_0Author's POV0_
Octavia just couldn't believe how well her day was going. A mere hour ago at her home, she almost lost hope of ever being saved by the boredom and stress of her own family's home, and yet here she was sharing a small drink with the Masked Demon who saved her life. As they both sat there at the bar, Lollie asked for more light alcoholic drinks and dropped them at their table. After dropping Octavia off with her employee, Lollie, feeling like his job was done, had already headed back to her brother Daryl, confident that the two of them would be fine on their own, especially considering Stolas was dealing with his reunion with his mother.
"So you've been living here, for four years!?"
Octavia surprisingly said clearly to their Master to allow them to have their own dorms.
"I mean, no offence, but I wouldn't exactly call this a comfy hotel all the loud noises and all."
Gray couldn't help but laugh at that.
"That's where your wrong Octi the Master of this place is a kind person so much so that she embedded the entire different section of levels with runes."
Gray replied while taking another sip of his drink.
"I don't see any runes around the room though?" Octavia asked, looking around practically confused to where exactly the exposed runes were. Gray chuckled at her cluelessness.
"You're already looking at it," Gray replied pointing at the ceiling with a large dark and blue tribal design but when she squinted her eyes she noticed that it actually had a giant rune on the center of a large star which is covered by the chandelier.
"Woah, How many properties does it even have?"
she asked, still in awe, at Gray's Master's capabilities in magic.
"Oh, you know one with a bunch of safety and sound proof stuff like that we wouldn't want our innocent underage servants here to hear a banging on the very end of the room now will you?" he said practically making the Goetia Demon blush but she did ponder for a while about why there are children here.
"Right, what's up with the kids here? There some kind of orphanage here or something?" She said jokingly laughing but gained a certain look from Gray even though he has a masked his suddenly stopping of drinking was enough to say that what she said was right.
"Oh, there is."
she said to herself but Gray couldn't help but chuckle.
"Anyone would be able to guess if they observe enough. But, still working here is starting to disintegrate me."
Gray complained, gaining an eyebrow from her.
"What's wrong with working here? I mean this place is very lively, it definitely puts other establishments to shame and I haven't even seen the other rooms yet! Plus you did say the owner of the place is generous enough to help the servants. So why...?"
she once again asked, as Gray took one final sip from his drink.
"Don't get me wrong Octi, I actually like it here, it's just the fact that my Master thought I died and my first and third jobs were quickly replaced. Which is a bodyguard and a servant. So I can't really do my old duties normally anymore."
He replied but still continued as he put back the empty bottle to his space storage.
"Hell, they even went to go as far to start my funeral!"
Gray annoying shouted the last part of his sentence as Octavia couldn't help but laugh at her friend's actions.
"Oh, I can already imagine that happening.... so how long did it take for all of them to calm down?"
She asked curiously while putting a hand on her mouth to hide her smirk.
"A whole darn ass week."
He groaned clearly disturbed by the painfully embarrassing memory
"Especially the children, they always sent themselves flying everyday just to check if I'm real or not- speak of the devi-"
WHOOOOOSH!
Gray suddenly stopped his sentence midway as he felt his senses tingling in a fast pace, and as if to add an example to what he was talking about a single kid Imp went flying crash on his side causing him and the chair to fall from on the side hearing a loud bump on his head on the ground.
THUD!
"Huh? Gray!"
It all happened so fast that Octavia couldn't say anything but yelp Gray's name at the sudden situation she stood up from her seat and went around to see Gray being hugged on the side of his arm with an boy Imp.
= NOT MY ART it is again a mysterious artist =
Gray could only groan as he stood up carrying the crying Imp and making him sit onto his shoulder since he was small enough to be there and Gray didn't seem to mind as he dust himself off and put the chair back and sat like nothing happened he then sigh as he face palm.
"Is this about your nightmare again Max?"
"Look I keep telling you Max I'm not dead... in this afterlife anyway... you know what I mean."
Gray said caressing the boy on the head trying to remove his anxiety. But the boy clearly wasn't calming down.
"I already made a promise to you, your dream will stay as a dream, not a reality."
He then grabbed the boy as if he was as light as a plushie and gently put him down on the floor and wiped Max's tears.
"Now be a good kid and go find Lollie and Daryl there in the fifth room. Our Master's reunion should be finished right about now."
Gray gently smiling at Max as Octavia was able to see his smile clearly thanks to the fact that his mask's mouthpiece was open. Max then waddled away going to the elevator, he then smiled and waved at Gray as he did the same.
"Sorry, about that he tends to be quirky when he wakes up."
Octavia couldn't help but smile at Gray on how well he handled a kid especially well. However, Octavia notices one more detail about the kid, one of the reasons, being so silent?
"Is he... a mute?"
Octavia couldn't help but ask Gray sliding his mouthpiece back.
"Unfortunately, yes. But, he wasn't born a mute..."
Gray replied, sighed as he continued.
"Let's just say... I found Max hiding under the rubble with his parents corpse hugging him probably their last attempt on protecting their son... Max is a survivor of the remains of a turf war, close to the west side, I was forced to go there because of some complications... Of course, any child would be traumatized by the fact that the last memories of your parents are their corpses hugging you. Even I did."
Every time Gray mentioned the kid's name Octavia swear she could hear the strain of his voice every time he continued, she couldn't help but tear up for the child after hearing all that.
"Fuck, that's.... damn... and here I thought my trauma was worse."
Octavia couldn't mutter any words for the child.
"You can't compare anyone's traumatic events, they all have the same effect. The only difference is how you handle it... either you let it hold yourself back, or heal yourself back together... and in his case I can only help him heal himself back together."
Gray spoke back as he grabbed his coat on the table and wore it again, as he took out a handkerchief and gave it to the tearing Goetia Demon.
"T-Thank you.... uhm, can I just ask? Who exactly is the owner of the place?"
Octavia asked, trying to change the subject, still wiping out her tears.
"Oh, her Majesty... yeah, sorry she kinda made it clear not to spoil it for you. Trust me she is scarier than any noble I have ever met... heck I even know Satan himself so that's saying something."
Gray said rubbing the back of his head. As suddenly an elevator rung from behind them as Gray suddenly felt two tall figures with three children that he knows pretty well he smiled.
"But, then again you won't have to linger around any longer."
He said as he quickly stood up using his Sonido appearing on the side entrance of the elevator.
Octavia couldn't help but look at the elevator with anticipation of who exactly Gray's Master, as soon the elevator door open Octavia's eyes-widen by the what she is witnessing, she saw a figure almost as tall as her father she wore a beautiful dress that is coated with a galaxy design on the inside coated with color dimly colored light blue having six eyes and long hair as she notice Octavia and smiled upon meeting her Granddaughter for the first time.
"HER MAJESTY QUEEN NOCTURNA OCTAVIA HAS ARRIVED! GREET HER HIGHNESS!"
"ALL GUEST MAY PROCEED TO THE FRONT ROOM!"
Gray's co-worker instructed the guest and servants as the guest slowly went to the front room at there were more space there that the first one while the servants moved the tables and chair on the side while a luxurious square table made of silver, with a bunch of blue crystals on its edges and four luxurious chairs with almost the same design as well, was being transported at the middle of the room.
"Right this way your Majesties."
Gray bowed and instructed them to follow Octavia, specifically Stolas' daughter was still sitting at the table. Stolas couldn't help but stifle a laugh at her daughter's reaction.
"Gray, you don't need to attend to your duties anymore. There won't be any rewards for your hard work so please just rest."
The Queen spoke in a polite manner as she felt bad for Gray to still continue his services even though he was somewhat fired and therefore won't be rewarded for his duties.
"I digress your Majesty, I do not care whether I'm paid or not. So I will not rest but continue my duties as a servant."
Gray calmly spoke back, having the one serve someone who funded and created the orphanage he always wanted is more than enough payment for him. The Queen then sighed but smiled at the kind servant.
"You really are the most kind yet stubborn servant I have ever met."
The Queen joked with a light giggle as Gray couldn't help but do so as well, they finally reached up to the table but before they sat at the chair they were waiting for a certain stoned Owlette still unable to realize that she was just sitting close by.
"Via, Come over here and meet your Grandmother."
Stolas yelled for her attention as she just did what her father asked. She stood up, walking in the direction of her father while looking at the ground, pressured by her first meeting Stolas' mother, she then stopped in the middle of her father and Grandmother. She then looked up at her eyes in awe at her beauty.
"Umm, it's a pleasure to finally meet you... Grandmo-
Before Octi, could finish her sentence she was suddenly hugged by her Grandmother who of course since was as tall as her dad required to kneel down to hug her normally as she then heard a sob from her, she then slowly began crying. Gray couldn't help but shed a tear at such a heartwarming moment he was of course happy for his wishes to meet up with her granddaughter to become a reality is really a touching moment for Gray, even Stolas tried to resist on crying as he then began caressing her mother's back.
"I have lost hope of meeting my own Granddaughter and Stolas.... but, to think that moment would arrived today I just can't be anymore grateful."
The crying Queen said all the Princess could do was return the hug.
After a few moments, they finally free each other from the hug as the Queen wipes her tears. Gray steps beside the Queen and reaches for her hand. She gladly agrees to his help to get up with as all four of them finally sit at the table after the Queen has finally calmed down. And Max holding a certain familiar kitsune jump on Gray's shoulder.
"My apologies for the sudden outburst..... We should probably talk first about the reason why both of you came all the way here... and since we're all alone here you can take off your mask now Gray."
The Queen suggested as she looked at Gray as she tapped face he understood and took off his mask.
"Yes, your Majesty."
Gray said grabbing at the top of his mask slowly being ripped into two as a certain Princess couldn't help but quickly gaze at Gray who would've thought he would be seeing what's behind his mask so quickly? As soon as Gray's face finally showed up the Princess couldn't help but blush at the sight of his face.
Stolas couldn't really blame her daughter for blushing as a face like that, as it's extremely rare especially on sinners. After all Gray still retains his human form, the only slight difference is his pale white skin, a black straight horn and his silver-black eyes and silver-gray hair with blue highlight. The Queen couldn't help but giggle at the two's reactions.
"See I keep telling you Gray your face is a weapon against the ladies even my Gay son couldn't help it. You should use it more often."
The two staring demons couldn't help but blush at that statement as the already blushing Princess was now practically a tomato. Gray could only sigh for the Queen's comment, he was used to it after all... He then cleared his throat in anger while looking at the Queen clearly not amused at the joke.
"You seriously need to lighten up sometimes Gray... Right, getting off track here, anyways! Stolas, this is Grayson Perez the Arcane Knight and one of if not the most loyal servant of all time."
The Queen introduced Gray and even spoke about one of his achievements.
"Yes, the infamous Gray,"
he said, rising from his seat, circling the boy examining him.
"I've heard quite a bit about you.
"All good things I hope,"
Gray answered nonchalantly as he was used to these kinds of stares and pressure, but he still was worried as he was his Master's son he was up against.
"That remains to be seen,"
""Stolas!/Dad!""
They both snapped.
"Be nice!"
His daughter replied
"That and the child can't exactly that kind of pressure as we both have the same ability."
His mother added and reminded him.
Quickly recovering from both of them chastising him, all Stolas could do was force himself to calm down. After all, Octi had the idea, it's not like he actually knew what this Gray character was like, so perhaps now would be the best time to find out.
"Sorry, fatherly instincts and all,"
he said, quickly diffusing the situation.
"You understand, yes?"
Stolas replied as Gray contemplated the word fatherly he then turned around to the three Imp kids playing around the area.... He did sort of had it after all he did take care of Daryl and Lollie since birth and now he has another one to take care of Max Gray smiled softly before answering again.
"I suppose I do."
Gray replied confidently Stolas couldn't help but look back at where he was looking and saw the three Imp kids playing. He sighed badly at himself for he completely regretted his actions because Gray was somewhat indeed a fatherly figure. His mother couldn't help but smile at Stolas' quick understanding.
"I apologies again for saying that let's get back to the topic."
Stolas spoke going back to his seat, Gray taking it as a sign of approval and was finally able to look at him eye to eye. Daryl on the other hand served the table with tea for the two adult demons and a dark chocolate for Gray and a white chocolate for Octi. He bowed and left, going back to play with the others.
"You don't seem to be intimidated by me young man,"
he pointed out.
"I have to say it makes for an interesting change. Most Demon would either be running away or pissing themselves at this point."
Gray rubbed his head while looking at the Queen.
"Uhh, should I tell him?"
Gray asked his Master who sighed knowing what he meant Stolas and Octi on the other hand were just confused.
"No, I'll tell him.... my son Stolas, please don't freak out but Gray is someone who once served the Seven Demon Lords of Hell."
Stolas, who was taking a sip from his cup of tea that was served to them earlier by Daryl, couldn't help but take another sip just so he could spit it on the floor.
"He's served the WHAT!?"
Gray couldn't blame the Prince's reaction as her mother casually dropping a nuke of information at his son. His daughter, however, wasn't so surprised and just looked at his father with disgust for spitting his tea. Lollie then went to her side holding a snake shaped gummy candy.
"Do you want some milady?"
Lollie asked her as she obliged, taking two pieces and eating them at the same time. Octi really needed that to lighten up her head from the alcohol she drank before even though it was light she still needed to eat something sweet. Lollie then bowed and went away playing again with Daryl and Max.
"So, it is true that the fourth Arcane Knight was not only a Sinner but was once a servant to each Demon Lords of every ring correct?"
Stolas asked only for Gray to nod at the Prince judgement.
"But, you disappeared four years ago!? Many Nobles believed you to be dead?"
"I indeed disappeared four years ago but that was because it was the day I started to be her Majesty's servant at that time."
