I don't expect you to understand my situation.
But what I do expect you to understand is my feelings.
It's like back-to-school.
You dread it when you're a kid.
but you know it's coming one way or another.
And,
in this case,
I felt that about the case of the Scott arson.
It was still all over the news.
still.
even though I almost have it.
I almost have the culprit.
There was only one thing I needed to prove my case:
and it was Addy.
But there was something else I needed to get addy.
Summer.
But she was in the hospital.
she was in danger.
So all that's left was to try.
I picked up my phone.
I waited.
I waited for the answer.
But I didn't get one.
So I did what I could.
I listened to the loud ringing in my ears again.
Then I got an answer.
but not from Summer.
"Listen, Nate. I don't know if you want to hear from me right now, given our last conversation, but I need your help. Please." I said softly into the phone.
His voice was the only thing that made me feel safe.
Even if he wasn't the same.
"Bronwyn. It's okay. Of course I will help. What's up?" He asks.
His reassurance made me smile.
I sighed in relief.
"I need you to meet me at the police station in 10 minutes, okay?"
"Uh, okay. Did something happen?"
"Uh, yeah, kind of. I'll explain when you get here."
"Sure. Meet you there in 10." He answers, and then hangs up.
I sighed and got in an uber.
Once I got there,
I was kind of blank.
Sure,
I'd called Nate,
but was it because I knew what to do,
or I was just calling because I still love him?
All of these thoughts scrambled my mind.
I couldn't contain them.
My heart was racing.
I was getting breathless.
I went outside for some air.
I breathed it in, and tried to calm myself down.
I told myself it was just fine.
I felt fine.
I was okay.
.....
soon enough Nate showed up,
in his leather jacket.
My breaths became slower and all my problems just melted away.
like ice.
I didn't realize he was speaking to me.
"Bronwyn, are you okay? Bronwyn?"
I shook my head.
"What? Nate?" I asked.
Then I hugged him so tight.
I clung to him for life.
Something didn't feel right.
"Bronwyn, what's going on?"
I sighed.
"I need you to help me find Summer. I don't have any more money to get there."
"Okay. Here, Summer's maids let me use one of the cars. Get in." He answered.
I got in the car and watched the night sky and the stars pass by.
I didn't look at anything other than what was in front of me.
For quite a while, actually.
"If you don't mind me asking, why do you need me to help you find Summer?"
I took a couple deep breaths.
"Because I know who the arsonist is."
"WHAT?" Nate exclaimed. "Who is it?"
"Just drive, please, and I'll explain. I just need to find Summer."
He nodded.
.......
we made it to the hospital,
where we thought Summer was.
But she wasn't.
We spoke to a couple of cops there,
who said they talked to her.
But no leads.
But,
then,
we found him.
"M-m-mr. Scott?" I mumbled.
He panted.
and then turned around.
he was bruised,
he was bloody.
I moved towards him.
Nate grabbed my arm,
stopping me.
"Bronwyn." He said. "I don't trust him," he whispered.
"It's okay." I answered, and pulled myself away.
I brought myself closer.
"Bronwyn. What a pleasant surprise." Rex says, smiling. Then he looks over my shoulder. "And you brought biker boy."
I scoffed.
"I know this probably isn't a good time, but, by any chance, do you know where Summer is?"
He nodded angrily.
"Oh, sure. before she beat me up and ratted me out."
"What?" I exclaimed.
He smiled.
"Oh, nothing." He answers.
"She likes to go to the pier." He answered, and turns back around.
I sighed,
shaking.
enough was said.
So Nate and I headed off.
"All the way in Santa Monica? That's over a two hour drive!" Nate said.
"I know. But I need her, Nate. Please." I begged.
I came closer to him,
so my lips were to his ear.
"I don't know how much time we have." I whisper.
He nods and takes me to the car.
And we drove.
far,
but we drove.
Little did we know the pier was closed.
It was dark.
and abandoned.
But, after 2 hours,
we made it.
Suddenly a little pain struck me again.
I was trying to breath through it.
But I couldn't move.
Nate came around the car and opened the door for me,
and helped me out.
"Bronwyn?" He asks.
"Yes?" I answer.
"Who's-Who's baby is it?" He says, shaking.
Oh no.
the dreaded question.
I didn't know if I could do this.
And I was just starting to forget.
so I did what I could.
I kept walking,
and he followed me.
He ran after me,
through the abandoned amusement park,
and asked the same question.
over,
over,
and over again.
Then,
on the edge of the pier,
overlooking the view of Santa Monica,
I found her.
I stopped in my tracks.
Nate bumped into me,
while he asked the same question again.
Summer's back was turned.
For once,
she had no shoes on,
her light brunette hair was down and messy,
and she was wearing a hospital gown.
her arms and legs were bruised and bloody.
Her back was turned.
We all stood there in silence for a while.
Until it was broken.
"It's yours, Nate." Summer says, quietly.
Nate gasps.
Then turns to me.
His face was now almost filled with fury yet again.
"Bronwyn, why didn't you-"
But he was interrupted.
Summer turned around.
Her face was not as glammed up and perfect as it always was.
she had no makeup on,
bruised and bloody.
She was not the same.
And,
for the record,
she never will be.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
Summer Scott almost never cries.
But she's human.
Tears fell down her cheeks.
"My life was never the pictures." She says. She nods in her tears.
"My father always managed to screw everything up. But I always forgave him, every time." she said.
"But, you're, Summer Scott." I said.
She shakes her head and smiles.
Then she begins to walk closer to me.
"See, thats where you're wrong for once, Bronwyn.
I was never Summer Scott. I'll never be her.
She's dead."
"My boyfriend cheated on me with your sister, my father hid my BROTHER and my real mother from me, let his wife nearly kill me and the best thing that's ever happened to me, and-
I don't know. There's so much more." She comments.
now her voice was completely broken and she was in full meltdown.
"But don't get me wrong, I've done plenty of bad shit.
But I always made up for it.
My father.
He's always been the root."
I nodded.
So did Nate.
"Summer, you can't blame yourself for this. it wasn't-" Nate began.
But then it struck me again.
the knife.
but it was the greater pain in the world.
stronger than any storm.
I got down on my knees and screamed.
Summer and Nate gasped.
"AHHHH!!!!" I screamed.
"BRONWYN!" Summer yelled.
"WE NEED TO GET HER TO THE HOSPITAL, NOW!" She yelled again.
"What? What's happening?" Nate asks.
"WHAT'S HAPPENING IS BRONWYN IS HAVING THE BABY!"
