Snape finished off assigning partners, he went on.
Finally, he dismissed class and we all stood up and hurried out the door.
As I trudged my feet down the hall, holding my books in my hand, I felt a hand touch my shoulder behind me.
It was Tom.
"What are you doing?" I questioned, glancing around us.
"Shh." he whispered as he brought his finger up to his lips.
"Come with me."
"What? Tom I have to get to my next class-"
"Avalon, is he bothering you?" Blaise questioned with a concerned look on his face as he stood in front of us.
I hesitated before answering.
"No of course not." I shot a fake smile towards him.
"Leave her alone, weirdo." Blaise grunted, eyeing Tom.
Tom's jaw clenched and he squinted his eyes at Blaise.
"And who are you?"
"Doesn't matter. Leave her alone-"
"Who's this?" Tom questioned as he looked back and fourth between Blaise and I.
"This is Blaise. He's gonna be my partner for Potions class. Which you missed by the way." I sneered.
"Come up to the dorm immediately after class. You don't want to be late." he demanded, and hurried off.
"What was that about?" Blaise asked in a serious tone.
"You're in my business. Don't do that." I scoffed at him.
"After class, you want to study together at the Slytherin common room? I figured since we're gonna be partners I might as well try to be nice to you." he grinned.
I grinned back and looked down at the floor.
"Okay."
We hurried off into our next classes until finally, after many long dreadful hours, school was done.
I grabbed my books and bolted off towards the Slytherin common room to meet with Blaise.
I roamed my eyes across the room, and saw Blaise sitting on the couch nervously tapping his leg, looking around the room for me.
"Blaise!" I called out, while I hurried over to him and placed my books out on the table in front of him.
"Oh good, you're here." he beamed. "Let's get to studying then?"
I nodded and we sat together, reading all of the books I brought and taking thousands of notes. I never knew Blaise was so smart. And we had a lot in common.
He likes to write, I like to write.
He loves music and singing, so do I.
He likes to make fun of Draco, I like to make fun of Draco.
This was a perfect start to getting to know someone. And never in a million years would I ever think i'd be sitting next to Blaise Zabini and actually have a good time.
That's until I heard loud footsteps stomp into the Slytherin common room.
I shot my head over to the entrance to see Tom, standing there furious.
Once he saw me, his lips formed into a tight line, and his face tensed up.
He balled his fists up and raised his eyebrows at me.
"Figured you'd be in here."
My lip trembled and my first instinct was to grab Blaise's hand.
"Blaise you cant let me go with him." I trembled into his ear.
Blaise shot his body up and glared into Tom's eyes, still holding my hand tight.
"I'm not letting you go anywhere near Avalon." Blaise hissed.
"That's funny. Move out of my way or i'll make you." Tom snarled at Blaise.
He stomped over to Blaise and grabbed the front of his robe with full force.
"Move. Out. Of. My. Way." he demanded.
He let go of Blaise's robe and shot his eyes towards me.
"Let's go." he hissed as he grabbed my arm.
We thumped out of the Slytherin common room and walked towards the dorms.
He grabbed my wrists, just like he did before, but this time it was harder.
"You're late." he bellowed.
"Tom let go of me. I won't be late again." I whimpered as I tried squirming out his grip.
He dragged me down to the dorms and opened his, pushing me down to the ground.
He locked the door and towered over me.
"Two hours late. You were two hours late." he fumed.
"Why are you so angry? Please try to calm down first." I yelped, my hand trembling with fear.
"I'm angry because you're not taking this seriously. It's been two weeks and we haven't made any progress with the Horcruxs." he growled as he kicked at his bed frame.
I gulped, with tears strolling down my face as I tried calming him down.
"Maybe we're just doing something wrong. We'll figure it out together." I tried smiling at him.
He took a deep breath in and out, and looked down to me, as I was still sitting on the floor.
"No. Not together. You're done helping me. You're useless." he growled.
I sighed in relief, knowing I was free of him. I didn't have to help him anymore, this was a good thing.
"So I can go then." I gulped.
"Yes." he blurted.
Before I could stand up, the door flew open and what I saw in front of me was beyond belief.
Snape, Dumbledore, and Ms. Mcgonagall rushing into the dorm.
I shot up from the ground and gazed at all three of them.
"What are you guys doing here?" I gulped.
"Severus, restrain him. Minerva, check his drawers, and shelves for the book." Dumbledore ordered.
Everything was happening so fast, none of this even felt real. My head was spinning and my body started to heat up.
Snape raced over to where Tom was standing, and yanked his arms behind him.
"Let go of me!" Tom roared as he tried squirming out of Snape's grip.
"What's happening?" I shrieked in panic.
"Are you alright dear? Did he hurt you?" Dumbledore questioned as he walked closer to me.
"No he didn't! What are you doing to him?!" I yelped as I tried holding back my tears.
"Found the book. He was the one who stole it all along." Ms. Mcgonagall sighed, as she brung the Horcrux book over to Dumbledore.
"Good. Get him out of here." Dumbledore ordered, glaring at Tom.
Tom winced in pain at how hard Snape was gripping onto his arms, as he led him out the door.
At this point, hot tears were rushing down my cheeks as I stood there trembling in shock.
What just happened.
"You have to let him go Professor. He didn't do anything wrong-" I begged Dumbledore but it was no use.
"Someone anonymous let me know about him harassing you, and how he dragged you up here so we came rushing in." Dumbledore asserted me.
"No." I blurted, wiping my tears away. "He didn't harass me. You need to let him go." I wailed. "Who told you that?"
Dumbledore sighed, and his face tensed up. "I can't tell you. We never share that information out-"
But before Dumbledore finished his sentence, I bolted out of the door and ran back down to the Slytherin common room.
I knew who told him.
I stomped into the Slytherin common room, as everyone gathered up around Blaise as he told everyone the story of how Tom came in here and grabbed me.
"And then he just pushed me out of the way and I couldn't do anything about it.." Blaise's voice trailed off as he told the Slytherins.
"Move out of my way." I hissed at everyone as I pushed them out of my way.
Everyone gasped, and gazed at me as I stomped over to Blaise.
My lip trembled and my face was covered in tears.
"You told Dumbledore. Why? It was none of your business." I trembled.
Everyone stood there, speechless, glaring at Blaise and I.
Blaise opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but stopped himself.
"I can't believe you." I snapped.
"He was harassing you, Avalon. Don't you see that? Are you blind or do you need me to open your eyes for you?" Blaise exclaimed as he slightly pushed me.
"Don't." I pushed him back.
"Besides, it wasn't just me who told Dumbledore. It was your brother too. He told Dumbledore about the Horcrux book." Blaise grunted.
My heart sank to my feet, and I couldn't believe what he just said.
"Where. Is. He." I snarled at Blaise.
He looked over to his right, and pointed to where Draco was standing. He was watching this whole fight.
I walked over to Draco slowly, while pools formed in my eyes.
My blood started to boil, and my hand began to tremble.
"You promised me Draco. You promised you wouldn't tell anyone. And there you go, breaking my promise again like it means nothing to you." I fumed with anger.
He stood there with his mouth shut closed, just glaring into my eyes with nothing to say.
"He was hurting you, and manipulating you. Don't you see that? Why are you so mad and sad over this?" Draco wondered.
"You don't understand, he's not as bad as you all say he is." I snapped as I pointed to everyone looking at situation.
"Yes he might be rude sometimes but i've learned to see the real him over these last few weeks. He's been a good friend to me." I sniffled.
"You begged me to protect you from him, Avalon. How is he a good friend?" Blaise grunted.
I took a deep breath in through my nose, and out through my mouth.
I've had enough of this dreadful day. All I wanted to do was snuggle in my bed and never come out.
So I looked at everyone one last time, and stepped out the door.
