We're gonna be fine, so fine; Ain't no doubt about it
It's working out right, all right.

All I'm thinkin' 'bout is, How everything's gonna be okay
No complications in our way; It's fine, we're fine
Ain't no doubt about it

=Four years later=

You walked down the busy street, your low-heeled boots thudding against the concrete path as you pushed past fellow pedestrians, humming to yourself as you tighten your hold on your dog's leash. You grabbed your keys as you hopped up the steps of your apartment complex, unlocking the gated door and stepping inside with (pup name) at your heels. The gate automatically locked behind you and you made your way to the elevator, texting Evie you had made it back home safe and sound.

And she texted back a photo of her, Grace, and Lucy; all still out having fun, as they should-it was a Friday after all. You smiled at Lucy, seeing the pure happiness in her face and eyes; she had been quite happy to rejoin the mortal world and explore new York with you and Evie, even officially rejoining it as a mortal, thanks to you turning her human again(at her request). She had even moved into your old room at the apartment-considering you wouldn't need it anymore, thanks to Harrison.

You looked up as the elevator pinged and you stepped aside to let your neighbor out, nodding at her as she waved at you with a smile. You stepped inside the metal box and hit the button for your floor, leaning against the wall with (p/n) sitting between your legs. You adjusted your bag as the elevator arrived at your floor and put (p/n) in a heel, his leash held loosely in your hand.

You dropped the leash as you opened your apartment door, letting (p/n) rush off to find his 'dad'; stepping to the side to take off your shoes, closing the door behind you with your back and locking it. "Harry!" you called out, dropping your keys into your hand to free up your mouth; where your keys had been a moment before. "we're home!"

No answer, and you snorted, knowing exactly what he was doing. You set your boots aside, took off your jacket, and set it on the coat rack, smiling at the photos resting on the table below it; they were of your 'modern' wedding from three years back, and you couldn't be happier to hold his last name again, properly.

"Harry?" you called again, tossing your keys into the key bowl and making your way to the bedroom, softly calling out his name again before you found him on your shared bed, holding your hand over your mouth to stop yourself from squealing.

There he was, asleep; with your four-month-old snoozing away on his chest, Harrison's arms wrapped protectively around her. "That's so fucking cute" you muttered, taking a quick picture and sending it to the group chat, snickering as Evie and Lucy sent back so many heart-eye emojis.

You tip-toed over to your two favorite people in the world, getting up on the bed next to them and kissing (b/n)'s head and then Harrison's lips, smirking as he let out a small groan; his eyes fluttering open as you pulled away. "Good evening sleeping beauty" you whispered, giggling as he smiled up at you, a very cute dorky smile. You cupped his cheek, feeling the small amount of scruff under your palm as you rubbed his cheek. "Did you two have fun?"

"Yeah" Harrison grumbled, sitting up slowly, his arms keeping (b/n) safe and asleep "little one had an adventure today; we went to the farmers market," he yawned, his sharpened canines making themselves known "The-the uh-bird farm-she really liked the um-the uh" he snapped his fingers gently, still lost in the maze of sleep he had just exited a moment before "conures, the lil green ones-we should get one, by the way"

You shook your head at his rambling, taking your daughter from his grip and cradling her against your chest, sighing in slight relief as she stayed asleep. "We passed by the dog park too, and she was obsessed with this-lil pug that was just-a whole ass unit-(y/n) he was so chunky you wouldn't believe it-" you couldn't help but laugh, shaking your head and kissing his scruffy cheek, his head already starting to nod.

"Sounds like you two had a wonderful day, I'm sure she loved hanging out with her daddy, just like she always does" you half teased half praised him, he chuckled, a bright grin on his face; he tilted into your shoulder, resting his chin in the crook of your neck as you pushed your cheek to the top of his head "I love you" he mumbled, already starting to fall back asleep as (b/n) grumbled a bit, as it was dinner time for her; and her body always woke her up right on time.

"I love you too baby" you whispered back, kissing his forehead and sliding off the bed, taking (b/n) out of the room and towards the kitchen, getting her dinner out of the fridge and sticking it in the microwave to heat it up. Soon enough Harrison and (p/n) joined you in the kitchen, a set of strong arms wrapped around you, a chin resting on your shoulder; a soft tired smile on Harrison's lips "Can't stay away eh?" you teased, turning your head and pecking his lips, giggling as he hummed happily.

"Never" he muttered back; closing his eyes and holding you close, (p/n) threading between your sets of legs and laying down on the cold kitchen floor; happy to just have a calm moment with you and Harrison.

(b/n) started to whine, her pretty ocean-blue eyes peering up at you and her father, her mouth opening in a yawn to reveal her gums "hi pretty girl" Harrison whispered, reaching up and caressing her cheek-almost giggling as she grabbed his finger "fuck I love you so much"

He had been a wreck the day you told him you were pregnant, a dream the two of you had finally come to life; he had always wanted kids with you, hell-only a few days before-the incident-you had been talking about trying. And the day your little girl was born, he had collapsed by your bedside, his eyes near stars as he stared at his newborn daughter; the wee little thing crying away in the nurse's arms.

He had nearly hissed at another nurse who attempted to take (b/n) away to clean her up; he had waited 900 years for that moment, and he wasn't going to give her up so soon. With one look from you and Evie, he had pouted and handed the newborn over, following the nurse like a lost puppy to make sure his daughter was safe.

He was a wonderful father, something he had been so worried about during your months of pregnancy; with all he had done during your years of absence, Harrison was well-terrified he wouldn't be good enough for your child.

And over the last four months, he had proved himself completely wrong; he was probably the best dad in the world, so attentive, sweet, affectionate (to the both of you), and did everything he could to make sure both of you were comfortable as possible. Honestly, it just kinda made you want to jump him and make another, but that would wait until (b/n) was at least a year old, you did want 2 kids after all.

The microwave beeped, shaking you out of your thoughts. Harrison moved before you could, taking the bottle and shaking it up-making sure it wasn't too hot before gently giving It to (b/n); chuckling as she eagerly ate it up. "Hungry girl" he whispered, standing close to you, his bangs falling into his eyes. You hummed, cracking your neck a bit, feeling the scabbing marks on your lower neck that Harrison had fed from only two days before.

(p/n) whined from between your legs, pressing his cold snout to your leg. You chuckled, handing Harrison your daughter and grabbing (p/n)'s bowl "Okay okay, c'mon bubba, let's get your dinner" Harrison hummed a small lullaby, your lullaby, as he fed (b/n); her matching blue eyes staring into his as he rocked her back and forth while you fed (p/n). "There ya go you little fluff ball" you muttered, giving the pup a good scratch behind the ears and standing, walking over to Harrison and wrapping your arms around his toned waist. "I love you"

You said, pressing your ear to Harrison's back to feel the vibration of his voice, feeling him chuckle lightly as he continued to hum to (b/n). "if you love me, dilly dilly, I will love you" Harrison sang softly, turning in your arms and smiling at you, humming as you kissed him softly, then pecking (b/n)'s head. "Dork" you muttered, but it was sweet-using a lyric to answer your declaration of love.

He just chuckled, kissing the top of your head, moving to lean against the counter as your puppy and baby ate their dinners. It was quiet for a long moment, only the sound of (p/n) and (b/n) eating filling the white noise. "I like this" Harrison muttered, his eyes soft as he looked down at his daughter, something he never thought he would get the chance to have. You hummed, wondering what he meant.

"I like this life with you, I like the apartment, the cleaning, going on walks, having dinner that we both made, taking care of a dog, waking up at three am to change (b/n)'s diaper, falling asleep next to you, growing strawberries on our balcony; i...I like this- domesticness, I guess" Harrison mumbled, a fond smile on his lips "my life as a lord it...it got boring, very quickly-every day was the same, just a bleak repeating page. And now, now everything is different every day, every moment; and I love it"

He turned to you, almost crying at his revelation "I love this life with you, I like living in New York, I like just-being someone, another person can just-pass on by-I like being...normal" he ended in a whisper, he was far from normal; still a vampire-but with the help of a little spell-he had begun to age along with you, because death was no longer what he feared-instead it was being left behind.

He wanted to grow old with you, see his daughter grow up, to have silver in his hair and lines by his eyes as she faced life's challenges with her parents right behind her. To him-being normal wasn't-being mortal-it was to live, to experience.

And to do that-was to live his life with you, to grow with you, to watch his baby girl and any other future kids-grow up; someday they would be too pic for him to hold like this, but honestly-he couldn't wait.

Maybe one day you would reverse the spell, maybe one day you would both be human again. But that could wait, for now-you were the Deville's, the slightly odd couple on the top floor; known as the witch, and the vampire to the neighborhood kids. (you and Harrison had too much fun around Halloween).

Harrison smiled at the thought, closing his eyes and resting his head against yours as you held him close.

The witch and the vampire-what a perfect story.

And he couldn't wait to write more.

-end of once upon a December-

....ye, it's done-14 parts-and it's done. Thank yall for reading!

Notes; yes, Oliver is dead; Evie got her licks in with Grace, I would never deprive her of that right of kicking his dumbass white butt. (y/n) did officially break the blood pact between the families, and everyone is just-vibin in new York. Lucy gets to explore NY to her hearts content; as she deserves.

Idk, this is just-fully fluff with lots of dad Harrison because he deserves to be the dad he wanted to be. when I wrote that lil letter back in p8; I fully broke my own heart because man's had mentally picked out names n EVERYTHING.

I hope yall liked this, and liked how I did the ending; they do use the old castle as a summer home (they have plenty of money to refurbish it, it wasn't that badly damaged over the years anyway) but the manor is just-gone. That's a chapter of Harrison's life he never wants to return to.

Idk if there will be more Walter fics after this? this was the main idea that I had, but im happy I wrote it.

Okay, im done-again-thanks for reading!!
