After I got my teleporting under control, Coulson started going out on missions again. The first few were small, and I didn't worry so much but then, at the end of October, there was talk of a dangerous 0-8-4 that Coulson had to go and deal with. The mission would only take a few hours, but the risks were high. He promised me he'd be back at before dinner so when dinner came, and I couldn't find him I got really worried.
I didn't eat and wait for him to get to the hall. Instead, I ran straight to where Fury was and asked him where Coulson was.
"We haven't heard from the mission he was on yet." Fury replied in his normal serious tone.
"Why not? They were meant to be back by now." I asked, trying to sound calm.
"There must have been a complication, but they'll be back soon so go back to the cafeteria and eat something, you didn't have a very big lunch." Fury suggested.
"You may be my legal guardian when Coulson's not around but you're not my dad so don't act like it." I snapped slightly, trying to keep my cool.
"I am aware, your dad is dead after all." Fury replied coldly, and I was about to lose it when I heard another agent call over to Fury. I hate Fury sometimes. He's not kind and caring like Coulson, he's cold and mean and likes to say things that will upset me. I can sense that he cares for me very slightly but it's not enough to show.
"Agents Melinda May and Phil Coulson are on their way back to the base sir."
"How long?" Fury asked, mainly for my sake.
"They estimate 5 minutes."
I smiled, completely forgetting how angry I was at Fury as I ran out of the room and towards the entrance and sat by the door with my hood over my face, so no one would look at me weirdly while I waited.
After about 5 minutes, Coulson and another agent came through the door. I jumped up and ran over to him. "Dad!" I shouted as I jumped and hugged him, catching him by surprise.
"Alice? What's up?" Coulson asked, hugging me back.
"You promised you'd be back by dinner..." I mumbled.
"Oh, I'm sorry for worrying you." He apologized as we both let go.
"Don't do it again." I scolded and then looked over to the agent who came in with him, who was looking very confused.
Coulson saw where my eyes landed and got the hint, "Alice, this is Agent Melinda May, I mentioned her before I think." I nodded as he turned to May, "May, this is Alicandra Morgan, my daughter." I smiled at the fact he introduced me as his daughter and not just a young agent he was looking after.
"Nice to meet you." She smiled at me, still confused. 'He mentioned me before? Our previous mission... I hope he didn't go into detail... That would be embarrassing.'
I smiled back at her, "It's nice to see you too May." Then I turned to Coulson with a jokey look of suspicion, "What exactly did you two do on your last mission that has May so worried about me knowing?"
Coulson looked down at me with a raised eyebrow but May looked at me with confusion, "Stop reading people's minds."
"I can't help it!" I shouted with a smile as Coulson pulled my hood off of my head.
"Yes, you can." He said as my face was revealed and I shouted at him for doing that in embarrassment since I could tell that May had worked out who I was.
'Phil's kid is the Shadow Master...' May thought.
"Yes, I am," I said in my normal cold voice as I pulled my hood back up as far as it would go. "Now I'm going to get dinner since I skipped it after worrying so much about Coulson." I said and walked away before May could ask anything else. I know it was mean to snap at her but I know what people have said about me so when she said my alias, I knew she knew my darker side.

Later that night, I was about to go to bed when I heard a knock at my door and felt Coulson's mind outside. "Come in Coulson." I called as I sat back up in my bed and moved the covers. Coulson opened the door with a smile.
"Hey, I just wanted to apologize to you again for worrying you, it wasn't my intention." Coulson said in a soft voice as he entered the room.
"It's fine but, as I hear it, you were lucky that May was sent with you. You need to be careful." I scolded him as he sat next to me.
"I know, I know, and I will be, I promise." He meant the promise, but I knew that it meant nothing, Coulson was kind of reckless and that wasn't going to change.
"I just wish I could have been there with you, I would have had your back." I sighed in disappointment.
"I know but you know you aren't allowed into the field yet." He reminded me with a small smile.
"When will I be able to go out on missions with you?"
"When your training is finished."
"You mean if and when I can control my powers and am no longer a threat to everyone on the team." I looked up at him with sadness in my eyes despite my cold tone of voice.
"It's the rules sweetheart." He shrugged.
"I know but I've been able to control the shadows for half of my life and yet in all of that time I've never been able to control or even stop the darkness."
"You'll get it and, when you do, I'll personally take you out on your first mission." He smiled, and I did as well, "Now you get some sleep, I'll see you tomorrow." He got off of the bed and started walking out of the room.
"Night dad." I smiled, pulling the covers back over me and smuggling into my bed.
"Night sweetheart." He replied turning off the lights and closing the door quietly. I drifted into a peaceful sleep knowing that Coulson would always be by my side.
