The can fills to the top! Oozma Kappa's point tally beats the ROR house! Everyone goes wild. April jumps from her seat, left thunderstruck and shouting out a victory yell, not even caring if anyone hears her out or looks at her deadpanned. She can see from a side that Hardscrabble was watching, stunned.
"They did it! YEAHHHHHHH!!", the president of the Greek council could be heard shouting.
As April turns around to the sound of her loud voice, the president grabs the VP and pushes him over as she cheers wildly. Which makes her laugh, full of joy for the Oozmas. The crowd rushes the stadium, flying by the stunned ROR brothers. Johnny had his jaw dropped at the sight of the scores. Mike steps from the simulator, stunned as he realizes what has happened. The Oozma Kappas run to Mike, hoisting him on to their shoulders. The Oozma Kappas are celebrating, hugging each other. The brothers of Oozma Kappa then shake hands with fans and finish soaking up the moment. April runs wildly to them, pushing through the crowd and immediately grabbing Mike up and lifting him up in a hug, to his big surprise.
"Come here you! You made me so proud! I knew you could make it! All of you!", she shouted, small tears in her eyes.
Mike laughs at her reaction as she put him down, looking at the other Oozmas.
"We saw everything. You were terrifying!", she adds.
"Oh shush, you're going to embarrass us.", Terri starts.
"No, no, continue I like it.", Terry smirks.
April burst of laugh, hugging each one of the members of the team tightly, as the crowd still cheers and chants around them.
-
"It was so awesome, mom! If that was possible I would have brought you, dad and Andy to see the games with me! Oh my god....", April says still excited on a telephone of the dorms, having called her parents to tell these news.
"Oh, well I'm sure it must have been such fun. I'm happy that you enjoyed it.", the mother tells through the telephone call.
"Dean Hardscrabble just excluded two of them from the scaring program a few months ago. That was sick. And now they just have put her back into place. Amazing.", April tells.
"Aw, don't be rude with your director, April, please. I'm sure it was just a mistake of hers."
"No, I don't mean to be rude, but yet she was so confident of being right. And still, she has taken off the dream out of one of them. That's still rude. But anyway, I'm so happy for them all."
"You got the right to be, dear. Say them hello for me when you see them again, sweetie. I got to go now. I'm baking something right now and I need to control the oven right now."
"Aw, you baking something and I can't taste it?"
"Haha, don't worry April. We will reserve you a few pieces of it for when you come back home in the weekends, alright?"
"Okie. Good night, mom."
"Good night, little snake."
The telephone hangs up. The call is finished. April decides to take a walk around the campus, even though it is pretty late in the evening, just to take out some fresh air. She smiles at herself, content and serene about Mike and Sulley. Finally they are back in the program, happily. They can now achieve what they came here for. Sulley has become less over proud of himself and now dedicated to learning, while Mike has finally proven that he can be a true scarer after all.... but something is a bit strange about April. She sure feels happy for Sullivan and Wazowski.... but they have progressed on something and she feels as if she hasn't yet so far. Even if she became less afraid of people and lightly more open, she feels as if she was stuck on something. And it wasn't just about her interactions towards the RORs, Johnny, the Dean, her brother's sepsis.... She just can't figure out what yet. But she knows there is something that keeps her stuck. April thinks deeply about it, frowning down at herself, as she tries to know what bothers her or what it is that gives her the feeling that she hasn't really changed as much positively like Mike or Sulley.
Snap. Her thoughts are brushed away by voices. Voices talking on a corner. Loud voices. April turns her head in direction of the voices, to notice Johnny with his fraternity team.... around Randall. Johnny is apparently the loud one, while Randall seems to try to say some things but gets cut through the words. April walks slowly towards the group, as discrete as possible, hiding behind a tree to hear out.
"Just tell me something Boggs. What was all of that for?! Do you have any idea what that has cost us?", Johnny shouts outraged, still pretty angry at Randy's performance.
"I'm really sorry guys. Really. I just lost my balance. I was doing my best to-", Randall stutters, before getting cut out again.
"Your best?! Here in the Roar Omega Roar fraternity, the best you need to do is do better than what you do! Look where you brought us. Such a small insignificant fraternity won against US."
"I'm sorry....", Randall sniffs
"That won't save you, Boggs! You already messed up!", Chet starts scowling.
"Chet....", Johnny tells him, looking sternly at him.
"Sorry....", Chet lets out, retreating.
Johnny turns back to Randall, glaring.
"I am usually not the type to get angry at anyone, but right now I think I found an exception. Which, sorry to say, is you.", he starts, making Randall tremble a bit.
April also looks shocked to the scene, not knowing what she has to do. She wants to help Boggs, but she feels frozen by the shocking moment.
"We have chosen you to be in our team for these scare games. If you wanted to stay by us, all you had to do was act like a ROR. And not cover yourself of hearts. We needed you just for these events, but trust me, if you would have impressed me, you would have stayed with us. Too bad.", Johnny ads, removing the fraternity shirt off from Randall's body, "You are pretty lame after all...."
As he said this, he starts walking away, irritated, with his fraternity brother who all glare out at the chameleon. Randall is left alone, sad and desperate. He just got thrown out by the ones he thought where the cool kids. He can feel his heart boiling. That because.... Sullivan is the one who caused his failure. Or so he likes to think. April, having seen too much of the scene, decides to walk towards her friend to talk to him. But he suddenly starts rushing away on his four limbs, as if he heard April out and didn't want to talk.
"Boggs!", April calls out, in vain, seeing him disappear.
She groans, giving up and turning away.
"Why do people never stop when I call after them....", she mumbles, determined to catch him when she spots him next time for sure.
April takes a walk around the campus, not feeling tired yet and having some time before curfew. After what took a little while of wandering around, she spots Dean Hardscrabble up the stairs of the scare building with next to her Professor Knight and in front of both.... Sullivan? Like the discrete, sneaky, little nosey being she is, she approaches just a small bit, hearing out what the conversation was about. And apparently it isn't a very calm and happy one.
"You did what?", Hardscrabble asks, scandaled.
"My team had nothing to do with it, it was all me...I cheated.", Sulley explains.
April gasps. She doesn't know on what he cheated or how, but that was the least she expected of him at this far point. She stares at him, widen eyed, shocked, with a hand on her mouth, covering it.
"I expect you off campus by tomorrow.", Hardscrabble scowls.
Sulley hangs his head accepting his fate.
"Yes ma'am."
"You're a disgrace to this University...and your family name.", she adds.
On the other side of the campus, April can see the Roar Omega Roar walking away with a fraternity jacket of theirs, disappointed. Have they heard the conversation too? Was this jacket destined back to Sullivan? So many questions are bubbling in her mind, yet she feels too shocked right now to think on those. What a shame that this revelation is the least of the shock she has gained right now. Why? Suddenly, an alarm sounds on campus. A security guard is running by....
"What's going on?", Hardscrabble asks to them in confusion.
"Someone broke into the door lab!", they screamed in panic.
"What?!"
Hardscrabble flies off immediately.... Sulley watches her fly towards the door tech building. April, after hearing that out, immediately runs in direction of the lab. She runs right past the RORs, who have noticed the commotion around the campus, but yet haven't understood the emergency and simply are walking towards their house. Johnny has noticed her sudden rush, staring at her as she is running madly along with a large crowd which is forming around the lab building. He sighs, trying to forget their latest conversation and exchanges, ignoring her.... for now. April reaches the building, pushing through the crowd and taking the opportunity to get some information.
"Who broke in?", she reaches to a student.
"I think it's one of the Oozma Kappa. It's messed up!", they shouted through the panic.
"Which one?"
"I think it's the small green guy with one eye."
Now it dawns on her. She realizes who it is by the description.
"Oh no....", she whispers to herself as she pushes harder past the crowd to get faster inside the lab and reach to Mike, "Mike! Mike! Where are you? Come back!"
She starts calling out as she was in. She can notice the crowd in front of the very small door testing room, clutching against the closed entrance, getting more agitated. There are also security guards right in front of them.
"Oh my Gosh!!"
"He entered in!!"
"Someone take him out!!!"
April gasps, stopping herself from passing through. She stares frozen in direction of the testing room, knowing now that Mike is inside this small door who knows why. She hold the sides of her head with her big hands, panicking for her friend and not knowing what to do.
"Calm down everyone! We got this!", one of the security guards exclaims to the crowd.
April can't take it any longer. She runs now out of the building, in need of fresh air and space. She lets herself fall on her knees as she was out. She sees the Oozmas running to the lab too, in panic.
"Is Mike okay?", Don calls out.
"He.... He....", April tries to find words, not knowing how to tell this horrible news, "He's in the human world...."
The Oozmas gasp.
"We got to get him out!", Squishy yells in panic.
"You alright April?", Art asks to her as he can see she was staring now on the ground, breathing hard.
"Let her space. She'll be fine if we leave her take these news calmly.", Don says.
"T-Thanks....", April lets out.
Don and his companions run inside the lab to get to their friend Mike. April couldn't believe it. First, Sulley cheated in the games, second, Mike has erupted in the human world. And who knows if both these news are connected. April wishes she could help, but how can she help in this state in her mind and just right here in the monsters world when he is to the other side? Many thoughts and questions are blowing in her mind as panic is starting to form a knot in her stomach. She enlaces her arms around her stomach, feeling useless through this situation. Sullivan is running past her to get in the lab, but he can't handle but worry about the look on her face. Right now, he wishes to repair his mistakes with Mike, maybe later, he can talk with her about it. As he disappeared in the building, April can hear a scoff. She looks aside and can see Randall Boggs staring at Sullivan, with crossed arms and a displeased expression towards him.
"Randall?", April calls out.
Randall turns his head to her, his expression blank on her and shrugging.
"No need to worry about it. Maybe taking a walk in the human world will change their ideas a bit.", he says, starting to walk away.
April frowns in confusion as she stands up immediately.
"Stop.", she commands sternly.
This time, Randy hears out and stays still, his back turned to her.
"What's wrong with you? Why this sudden mood? And why are you so indifferent about them when Mike actually left the monster world to go to the one of the humans?", she asks.
"You know why. Haven't you seen the screens on the last Scare Games event?", he asks.
"Yeah. So?"
"It's Sullivan's fault I failed. I lost my chances with the RORs, and now look at me. I'm back to being seen as lame. I'm an incompetent joke. But that will change, you'll see. Well, at least if Mike gets out of here alive and if Sullivan doesn't try anything stupid this time."
"Just what does this have to do with Mike being trapped in THE HUMAN WORLD?!", she starts shouting, slowly getting irritated by his attitude, "Mike is down there, and there are few chances he might get out alive! It's a dangerous world! And all you find out to do is just shrugging at me and complaining about Sulley?!"
"Wazowski is in his team, and I'm sure he took a like to him too. What? Are you on their side too now? I thought you were better than that, come on."
"That is not the point!"
"Or it is. You stopped being on my side since I have decided to get in the team with the Roar Omega Roars. Everyone always does the same with me. They always leave me behind when they got the chance or an excuse for it."
"Hey, I'm not the one who decided to be in the snob team and throw paint and plushies on someone else! Stop with this attitude Randall! This is not the moment for this!
"Whatever. We aren't friends anymore so expect us to be rivals now. Enjoy worrying about the beach ball and the fur pellet, Slyther.", Randall finally says as he starts walking away calmly.
Few tears start forming on April's eyes. She just lost one of her friends. A friend who was so sweet and gentle who just now transformed into a huge jerk. And not only towards her. This day couldn't go any worse now, could it? April starts walking slowly away from the building's sight, sobbing a bit from full negative emotions. It was all too much for her. And yet she only wishes for Mike to come back safely. Maybe this could cheer her up. All she can do for that yet.... is wait.
