Nothing felt the same.
Ever.
Everything seemed different.
I wasn't alive,
but I wasn't dead.
I was in some weird state I'd never been in before.
I could hear everybody around me,
but I couldn't see them.
I heard Cooper and Braxton.
They were talking about Wynn and I.
The truth was,
I didn't care about myself.
All I cared about was if Wynn was going to live or die.
But then I heard something interesting.
"Who saved her?" Cooper asks.
I heard Brax's usual long sigh.
He hesitated.
"Nate." He answered.
Nate?
How could Nate save me if he wasn't there?
If he didn't remember me?
Then I heard someone walk in the door.
"Can I see her?" Nate asks.
"Sure." Braxton answers.
I hear Cooper scoff as Nate sits down.
I wonder what happened between the two of them.
"Hey, Summer." Nate says.
I tried to say something back.
But I couldn't move.
I was stuck.
I hear the door shut.
"Cooper!" Braxton exclaims.
I guess Cooper left.
Not sure what he's mad about,
but,
as soon as I'm awake,
I'll find out.
"I know you don't remember me, but we have met before." Braxton says to Nate.
"You look a little familiar." Nate responds.
"There's something you should know." Braxton says.
"What is it?" Nate asks in response.
"It's been so hard to keep anything from Summer. She's a real handful," Braxton begins. "But I love her."
"Yeah?
"Yeah. I just-" Braxton says,
and then pauses.
What the hell is he talking about?
"What's going on?" Nate asks.
It's almost as if he can read my mind or something.
"We're supposed to be getting married in a few days, and I don't know if I can go through with it." He says.
I'd never heard Braxton say something like this before.
They both stay silent for a little while.
Just pure silence.
Until Nate breaks it.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"I cheated on her with Maeve Rojas."
WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.
There was nothing but pure anger and hatred in my body.
It was disgusting.
Him,
MY FIANCE,
AND MAEVE,
BRONWYN'S LITTLE SISTER?
I felt the fire expand rapidly in my body.
Now I was really the one burning.
From the inside out.
I needed to pull myself out of this.
I tried to scream.
I tried to move.
But the pain was too strong.
Then,
I'd realized.
This pain was only too strong if I let it be.
I'm Summer Scott.
And I don't go down without a fight.
I used every ounce of strength in my body.
Then I let my body fly upwards and opened my eyes.
Then I saw them.
They both stood up.
"SUMMER?" They both exclaimed.
I got up and turned towards Braxton and slapped him as hard as I could.
Tears formed in my eyes.
I tried to keep them in,
but my voice was already breaking.
"GET OUT OF HERE, YOU PIECE OF SHIT! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!" I yelled at Braxton,
and then slapped him again.
Nate stood there in shock.
Brax's eyes couldn't stop overflowing with tears.
"Summer, please, I, I didn't think you could-"
"I COULD WHAT, HEAR YOU?" I scream. "WELL, HEAR ME NOW WHEN I TELL YOU THAT IF YOU COME ANYWHERE NEAR ME AGAIN I WILL THROW YOU IN PRISON!!!"
I didn't think I could ever scream like that until yesterday.
But I could.
Braxton's tears finally fall.
"I love you." He answers,
and tries to kiss me one last time.
I take his shoulder and kick him with it and then point at the door.
He looks down at the floor as he leaves.
He leaves the door barely open until I walk over and slam it shut.
Then I collapse onto the ground against my control.
Nate takes my arms and pulls me up.
"I think that's enough for you now." He says,
helping me back into my bed.
I sigh as I lay back down,
and just let the tears flood out of me.
I pant quickly.
Nate sits back down on the chair.
Cooper runs in with a doctor.
"SUMMER?!" He screams.
The doctor rushes over to me as I lean my head back and pant.
The doctor tries to help me.
"DON'T." I yell.
The doctor backs away slowly.
"I'm-I'm f-f-fine." I answer.
Keep your calm, Summer.
Keep your calm.
I sigh.
"Summer, are you okay? What happened?" Cooper exclaims.
"Well, I found out Braxton's biggest secret. He's cheating on me with Maeve Rojas." I answer.
Nate turns towards Cooper.
"She slapped him. Several times." He responds.
"Nobody asked for your opinion, Macauley." Cooper answers.
Nate scoffs.
But I was too tired to interfere.
"Are you okay?" Cooper asks me.
"Meh." I answer. "I'll be fine."
Cooper sits down.
"On the topic of Maeve," Cooper begins.
I roll my eyes.
I hated her now.
She was dead to me.
Even though I barley knew her.
She was dead to me.
"She's-She's dead, Summer." He says.
"WHAT?" I yell.
okay,
she really was dead!
"Where is Bronwyn?" I ask.
Nate sighs.
"We don't know."
"THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS DOING SITTING HERE, WE NEED TO GO FIND BRONWYN NOW!" I exclaim.
I try to get up, but Nate stops me.
"Summer."
"What?!"
"Don't."
"Why not?" I ask.
"Because Bronwyn does not seem like a good griever." Cooper answers.
I take my phone from the nightstand.
I had a million texts.
"What are you doing?" Nate asks.
Just as I was about to dial the number,
he walks in.
"SUMMER SCOTT! STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!"
"DAD?!?!"
