Things In The Little Mermaid Which Don't Add Up And I Tried To Fix In My Story

Hi guys.

Here we are, at the end of the story.
It was fun right? Creative?

Well I really had fun writing this story cause The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies and Ariel is one of my favorite Disney Princesses.

And I had a lot of fun writing a Gender bent Story for her.

But before we officially say goodbye to this book, I just want to mention a few little things.

Now, as we all know Disney movies are all full of plotholes.

Not that we mind, they are fairytales after all.

But when it comes to The Little Mermaid, there are just too many unexplained story line to not notice, and I tried as much as possible to fill all those plotholes in my book.

Don’t worry though, The Little Mermaid will always be one of our nostalgic childhood movies, but we’re Poor Unfortunate Souls no more.

1.Why Didn’t Ariel Just Write Down Her Whole Situation On A Piece Of Paper?

Now you might argue that maybe, she doesn’t know how to read and write. But remember, she read and wrote when she signed Ursula’s contract right? So why couldn’t she do that with Eric?

To fill this plothole, I made Sebastian tell [Y/n] what exactly was going on, instead of keeping her in the dark.

That way, she could be able to help in all the ways that she could to get Aaron’s voice back.

But we all know how that turned out.

2.Why Didn’t Sebastian Just Tell Eric Of Ariel’s Situation?

You may argue here that humans can’t hear sea animals talk. But remember Sebastian was the one who whispered Ariel’s name in Eric’s ear.

So why didn’t just whisper the whole case, that would have made things a whole easier.

But then again, maybe the writers wanted to keep things like that till the end of the movie, to make everything more epic.

To answer this though, just like the answer to the first question, I made Sebastian tell [Y/n], exactly what was going on.

3.Where Are Eric’s Parents?

In the movie, we see Eric spend time with his caretaker Grim, but we never see anyone else from his family.

His title is still Prince, so there has to be a King and Queen, so where are they?
We don’t really know.

In my story, I tried to fill that plothole by making it that the girls' parents die, before they’re even teenagers.

Hey, it’s fanfiction remember, input your own ideas.

4.Eric’s Fishy Diet

Mermaids are like fish right? So it’s interesting that Ariel doesn’t find anything wrong with Eric’s fishy diet.

Or is it like in that Fairy Odd Parents episode where the King of Atlantis reveals that even merpeople eat other sea animals?

Who knows?

Anyways, in my story I made it that Aaron did find their fishy diet disturbing.

[Y/n] notices of course, and offers to get him something else to eat later.

5.Basically Strangers

We know, we know. Love at first sight is a huge deal for Disney movies.

But comparing it to what was sad in Frozen, don’t you think that Ariel was acting a tad immature when it came to giving up her life for him?

She was willing to do anything just to be with a guy she literally just met and literally knew nothing about, including giving up her voice.

And though she wanted to be human apart from Eric, she didn’t need to get married to him that quick.

In my story, I filled that plothole up by making it that Aaron and [Y/n] had been friends for years.

At least that’s better since they really really know each other, and it was also because of [Y/n], Aaron’s interest in the human world grew.

6.Just Kiss Him!

I know I didn’t fully answer this question in my book but, this is a question that has always be bothering me about The Little Mermaid.

Why didn’t Ariel try a bit harder to kiss Eric?

Is it cause she was too shy, or she wanted to set the mood?

I have no idea.

But, like we said before, the writers made it like that so that we could have that epic ending we actually saw.

7.Vanessa And Eric

Eric and Vanessa? Remember?

He just came up and said he wanted to marry her and everyone was like 'okay'.

That makes no sense.

Why didn’t anyone question his choices? Was it because he was The Crown Prince?

Why didn’t Grim say anything?

In my story, I made Erica question this.

Sure, it was also her fulfilling her role as her big sister, but someone needed to do that.

I almost made a scene where they like had a big fight but then I remember that when Eric was under that spell, he was like a robot.

Couldn’t feel, almost couldn’t blink, so, I left it that way.

The Little Mermaid is actually filled with much more plotholes than the ones mentioned above, but these are the ones I tried as much as possible to fill in my book.

Call me Disney Thrash, but I still love The Little Mermaid, plotholes and all.

That’s the beauty about Disney.

All these plotholes make the movie more interesting to watch.

Well, that ends my The Little Mermaid X Reader Story.

I had a fun time.

Funny enough, because of the way I planned the plot, the Hamilton Musical Song 'Satisfied' was in my head the whole time I was writing this.

Uh!

Anyways check out my next story now, first chapter is up.

The 13 Dancing Princesses.

Bye
