Chapter12 - Autograph

The inside of the house was a fire hazard, for sure. There were people everywhere. People drinking, smoking, and I was sure there was a couple having sex on the love seat in the living room.

A group of girls screamed and started running toward us. They were all blonde and had high heels on. They looked like they wanted sex with anyone willing to give it.

I groaned.

"Oh my gosh!"

"You're Liam Payne!"

"I can't believe you're here!" The girls screamed, there voices shrill. How did Liam stand that all the time?

"Have you seen Lexi Evans?" I asked. The girls ignored me.

"Can we get your autograph?" One of the girls asked.

"Help me find her sister and you can." Liam said.

The girls glanced at me and they looked irritated. I felt the same about them.

"Sure, whatever." One of the girls said, glaring at me when Liam wasn't looking.

"Come on, let's check upstairs." Liam said to me. He grabbed my hand and led me toward the stairs.

There was a couple sitting about halfway up the steps, making out. There were dozens of red solo cups floating around, some full of light brown drinks.

We checked the upstairs bedrooms before walking back down the steps with no luck. There were too many people, all of whom were not Lexi. Was she even still at the party?

"Let's check outside." I said, yelling over the loud music.

We walked through the house and out to the backyard. There was a pool with dozens of people floating, beer cans in their hands. Standing on the picnic table looked to be Lexi but I couldn't see well enough to know if it was really her.

"Hey, cutie." A guy said, coming up behind Liam and I. He slid an arm around my shoulders.

Liam pulled me close against his side, away from the creep. "She's taken."

"Dude, chill." The guy said, holding his hands up in surrender. He had short brown hair and brown eyes to match. His skin was tan and he was wearing blue swim trunks. His chest was bare as were his feet.

"No, you chill. Harassing girls isn't cool."

"I wasn't harassing her. I was just saying hi."

"Now, she's saying bye."

"She can speak for herself." He said, narrowing his eyes.

"Let's go, Liam." I said, pulling him toward where Lexi was.

We pushed past a group of people playing volleyball with no net and walked up to the picnic table.

"Hey!" Lexi said, walking to the edge of the table. She looked like she was going to jump. "You got my message!"

"Lex, hold on."

"To what?"

I got up to her level and took her hand. "We're going home."

"Home? But the party just started."

I took a deep breath and wrinkled my nose. She smelled like weed and alcohol. "Lex, please tell me you didn't smoke pot."

"No way! I did do a little bit of marijuana though."

"Pot is marijuana."

She looked at me, her eyes narrowed like she was deep in thought. "Are you sure?"

I sighed. "Come on, Lex. You can ask questions later."

"Okie dokie!" She said cheerfully.

I followed Liam around to the front of the house and back to where the limo was waiting. There were a few people milling around but none seemed interested in us. And, thankfully, the preppy girls had forgotten about us.

Liam helped Lexi into the limo then held the door open for me.

"Where are we going?" Lexi asked.

"Home." I said, sliding in beside her.

She groaned. "I don't wanna go home. I wanna party."

"We're going home."

She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted like a little child.

"I'm sorry about all of this." I said to Liam.

"Hey, I'm here for you. Whatever you need."

I rested my head on his shoulder. "I wish you didn't have to go."

"It's only for two weeks. Then you won't be grounded anymore and we can spend more time with each other."

"It's going to be the longest two weeks of my life."

He laughed and kissed the top of my head.

"Liv, I think I'm gonna be sick." Lexi said, holding her stomach.

Liam asked the driver to stop the car. Just as I was helping Lexi put her head out the car door, she threw up, narrowly missing my hands as I pulled her hair back.
