“I don’t just understand why it didn’t work. I mean the Princess did kiss you, you should be talking by now.”

Sebastian said to Aaron as the both of them sat in Aaron’s room in the castle.

“Maybe you didn’t kiss her right. Did you hold back, or are your lips too chapped.”
Aaron glared at Sebastian and looked down sadly

He didn’t understand why the kiss didn’t work. It was a kiss of true love right?

Aaron’s line of thinking was interrupted when he heard a small melody outside of his window.

He walked over to his window and smiled softly when he saw [Y/n] playing the flute, standing at the bank of the river.

“Tomorrow is the last day, and that means you’ve got to try harder. Maybe you two can go out again on a romantic picnic. We’ll set the mood again and maybe……Aaron are you listening to…”

Sebastian turned to see that Aaron was leaning against his window, looking outside with a lovesick look on his face.

“What are you…” Sebastian looked outside and saw that it was [Y/n].

Then he blinked his eyes in realization.

“Oh, we’ve got it all wrong from the start. Why didn’t I see it before?” He hopped in front of Aaron, drawing the young man’s attention to him.

“We’ve been going after the wrong princess. You’re not in love with the Princess Erica. You’re in love with the one who has been your best friend for years. You’re in love with Princess [Y/n].”

Aaron gave him a 'what are you talking about?' look.

A knock was heard on the door and it creaked open, revealing Erica on the other side.

“Hi. Can I come in.”

Aaron nodded and she entered.

They both stood awkwardly for a while.

“So…um…about earlier…” Erica started.

“Listen, I just want to be sincere with you. When we kissed, I didn’t feel what I expected to feel with you. Not that the kiss was bad, it just that there was no spark. Do you get what I mean?”

Aaron nodded. He too understood that the kiss was kind of awkward.

“I just want to clear the air. We shouldn’t let that kiss make things awkward between us. Let’s just agree to let it go and be normal friends. Deal?”

Aaron nodded smiling, and Erica smiled back.

“Now on to more important matters. I’ve noticed that…you’re in love with my sister.” Erica said seriously.

Aaron’s eyes widened and he shook his head frantically.

“Oh come on don’t deny it. I see the way you look at her. It’s the little things, those little details. And I can tell she loves you too.”

Aaron’s head dropped as he started thinking.

“Oh. I get it. You’re in doubt. Well don’t be Aaron. You love her, even if you don’t know it. You two go so well together.” She reached forward and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“You shouldn’t push away your feelings. Embrace them instead, and tell her how you feel.”

Erica tapped his shoulder and turned around, leaving Aaron to his thoughts.

Aaron sat on his bed, with his head in his hands, thinking.

'Was he really in love with [Y/n]? Was she really the love of his life? Sure, he knew that whenever he was with her he felt free, and happy and contented. Whenever he was with her, he felt butterflies. She made him feel like he was on top of the world. She was the main reason he wanted to live in the human world in the first place. Not to mention she’s beautiful, smart, caring, amazing…
Wait! Wait! He was, no is, in love with [Y/n]!
Oh no! What if she doesn’t love him back.
But Erica said she did. Did she really love him back?
What if she did?'

                        ************

[Y/n] finished playing her song on the flute, and sighed sadly.

“I thought I might have you here.” She turned to see Erica walking towards her with a blanket in her hands.

“Here.” Erica draped the blanket over her sister’s shoulder, and then pulled her to herself, making [Y/n] rest her head on her shoulders.

“How are you?”

“I’m okay.” [Y/n] replied weakly.

“You can’t lie to me you know.” [Y/n] sighed at that

“Yeah, I know.”

Silence!

“I kissed him.”

“Really?” [Y/n] jerked up. “Is he okay, did he tell you anything?”

“Um…no. He’s still not talking, why was something supposed to happen?”

[Y/n] flushed.

“No, I was…just curious.”

“Hmmm. You know I didn’t feel anything when we kissed. No sparks, no fireworks, nothing.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know. But again, I guess that’s good. Cause that means he can be with you.” Erica said looking at her sister.

“What?” [Y/n] asked confused.

“He loves you, and you love him too.”

“Erica…"

“[Y/n], I see the way you two look at each other. With so much love. You two also go well together, everything you do is in perfect harmony. As if you two have known yourselves all through your lives.”

[Y/n] awkwardly looked away at that, which Erica caught.

“You know his name’s actually…”

“Aaron.” [Y/n] realized her slip up and quickly added. “I…I’m guessing.”

“So you two do know each other.” Erica said, now very much convinced.

“No, I was just…”

“[Y/n].” Erica said in a warning tone, making [Y/n] sigh.

“We’ve known each other since we were kids. He was the reason I was always sneaking out of the castle to the beach.”

“Yeah I remember, Mom and Dad would always go crazy searching everywhere for you.” Erica said smiling

“Yeah.” [Y/n] let out a small laugh. “He was also the one who gave me this necklace.”

She showed the necklace to her sister.

“The one you never take off.”

[Y/n] nodded.

“You’ve loved him since then, haven’t you?” Erica asked.

“Yeah.” [Y/n] whispered.

“Then why didn’t you tell me? Why did you try to push us together when you knew that you were hurting.”

“Because I thought……I mean……Aaron was the one who saved you from drowning. And well, you were so in love with that person and I found out Aaron was that guy, I had to introduce you two cause I wanted you to be happy. I wanted to see you smile again. And I figured if Aaron could make you happy, who am I to come in between you two?”

Erica placed her hand on [Y/n]'s cheek.

“You really are an amazing girl [Y/n], and I appreciate you thinking of me. But, you’re my sister, don’t you think I’d want to see you happy too?”

“But I…”

“Look, the bottom line now is that Aaron loves you, not me. You both love each other, and nothing can change that. He’ll make you happy, and as long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Besides, I already told you I never felt sparks when we kissed right? That means whatever feelings I had for him were simply out of infatuation. But what you two have, is the purest and most truest love I’ve ever seen.”

[Y/n] blinked away the tears from her eyes and rushed forward, pulling her sister in for a hug.

“Thank you so much for being the best big sister ever.”

“You’re welcome, little sis.”

They pulled back.

“Now come on, time to get your man.” Erica winked playfully, making [Y/n] laugh.

“I’ll be up in a minute.”

“Okay, don’t stay up too long. Good night love.”

“Good night sis.” Erica went back into the castle.

[Y/n] smiled at her sister’s retreating figure. She looked down and grabbed her necklace, then looked up to Aaron’s room window.

She threw her flute into the ocean and started walking towards the castle, when she heard a melody.

[Y/n] turned when she heard Aaron’s singing voice and looked down to the beach, seeing the silhouette of a young man.

Suddenly, magic flew from the necklace the man had on his neck towards the young Princess.

It entered her eyes changing them from their bright (e/c) and covering them in a purple hue.
