Scout's Flashback
â—‡
The ground was more dirt then gravel at this point. The truck would rock back and forth, nearly causing Scout to ruin his precious drawing he was working hard on.
Scout took a swig of his water before screwing the cap back on. He had been sitting in this truck for hours and he was honestly wishing he was home right aout now. He misses hanging out with Commander and doing whatever.
"So? How's your first mission going?" Soldier leaned over and grinned. Scout took a break from coloring and huffed. He leaned back and hit against the metal back of the truck. "It's boring. I should of listened when I was told that this would just be lame!" Scout complained.
Douboy snorted, "Told you, Soldier! The kid hates them as much as we do!" Soldier rolled his eyes and leaned back with Scout. "Yeah, these aren't always the best. They get pretty boring, but we do them for the greater good," he explained.
"If we didn't do this then we would be going to war like a blind dog. So what you're doing right now is pretty darn great," Soldier had them look on the bright side.
Scout smiled, "Thanks, Soldier." Soldier gave him a slight punch on the shoulder, "Eh, what are good towers for?"
The two broke off the chat when Winter Soldier began to point out the back of the truck, catching their attention. "Check it out! Corn! Pee break anyone?" he called.
Scout waved his hand around, mostly looking for a excuse to stretch his legs. Soldier had the driver stop and everyone got out for much needed stretching.
However, before Scout could make his marry way into the woods, Soldier was gonna become a Mama Commander 2.0. "Here's your pistol, your hunting knife, and you better know what poison ivy looks like," Soldier got him ready.
"Some corn for the road too!" Douboy snapped an ear off and tossed it at Scout. Scout happily placed it in his bag and tossed it back into the truck. "Don't worry! I'm not making the same mistake after that last poison ivy incident"
Scout glared as Douboy and Winter Soldier snickered at him. They knew that story too well. "Don't get your wewe bit off by a snake!" Douboy called.
Scout silently mocked him as he went deeper in the woods for some privacy. "Stupid Douboy! One day he'll be groveling at my feet as I become the greatest tower known!" Scout fantasized himself as a dictator as he found a good spot.
After his pitstop, Scout kicked some leaves over it and began to look around. At first this place didn't seem so bad when he was walking in, but now it seemed a bit unsettling. Almost as if something was watching.
"O-Oh no! This forest could be haunted!" Scout feared. Then he snorted at the thought, "If they heard me say that, they would be screaming in-"
Terror. Screams of terror.
There was gunshots and screams. His team was in trouble. Scout took out his pistol and sprinted back to where the truck was.
Scout tried to piece together what might be happening. Maybe they found a cute kitten? Maybe there was a big bear? Scout tried his best to think anything other then about the bad titans out there trying to kill everyone.
Perhaps they could handle it? Did they want him in harm's way? Scout shook his head and growled. Whatever was happening, they needed him too!
When Scout got back to the truck, he stopped just in time to avoid Douboy being thrown his way.
"Douboy!" Scout cried out as he hurried over to check on him. Douboy groaned in pain while he held onto his side. "W-What's wrong? What is happening?" Scout sheepishly shook him.
"Well, well..." a new voice caught Scout's attention. It sounded masculine and somewhat sassy. Scout turned around and gulped. It was a titan. It wasn't a huge titan, but it was still taller than them all. It was holding Winter Soldier by the collar, the side of his head bloody.
He had a pumpkin head, much like Sinister. Except he was orange. He also had no scar. This was the titan who hurt Sinister real bad.
"I see I have some even fresher meat! Say, who might you be?" the titan asked as he dropped the bloodied tower and spun his oddly familiar axe to his shoulder. Scout knew it would be bad to give this titan any information, but this might buy him and his friends some time.
Scout got his pistol out and kept it by his side. "S-Scout, sir. Um, who are you?" the tower asked. The titan roared in laughter, "Who am I? Well I thought maybe my good friend Sinister would of told you by now! My boy, the name is Jaxe!"
That's when it started. The excessive talking and monologing. Scout had lucked out, he was distracting the narcissistic titan by having him talk about himself.
Douboy and Winter Soldier saw the clever trick. They crawled their way back to the truck and helped one another in as Scout stood there and pretended to listen to what Jaxe was talking about.
Scout looked around for Soldier, but he couldn't see him at all. He looked over at the others in the truck and they all shook their head. Scout snapped his head forward as Jaxe called out to him.
"Were you even listening, you pathetic tower?" Jaxe asked, tapping his foot against the dirt ground. Scout fumbled with his words, "Uhm, I am listening! Just trying to find a penny I thought I had dropped for a moment!" He grinned forcibly.
Jaxe glared at Scout, almost as if contemplating. Then, the stalks of corn shook and Soldier came tumbling out, a small scratch on his chin. He was breathing heavy.
"Ha! I see you're back from your flight! I'll let you puny towers go, but there's a tax to be paid for driving on my road," Jaxe menacingly laughed, his axe swing expertly in his hand as he stalked over to Soldier.
Scout wasn't the brightest, but he knew trouble when he saw it. This was trouble. Soldier tried to fire at him, but his gun jammed. Jaxe sneered, "Looks like the landing might of messed up your little gun. Less fun for me-"
Jaxe winced as a couple of rounds were shot into his back. Hissing, he turned around to see that Scout was the one responsible. Scout's face was on serious mode. He was ready to fight.
Jaxe, however, grinned at annoyance turned amusement. "I see that one of you is still willing to give me a bit of entertainment!" Jaxe spoke. "Scout, no-" Soldier tried to run up and stop it, but he was harshly kicked away by the titan.
"I'll go easy on you, little man. Where's the fun in crushing you in one fowl swoop?" Jaxe declared. Scout swallowed down his saliva and lifted his pistol back up, attempting to fire at the pumpkin's head.
Jaxe quickly lifted his sturdy axe to his face, blocking any bullets from hitting him. Jaxe hissed and stomped his foot, making the ground rattle a bit, "How dare you try to hit my perfect face, you little brat!"
Scout gasped in realization. This titan cared about his appearance. Were all pumpkin head titans narcissists?
A sudden idea came to him. Scout dived out of the way before he was chopped in half by a big axe. He shot a few more rounds before taking out his hunting knife Commander had gifted him.
Scout had never used it before. Yeah he would chuck it at walls in his room (that he hoped Commander will never find put about), but never in a fight. Today seemed to be the day though.
Scout ducked in time to avoid having his head chopped off as the axe boomeranged. It loyally came back to Jaxe and the titan stomped forward.
"Scout! Get out of there! Get on the truck, I can buy you guys some time!" Soldier yelled. Scout shook his head as he ran for a stack of hay, "You get in the truck, I have a plan!"
Soldier tried to go after Scout, but the driver dragged him over and tossed him in the truck. The driver jumped into the driver's seat and revved the truck to life. He quickly turned the truck around so they could easily escape back to where they had traveled from once Scout was done.
Scout climbed the haystack as fast as he could. Amused chortling only had him going faster. "What are you gonna do? Toss some straw at me?" Jaxe mocked.
Scout was now eye level with the titan. This was as good as it would get. Tossing his pistol to the side, he got ready. Jaxe stalked closer, axe raising above his head. Scout's right hand squeezed the handle of the knife.
One chance.
Letting out a battle cry, Scout caught Jaxe off guard as he lunged forward and stuck to his face. Scout gripped the stem of his head as he leaned back and lifted his knife. Jaxe gasped and tried to stop it, but he was too late.
Jaxe let out a blood curdling scream as Scout slashed down his eye to his jagged mouth. Scout was promptly peeled off and tossed aside as the titan grabbed at his face.
Scout was left in shock for a moment. Did he really do that? It could be him in shock or him having a slight concussion, but he didn't hear the other towers calling for him.
He was finally snapped out of it after Soldier ran to his side and practically carried him to the truck. The two were pulled up and the driver sped away, sturing up dust along the way.
The soldiers cheered for Scout, who was finally snapping out of his daze. "Scout, that was awesome! Wait until Commander hears about this!" Douboy praised.
Scout snorted a bit, "If he knows about this then he's going to hire a babysitter to watch me while everyone else goes on missions!" All the towers laughed, forgetting their wounds for a moment.
Then, the truck began to shake. Almost as if there was an earthquake. The towers in the back of the truck looked out from behind them. From the dust, Jaxe rampaged forward. A new long and nasty scar ran down his face.
Jaxe roared at them, "You're dead meat! All of you! You've ruined the cunning and most defiantly handsome Jaxe!" His strides were long and powerful and he didn't seem to be slowing down.
"Step on it!" Soldier screamed at the driver. "This is as fast as it will go!" the driver commented. The towers watched in horror as Jaxe was catching up. If he caught the truck, then he would smash it with them stll in it.
Scout pat around for his knife, but it was gone. It was probably left back in the fields. Scout looked for anything to use, so did the others. Scout looked up in time to see Jaxe throw his axe.
Scout gasped and sprinted towards Soldier, who was about to get hit. "Soldier, I got y-" Scout yelled as he shoved Soldier out of the way, but his sentence was cut off.
Winter Soldier screamed, which dialed down to a sob as he watched it all happen. Soldier quickly sat up and looked down, blood covering the floor. He checked himself, it wasn't him.
Looking over, he began to scream as Scout laid there, fear plastered on his face as he bled out. "No! No, fucking damnit! Come on, Scout! We'll get you to Medic!" Soldier sobbed out as he tried his best to stop the bleeding.
Jaxe was gone too, he was no longer chasing them. Soldier pat Scout's face, trying to keep him awake. "It's okay! We're gonna get you home! You'll be good as new!" Soldier promised, but it seemed his efforts were futile.
Scout let out a small cough before ceasing his movements. His eyes relaxed and his body fell limp, his body still warm. Soldier shook in place as he sobbed out.
