Maddie's POV (where are my BeaDdie people at?)

"Bea will be fine, Twinny. Stop crying na." Trey says softly as she gently rubs my back. Naka-yakap ako sakanya habang patuloy na umiiyak, feeling guilty and worried at the same time.

"Bea's injured.." I hiccup. "And it's all because of me."

Sige lang ako sa pag-iyak, not minding the stares I've been receiving since kanina pa. "It was an accident, Mads. No one wanted that to happen."

"I hurt her again, Trey." I cry, my vision continue to get blurry with tears. "I don't know what I'd do kung may mangyaring masama sakanya."

"Twinny, it's Bea we're talking sbout here. She's strong." Trey assures me.

"Bakit ang tagal nila sa loob, Trey? Don't tell me merong problema." Usisa ko.

We're here at the hospital's waiting room with some of our teammates. Limited lang kasi ang pwedeng sumama sa loob and it's not like Bea wanted me to join her. It's just Jia and ate Ly inside with her tapos the rest, nag-aantay na lang din ng paglabas nila para maki-balita.

"Tita!" Jhoana yells as she spots tita Det rushing towards us. I wanted to sprint towards her and hug her. Heaven knows how much I missed Bea's family, I love them just as much as I love my own. They accepted me and loved me like their other precious princess.

"How is she? How's my Bea's condition?" Her voice was quivering when she asks Jhoana. Halatang sobrang nag-aalala. No wonder since Bea's the sole princess of their family, sobrang daddy's girl pa nga 'yun eh. "Where is she?"

Jho looked uncomfortable, unsure of what to say. Pare-pareho lang naman kasi kaming walang balita eh. Bago pa makasagot si Jho, I saw ate Den gently places her hands on top of tita's arm to get her attention. "Hello po, tita. I'm Dennise Lazaro, Bea's senior. Our captain is there inside with Bea, Jia is also there po. Don't worry po, Tita. She'll be okay."

Tita Det breathes a sigh of relief and smiles a little. "You must be Bea's ate Denden that she talks warmly about. I really wish that we've met in favorable circumstances pero it's still nice to meet you, Dennise."

"Nice to meet you rin po, Tita." Ate Den smiles. "Buti po nakarating agad kayo."

"Jia called me kanina telling me that they were on their way here because Bea got injured during training." Tita Det explains. "Susunod na dito yung kuya ni Beatriz. Pinauna lang talaga ako at ipa-park lang ang kotse n'ya. Anyway, my husband is on his way here already galing office."

"Maupo muna po tayo habang naghihintay, Tita." Ate Den says as she ushers Tita towards the empty chairs near ate Ella and ate Amy.

"Trey, bibili lang ako ng maiinom." Paalam ko.

I'm not thirsty at all and I'd rather just wait for any news kay Bea sa isang tabi pero hindi ko kasi alam kung ano pang mukha ang maihaharap ko sa pamilya n'ya. Lalong-lalo na kay tita Det.

Wala sa sarili akong bumili ng inumin. Gustuhin ko mang bumalik pero pinipigilan ko ang sarili ko.

"Mads?"

Napalingon ako sa nag-salita and saw Bea's brother, Kuya Loel. "Kuya.."

Kuya Loel smiles. "Can I sit beside you?"

"Of course, Kuya." Agad kong sabi. I watch him sit beside me. "Nandoon po sila sa--"

"I know where they are, Mads." He says simply as he sips his canned coffee na bili n'ya rin galing vendo sa harapan namin. "Mom made me look after you. You looked like you were about to collapse."

"I.. I'm fine po, Kuya." I say softly, my vision getting blurry with tears again. "I'm sorry po.."

"For what?" He asks.

"I don't deserve this.." I say quietly as I wipe my tears away with the back of my hand. "I've done nothing but to hurt Beatriz pero eto kayo, still checking up on me.."

"I don't know what happened between you and my sister, miski nga slight idea wala ako. Ang pinanghahawakan ko lang is I know my sister more than anyone and one thing that I am sure of is that Isabel doesn't give up easily."

I smile a little as it dawns on me what he is implying. "You're such a bully, Kuya."

He laughs. "I just gave you a hint, didn't I?"

"I don't know if that was a hint or you're just playing with me. Aasa ako, Kuya!"

"Bibitaw s'ya, bibitaw ka. Paano maaayos? Wala talagang pag-asa kung ganoon ang mangyayari di ba?"

"Wala naman po akong plano bumitaw eh. It's all my fault kaya ako talaga ang aayos.. Hindi ko lang talaga po alam kung paano."

"Don't look at me like that, Madeleine. I just gave you a hint already. Isabel wouldn't like it if I'll meddle some more." He chuckles as he rubs his chin. "But honestly, it's nice to think that wala pa sa bokabularyo mo ang mag-give up sa kapatid ko."

"Kahit kailan naman po, hindi 'yun sumagi sa isip ko. I really love Beatriz." Napayuko ako. "Kaso she hates me pa. She can't even listen to my explanations. Wala akong choice but to wait for her."

"Hm, let's go back already." Kuya Loel hums. "Isabel is naturally charming kaya I get it why people want to be around her all the time. If you get what I mean."

Natigilan naman ako.

"No need to think hard for it, Mads. It is what it is." He laughs.

"No. I get it." I say with conviction. "Tara na, Kuya."

"Madeleine, anak." Tita Det smiles as she reaches for a hug. "How are you?"

For the nth time today, natigilan na naman ako. "Tita.."

"Nakakatampo ka na ha. Bakit hindi ka na dumadalaw sa bahay?" She asks me as soon as she lets go. Napatingin ako sa mga teammates ko na nakatingin samin lahat.

Huh? Hindi ba nasabi ni Bea na break na kami? "Ano po Tita.. Busy lang po."

She sighs. "Hm, nag-away ba kayo ni Beatriz?"

I smile a little. "Yes po, Tita.."

"I'm sure it's nothing you both can't fix." She smiles warmly at me.

"It'll take some time po, Tita. I did something really stupid po and I.. I hurt your daughter in the process." I say slowly. "No matter how apologetic I am, hindi basta basta mawawala yung galit ng anak n'yo.. I'm sorry, Tita."

She nods. "She'll come around, anak. She doesn't give up easily."

"Neither do I po, Tita. I won't give her up." I smile.

"Good girl." She smiles. "Anyway, do you know what happened to her?"

My smile vanishes. "Actually po, ako rin po yung may kasalanan kung bakit na-injure si Beatriz. Ako po yung nag-spike sa bola and tumama po sa fingers n'ya kaya po nabali.. I'm really sorry, Tita!"

Tita Det thoughts for a minute as she looks at me. A small smile making its way on her lips. "It's an accident, Madeleine. Hindi talaga 'yun maiiwasan sa mga training, lalo na sa inyo na puspusan ang ginagawang pageensayo araw-araw. Stop crying na. Beatriz won't like it kapag nakita ka n'yang umiiyak because of her, galit man s'ya o hindi."

I closed my eyes for a second thinking how wonderful Bea's family is when I feel soft hands wiping my tears away. I opened my eyes and see tita Det smiling gently at me. "Thank you so much po, Tita."

Tita Det engulfs me into a warm hug. "Just visit us anytime you want to. I'm sure George misses you too."

"I miss him too." I chuckle dryly.

"Make up with Isabel already. Based on what I can see, parehas naman kayong devastated because of what happened." Kuya Loel chimes in, offering his handkerchief.

"Sana ganun lang po kadali, Kuya." I say as I mutter a small thanks for his kind gesture.

"Beh!" Jho yells.

Napatingin agad ako sa tinititigan n'ya and saw Beatriz together with Jia and ate Ly. Her fingers are heavily taped but she's sporting a goofy grin and a playful attitude as she laughs.

"Hey," she says, holding a peace sign with her uninjured hand. "Oh, Mom and Kuya."

"I called them earlier 'di ba?" Jia says. "Busy ka lang ngumawa nun kaya di mo siguro napansin."

My heart clenches as Bea puts her arm around Jia's shoulder. "Sino kaya 'yung ngumawa sa loob?"

Jia glares at her. "Sorry na, Love. Bati na tayo."

Love.

I can't help but get jealous and upset at the sight of Bea openly flirting with Jia. I feel a light tap on the small of my back just as tita Det clears her throat to speak. "Hello, I'm Bea's Mom. You must be Alyssa Valdez? I'm sorry but can you give me an update about Bea's injury?"

Ate Ly nods as she gestures towards the vacant seats next to ate Den. "Nice to meet you po, tita! Let's take a seat muna po then let's talk."

Tita Det gives me a warm smile, tilting her head a little as she subtly gestures towards Bea's direction before excusing herself.

Huminga ako ng malalim before walking towards Beatriz. "Bei.."

She turns to face me and I swear I felt my heart clenches again as her goofy grin fades as soon as she sees me in front of her. "Yes, Maddie?"

"I.. I just want to apologize." I say softly, looking at her directly. I'm not minding the awkward stares I'm getting from our friends and teammates.

"Well, that's a first." She mutters, still poker faced.

"Bea." Marahang saway ni Jia.

"Alright." Bea exhales as she closes her eyes. "Let's go, Maddie."

My heart jumps. "Huh?"

"Didn't you want to talk?" She says, looking at me. "Let's go somewhere private."

"Oh, okay." I say nervously. It's going to be the first in a long time that I'll be alone with Beatriz and I'm sure as hell that it probably won't turn pretty dahil baka ready na s'ya makinig.

"Wait here, magpapaalam lang ako kina kuya." She instructs me and I nod.

Naiwan akong nakatayo kaharap ang mga kaibigan n'ya. Mich is glaring a little at me. Jho is frowning pero nakatingin s'ya kay Bea na kinakausap na ang kuya n'ya. And Jia is looking directly at me with a neutral expression.

"Mads." Jia calls.

"Yes, Jia?"

"She deserves to know." She says simply, her eyes carrying so much emotions. She looks like she genuinely cares for Beatriz. At the back of my mind, I know that I caught a small glimpse of why Beatriz would cling onto Jia and it's because of something that I failed to do. "No more lying and hiding."

I nod as I bite my lower lip. "I know."

"Do you have your car with you?" Beatriz asks as she soon as she came back.

"Yes." I answer simply.

"Alright, perfect." She mutters, fishing her car keys from her jeans pocket. "Love, kayo na gumamit ng kotse ko. Kunin ko na lang siguro mamaya or bukas."

"Hindi ba hassle?" Jia asks.

"Nope." Bea says as she gives the key to Jia tapos she leans in and kisses Jia's forehead. "I'll just text you later."

"Alright. I'll just text you too when we get back sa dorms safely." Jia smiles.

"Good girl." Bea grins as she ruffles the top of Jia's head.

"Mich, Beh. Una na ako." She says tapos bumeso pa sa dalawa n'yang kaibigan. "Let's go, Maddie."

We're about to go when tita Det called us.

"Yes, Mom?"

"Po, tita?" Sabay pa naming sagot.

"Maddie, ikaw na bahala kay Beatriz ha? Take care of her." She smiles cheekily kaya gusto ko na lang matawa kahit na naramdaman ko pa ang pag-init ng mga pisngi ko.

Oh gosh, Tita!

"I mean it ha." Tita says. "I'm expecting you to take care of her. Understood?"

"Mom, stop it. She doesn't have to." Bea frowns.

"Noted po, Tita." I say, making Bea turn to look at me. "It's my fault naman kung bakit ka naaksidente."

"Do whatever you want." Bea clicks her tongue then briskly walks away.

"Have fun, kids." Tita Det grins as she calls. She's sporting the same playful attitude Bea had.

Ay nako, Tita. Bakit po ba ang pikon ng anak n'yo?

Bea was frowning as soon as I got to the parking lot. She got her eyes closed habang nakatayo sa tabi ng kotse ko.

I take this moment as an opportunity to study her face. Sobrang ganda lang talaga n'ya and I'm doing my best to memorize every bit of her face.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." She says as she opens her eyes and looks directly at me.

"Wait, I'll just get my phone." I joke tapos nagmukhang kukunin nga yung phone sa bag na dala ko.

"Madeleine."

"Alright, I'll stop." I say and opened the car door for her. Kung dati ako ang prinsesa mo, I'll make sure that I'll treat you how you treated me dati.

She gets in quietly and I made sure that she's settled in before closing the door. Dali-dali akong tumakbo sa driver's side at humingang malalim bago buksan ang pinto na para bang nire-ready ang puso't-isipan ko.

You'll always have this effect on me, baby.

"Where to?" I ask, buckling my seatbelt. Napatingin ako sakanya who was just struggling putting her seatbelt on. "Let me."

I lean in and buckled her seatbelt for her. The courage I had earlier melted when I realized how close I am to her. My face just inches away from hers. Amoy na amoy ko pa yung pabango n'yang gustong-gusto ko.

"Bakit ka ba laging natitigilan?" I got surprised nang bigla s'yang magsalita. Her voice wasn't annoyed or what pero hindi rin s'ya amused.

Ang weird mo kasi talaga, Maddie!

"Sorry," I mutter, my face feeling hot. "Anyway, san ba tayo pupunta?"

"How about that cafe in Katipunan? Tahimik naman doon and I remember how much you love their coffee." She says sleepily, rubbing her eyes with her good hand. "Para na rin hindi hassle sayo umuwi sa dorm."

"I'm fine. Ihahatid pa kita sa bahay n'yo, Bei." I say. My heart racing because she still remembers the little things about me. "Besides, I promised Tita."

"It's not like you have to kasi. I can talk care of myself." She shoots.

"Ihahatid kita sa bahay n'yo or sa dorm ka matutulog?" I ask. I made it a point na done deal na yung tanong ko. Those are only her two options.

She sighs. "Fine, I'll just stay the night with Jia."

My heart sinks. "Alright. Anyway, malayo pa naman tayo. Matulog ka muna."

"I'm fine." She says.

"Halos hindi na makita yang mata mo. May nakikita ka pa ba?"

"Says the person who doesn't have chinky eyes." She smiles a little and little did she know, I felt my heart soar.

Our day started usual, morning training tapos classes then training again. Akala namin tapos na ang training pero Coach Tai instructed us to play a practice game pa. I thought maba-block ako ni Bea since nahuli n'ya yung play namin ni Gizelle. She got her timing right pero dahil na rin siguro sa pagod kaya hindi na maayos yung pag-block ni Beatriz. I saw how the ball curved towards her fingers and the next thing I knew, Bea's on the floor clutching her bleeding fingers.

Agad na nilapatan ng first aid si Beatriz habang tumawag si Coach Parsley ng ambulansya.

Jia and ate Aly rode the ambulance with her together with some of the coaching staffs tapos napasunod na lang kami. Michelle drove Bea's car kasama sina Jho. Trey drove my car papunta kasi nanginginig talaga yung kamay ko sa sobrang pag-aalala.

"Shit!" Malakas na usal ko kaya napatingin sakin si Bea.

"What is it?"

"Nakalimutan ko si Trey!" I say, fishing my phone from my bag without breaking my focus on the road. "Sa'kin s'ya sumabay since s'ya yung nag-drive kanina!"

"Woah, chill." She sighs, grabbing my bag from my reach. "Ako na. Just focus driving."

"Alright."

"Oh, sakto." She mutters as she sees my phone ringing. The caller ID belongs to Twinny.

Bea swipes to accept the call. "Hello, Twinny? Where the fuck are you?!" Bungad ni Trey as Bea put it in loud speaker mode.

"I'm driving--"

"What the fuck, Madeleine Yrenea! Ang sabi mo lang kanina bibili ka lang ng inumin."

"Teka, chill ka--"

"Don't you dare ask me to chill first! Nakita mo ba yung sarili mo kanina? You were shaking so hard, you looked like you were about to collapse! Ano, pagkatapos mo umiyak, bigla bigla ka na lang mawawala! Sinong hindi mag-aalala?"

"Twinny, listen--!"

"Don't tell me nasa bar ka na naman at naglalasing? Sasampalin talaga kita! Or better yet, isusumbong kita kay Bea!"

"Trey." Bea says. "It's Bea, I'm with Maddie."

"..."

"Tangina mo, Twinny." I chuckle awkwardly.

Bea clears her throat. "Where are you, Trey? Are you still at the hospital?"

"No, I --" She was cut off when we hear shuffling from her end.

"Just tell them you're with me. They're bound to know anyway.." Sabi ng kasama n'ya.

"Who are you with?" Bea asks.

"Don't worry about me, I'm with Rex. Anyway, since Maddie's with you, kampante na ako. Keep safe kayo!" She says then quickly hangs up.

Therese Marie Marguerette!

"Well, that was awkward." Wala sa sarili kong sambit.

"What happened to us?" She asks softly na nagtaka pa ako kung nagsalita ba talaga s'ya. I glanced at her for a second pero nakatingin naman s'ya sa labas ng bintana.

"Wala kang kasalanan." I found myself saying, my voice was trembling pero kailangan kong labanan to get my points across. "I.. I was the one who messed up."

"Wasn't I enough? Did I do something wrong? Hindi mo ba talaga ako minahal?" She asks and bawat tanong n'ya ay dumudurog sa puso ko.

"You were more than enough, Bea. Wala kang kasalanan at mahal na mahal kita.." I say slowly, fighting back tears that were about to form. "Mahal na mahal pa rin kita."

I was afraid of that one question pero I know doon na papunta 'tong usapan namin. It's inevitable and we both know it.

"Then why did you cheat on me?"
