Name: Luna Rivers

Appearance: Light skin, above average height and proportionally she's slightly above average weight. She has hazel eyes that are roundish and she usually wears a bit of eyeliner. Teal-blue hair that kind of puffs out at her shoulders and goes down a few more inches, two strips of her hair are brushed in front of her ears. She strives for good posture and but sometimes finds it hard not to run into things because of her height and sometimes just bends over a bit. Usually she wears a gold band that wraps around her head, it's a kind of advanced technology for their world designed to calm people down. She also wears a dark purple hoodless cloak that goes down to her ankles and has a jagged bottom.

I'm not quite sure whether irregular colored hair is common or uncommon in this universe- 

Goals: Getting a good job (which she has but isn't completely happy with), and living up to her parents expectations (not quite but they're fairly accepting)

I'm curious as to how the light manipulation works. 

Weaknesses: Crowds, people pleaser, can lack common sense, socially awkward, fighting in the dark

Personality: Luna is generally a kind and dependent person. She's a total people pleaser and changes herself for other people. She developed that certain trait from her parents knowing exactly what they wanted for Luna and her trying her best to do what they wanted. Finds it hard to refuse people, wants to learn how to be more independent. Ambitious but only works towards her goals when she lets herself have the time.

She rarely ever gets a full night of sleep, and burns herself out in the process. Back in school she would work twice as hard as everyone else and took pride in being better than other people, but at the same time she was ashamed of feeling that way and as a result tried not to share her personal accomplishments with others and the lack of social interaction would make her feel upset as well. She pushes herself too hard and doesn't want people to think of her as lazy or unaccomplished, so she keeps trying to reach her goals and keeps on failing because she never lets herself reach them.

Backstory:

So her parents are very... traditional and a little controlling. They want wants best for Luna and they think they know exactly what that is.

Well, most parents would want the best for their kids, but I think they should take their kid's opinion first, not just push their beliefs onto the child. 

So Luna grew up with a life set up for her and very limited freedom. It all went well until the end of Prime. (in this world you go to two schools, Primary or Prime where you learn normal school stuff mainly physics and a lot of scientific stuff, and Final or Fine school at 16 where you basically learn magic. A kind of, learn the rules before you break them system.)

Pretty interesting universe. 

By this time Luna had realized she was Bi for quite some time but never came out because she knew her parents had planned a life for her and wouldn't accept a queer child. She had one friend who she would openly talk about things with, Will, who has very similar experiences. He managed to convince her to come out and go to whatever Fine school she wanted, not just her parents choice.

Yes. Just yes. 

Her parents had extremely mixed feelings, still wanting the best for her, but also having their dream child basically disappearing. They eventually just accepted it though and moved on.

Phew. That's good! 

Luna practiced light manipulation for 10 years until she got her job and decided to finish school because of schedule conflicts and also because she believed she didn't need it anymore.

She met Sydney and reconnected with Will, and that's about it for backstory.

Light manipulation - Uh, controlling light in a way. Drawing light from one source and transferring it to another. (A lot of "magic" has some sort of explanation.) Has a staff that helps her control it.

Ohhh. That's interesting! Does everyone have a separate superpower? If so, how do the teachers train them if they don't understand their powers? 

Jackson and Amara - Two of her friends I forget to mention, they're twins and Luna liked both of them at one point.

Nice. 

I personally really like this OC because it made me think of a character in one of my favorite games. It was interesting to see how Luna broke free of her parents' controlling grip, and really made me root for her. 

However, I feel like it would match her personality if she was a bit ditsy, and can be airheaded at times. 

Apart from that, she's pretty good!
