chapter sixteen
epilogue.
5 years later.
"Slow down!"
Christina scoffed loudly as two blurs passed by her in the kitchen. She tapped her finger against the granite counter as she turned her head towards the living room. Jacob and Seth ran through the kitchen after the two blurs, Annie right behind them.
"Sorry, mom!"
Christina rolled her eyes before continuing to make lunch for the bunch.
It's been five years since the battle between the Cullens and the Volturi. Both children were growing slower and slower each day that passed. Even though they were both five years old, Nessie looked to be fifteen years old, and Greyson looked to be fourteen. Annie was right behind them at the age of thirteen.
Nessie and Greyson were homeschooled through the years until they became a frozen age, they weren't allowed to join the rest of the Cullens to school — which also included Jacob and Seth now.
The whole family decided not to move too far just yet. They only moved a state down — finding a place to reside in Ashland, Oregan. Christina and Bella didn't want to move too far away from Charlie, just yet.
Plus, it was only a day run for Jacob and Seth to get back home, in case Leah needed them — who decided to stay back and try to stop phasing. She was getting older now, and with a lack of danger on every corner, she decided to settle down. Also, to add to the fact that she found her imprint in someone Christina wouldn't expect.
It was during the Cullen's moving away party that Leah found her soulmate in Christina's best friend, Darien. It was a shock to both of them, but Christina couldn't be more pleased to see them both happy with each other. It was a rough beginning since Darien was getting over his latest fling, and having to explain the supernatural to him wasn't easy — but they were going five years strong now.
"Lunch is ready!" Christina called, knowing that the group that ate human food would be able to hear her.
Nessie had gotten over her aversion to human food as she got older. She still preferred to drink animal's blood but found that she enjoyed eating meat as well.
Greyson was still an Angel to Christina's eyes — even if everyone called her bias because of it.
Greyson was definitely a momma's boy growing up, while Annie turned more towards Carlisle for affection. It wasn't rare to see both children cuddled around their parents on the couch watching TV — and while both kids loved each of their parents the same amount, they knew which parent to go to for what they wanted. Greyson had Christina wrapped around his finger, while Annie had Carlisle.
Neither of the children had slipped in their diets, being part human gave them an advantage over their blood lust. The boys would often find amusement in a challenge of control, seeing who could go the longest; and the children would always win. So far, Nessie had the most wins out of all of them.
"We're home!" Bella called.
Nessie smiled before leaving her plate half-eaten on the table. She ran into the living room to greet Edward and Bella as they walked through the door.
"Thank God," Christina sighed as they walked into the kitchen. "It's been Hell dealing with the children."
"Hey!" Each one of them complained, making the mother smirk.
Bella chuckled before greeting the two wolves. "How were Forks and La Push?"
Jacob shrugged his shoulders. "The same. Emily's pregnant again."
Christina cooed. "I'll have to give her a call and congratulate her."
"Charlie sends his love, and says to come to visit soon," Seth mentioned. "I think he's preparing to ask Marg to marry him."
Bella and Christina smiled, already knowing the answer to the assumption. The mother turned to the couple. "How was school?"
Edward had managed to talk Bella into going to college, which all the Cullens decided to do instead of going back to high school. They would wait until the next move to 'start over.' Even though Charlie was on a need-to-know-basis, it would still seem weird to him that they were going into high school instead of college.
Edward chuckled as Bella gave a big sigh. "She hates it."
"I don't hate it," Bella corrected. "I'm just going to change my major."
Christina furrowed her brows. "Why?"
Bella looked sheepish, and Christina was sure that if she were human she would blush. "I remember why I barely passed the classes I shared with Edward."
Jacob groaned around his food, making everyone but Bella laugh. "Gross."
Annie placed her plate in the dishwasher before wrapping her arm around her mother's midsection. "Can we go play?"
Christina nodded her head, making Annie and Greyson cheer. Even after five years, they still liked to play hide and seek — of course, it made it all the more fun when all three kids would hide from Jacob and Seth in their wolf form, and the two wolves would have to find them. Greyson liked to cheat a lot and hide in the trees — while Nessie would run around, not staying in one spot.
"When should we go to visit Forks?" Bella asked, joining Christina's side and watching the kids run around the backyard with the wolf form of Jacob and Seth.
"Soon," she answered. "Thanksgiving is coming up. We should plan for the holidays."
"Sounds like a good idea."
Christina turned her head and grinned at Carlisle as he entered the kitchen. He slipped his doctor's coat off of his shoulders before hanging it up in the closet for the next day. Christina walked closer to him and greeted him with a light kiss.
"How are you?" He asked, landing a kiss on her forehead.
"Alright," she answered with a grin.
He grinned back before wrapping his arms around her midsection, staring down at the growing stomach of his wife. "And how is the baby?"
"Hungry as ever," Christina grumbled, making him laugh in response. The mother had more cravings this pregnancy than she ever did with Annie and Greyson.
"What was it today?" He asked.
"Pickles." She rested her head on his pecks, listening to his chuckle from his hollow chest. "All day. She's relentless."
"She, huh?" Bella commented, leaning into Edward's side. "It's gonna be a girl this time?"
Christina gave her a wink in response. "It's just a feeling."
"What are you gonna name her?" Edward asked, instantly knowing the answer to his question from reading the mother's mind.
"Elora Emerson."
