"Where do we start?" Finnick asked as soon as we stepped into the training centre. We were the first ones there, so we had the entire room to ourselves.

"I need to practice my aim. I'll get a bow and quiver, you can do play with the tridents." I replied.

"Let's make it more interesting." He went over to the edible plants section and picked up a fruit which was the size of an apple. Smirking at what he was planning on doing, I grabbed a basket full of those fruits and the two of us made our way to the weaponry section. "I'm throwing first." He said.

"Fine." I stood in front of a big target and placed the fruit on top my head. "You know it is against the rules for a tribute to kill another tribute before the actual games?" I said.

"I'll try not to." He smirked. He grabbed a spear and stood around 20 feet in front of me. "Ready?" He asked and I squeezed my eyes shut and nodded. He threw the spear and it narrowly missed the top of my head, hitting the fruit at the bottom. My eyes widened at how close the spear was to my head.
Finnick was grinning and I narrowed my eyes at him as the juice from the fruit dripped down my head.

"You won't be grinning soon, Finny boy. Your turn. Grab a fruit." He took one and placed it on his head before standing in front of the target, his spear now lying on the ground. I grabbed a few daggers and took my stance. I aimed for the fruit and released the weapon. It missed the top of the fruit by just a few centimetres. I groaned in frustration and Finnick started to laugh.

"You missed! Boohoo! Wh-What are you doing? (Y/N)!! STOP!!" He had lifted his hand to grab the fruit, but at that moment I took aim and let the dagger fly. It hit the fruit when it was in his hand, causing it to splatter everywhere, including on his face. The dagger hit the target right beside his neck. A few inches towards the left and he would be dead.

I smirked with victory and gave a little bow. Wiping the fruit off of his face, Finnick looked at me with annoyance. We both then started to actually practice our aims without putting eachother's heads on the line. The doors opened and the other tributes came in. The careers immediately began showing off their combat skills while the morphlings were busy in the camouflage section. Then Katniss and Peeta entered the room and began to take in their surroundings. I nudged Finnick and nodded towards the two. He gave a smirk and threw a trident at the target with so much force that it pierced through it.

I walked around the room, bored. Wanting to do something fun, I grabbed a small block of wood and sat down on the floor. I took my dagger out and began to carve a fish hook. I looked up to see Finnick talking to Katniss. He knotted a noose and put it around his neck and pretended to hang himself. Everdeen's face remained unamused.

Letting out a scoff at Finn's stupid behaviour, I began weaving the hook with some thread. I smiled, thinking about the time when Mags, one of the sweetest people I had ever met in my life, taught me how to make a fish hook and how to decorate it, as a bait for the fish.

A while after intricate weaving, I felt someone was watching me. Looking up, I saw Katniss Everdeen standing there with a small smile. "That's beautiful." She said and I smiled. "I saw you volunteer for that young girl. It was really brave."

"I had to. She means a lot to me. Besides, you volunteer for your sister. What is her name?" I asked.

"Prim." She replied in a soft voice. "If you could uh, teach me how to make a fish hook like that I could teach you how to hunt."

"I know a little hunting myself." I shrugged. "But I do want to see the girl on fire use a bow and arrow." I said, a smile playing on my lips.

"Okay." She said. The both of us went to a small chamber where we had to defend ourselves from holograms that attacked us. "Here I go." She said and stepped into the chamber. A lot of the other tributes had gathered around as Katniss breezed through the course. Wiress started clapping enthusiastically as soon as Katniss finished. "Nice job!" I said when she came out.

"Thank you!" She said, out of breath.

"The other tributes better watch their backs in the arena." I winked and walked along with Finnick out of the room, as the training session had come to a close for the day.

"How did it go? Did you befriend them?" Newt asked.

"I know I didn't." Finnick smirked. "I tied a noose around my neck and asked her to take me for a walk." We hooted with laughter at Finnick's dirty mind.

"All jokes aside, you really need to make friends with her." Newt said, recovering from his fit of laughter.

"Well I did. I think she trusts me to some extent." I said.

"Alright, I'll tell Haymitch. Meanwhile, you lot prepared for tomorrow's private session."

"Alright." The both of us chimed together with a sigh, not really caring about the session.

The next day all 24 tributes were put into a room, everyone waiting for their chance to present their skills. The nervousness in the room was palpable, but Finnick and I were talking about anything and everything and didn't give a damn about the judgement we recieved. Johanna looked at us longingly, wanting to join the conversation, but couldn't as district 7 tributes sat a few rows behind 4. Not long after, a voice rang through the intercom, "Finnick Odair, district 4." Smiling widely, he kissed the top of my head and went into the room to showcase his talent.

I began tapping my leg against the floor, slightly bored. I looked around at the remaining tributes. The morphlings looked like they would drop dead any moment if they didn't get their daily dose of morphine. Johanna and her district partner Blight, were having a quarrel.
I looked towards the back and saw that Katniss was staring at me. Like a deer caught in headlights, Her eyes widened and she turned away quickly.

Smirking to myself I turned back around and at that moment the voice spoke through the speakers,
"(Y/n) (l/n), District 4." I stood up and walked through the doors and into the room where Plutarch Heavensbee stood on the balcony with the other Capitol snobs. Finnick was about to leave through the door on the other side of the room, when he turned around and his sea green eyes met mine. Pain. I saw pain and sadness in his eyes. A cut ran across his cheekbone, below his eye. He gave a small, forced smile and winced slightly. I stared at him, wondering what had happened during his session.

I felt angry. Angry that my best friend was hurt, all because of the stupid Capitol. Because of Snow. The pain in his eyes fueled a rage inside me and I let all my emotions break through. All those years of following the rules set by Snow who killed with no mercy had made me mad. When Finnick closed the door behind him, Plutarch said, "You may begin, miss (Y/n)."

Snow wants me to show my talent? I'm going to show who I really am. For all those who he hurt. For my parents. For Stephanie. For Annie and Finnick. For Newt. For ruining my life with the games.

I went over to the weapons and grabbed a quiver full of arrows and swung it around my shoulder. Taking a long silver bow in my hands, I aimed an arrow towards the roof and released it into the air. It shattered one of the lights. In the same manner, I destroyed 3 of the 9 light panels, making the left side of the room dark. I grabbed a few daggers and went over to the other side and threw them with a lot of force at the other lights. Now only 3 remained in the centre of the room. I grabbed two spears and looked up. The sponsors and Plutarch were looking with a horrified expression. I threw a spear and it struck the panel with a loud crack, followed by the sound of the shattering of glass. I did the same with the other. One light panel was left and I was directly beneath it. Talk about spotlight. I sneered at the sponsors and snobs and walked out of the room, not another word was spoken. I swiftly walked down the corridors to the elevator and went up to the 4th floor. I slammed the door shut behind me which made Finnick and Newt who were sitting on the couch jump. Newt was attending Finnick's cut with some ointment.

"What happened?" He asked as I sat down on the sofa across them.

"I think I should ask you that." I nodded towards Finnick.

"I'm fine really. Just.... hurt my self while throwing a trident." He mumbled, wincing when Newt applied the medicine. Somehow, I knew that wasn't the whole story.

"What did you do in your session, (Y/n/n)?" Newt asked, standing up with the first aid kit after he finished dressing Finnick's wound up.

"Imighthavedestroyedallthelightsintheroom." I said in one go. Newt dropped the medical-kit while Finnick whipped his head around so fast he might have gotten a whiplash. Both of them exclaimed in unison, "WHAT?!"

"I was pissed!" I tried to reason. "I dunno what happened.... I just lost control over my emotions."

"What did they say?" Newt asked, his eyes still wide.

"Nothing. They were shocked. I just walked out of the room after that."

"(Y/n), this could be bad. What if Snow does something? What if it interferes with the plan?" Finn asked.

I didn't reply. We all just waited in silence, wondering what to do next. Nat and Dyl came into the room and we narrated the whole story to them. Nat looked positively horrified and let out a small scream. Dylan however let out a sigh and said, "We'll have to wait for the results and see what happens."

Later that evening, the results of the training session was announced. Caesar Flickerman announced the name of the tribute, which district they are from and their scores. When it was Finnick's turn, all of our eyes were glued to the TV.

"Finnick Odair, district 4, with a score of 10." Finn let out a sigh and I patted his shoulder. Now it was my turn. "(Y/n) (l/n), district 4, with a score of 11. Impressive."

I was confused. Why would they give me a score of 11 when I literally attacked the Capitol? This had only happened once before, with Katniss Everdeen. No one knew what she did for her session in the 74th hunger games, but she too got an 11, the first person to do so.

All eyes were on me as Caesar Flickerman moved onto the other tributes. "What just happened?" Natasha voiced out ALL of our thoughts.

"Maybe they gave her a high score so that the other tributes would target her. I bet they're gonna do the same thing with Katniss again. Maybe a 12 this time." Newt said. Finnick nodded in agreement.

A few minutes later, Caesar announced the scores of district 12. Peeta's was a surprise, but Katniss's score was predictable. The both of them got an impossible 12.

After all the scores were announced and the Capitol's anthem played, Dylan stood up before saying, "Well, that's that. I better get your outfits ready for tomorrow's interview."

"Please make sure everything is covered." Finnick said, which made us all laugh, clearing the tension up.
