Have you ever realized a good idea was actually a very bad idea the next morning? Not that you didn't enjoy what happened, you were quite happy with that part. The problem was that you'd fallen asleep. You didn't intend to, but well, you'd exhausted yourself.

The sharp ring of your phone was the only thing that managed to finally wake you up. Someone was calling, so you reached out blindly for your bedside table to grab the phone, only to come up empty. Your sleep-clogged brain took a minute to remember that you were not in your own bed, but in fact, still in the hospital.

You bolted upright and looked around. Sunlight was streaming through the window of the tiny room you'd locked yourselves in. Izuku had curled himself around your waist, trying to nuzzle closer to you.

"Izuku." You shook his shoulder. "Get up, we gotta go!"

He moaned and buried his face further into you. "Why?"

You threw the covers off and jumped out of bed, searching for your scattered clothes, slipping them on as you went. "Because this isn't a hotel! I could get into so much trouble if they caught us. Come on!"

Izuku lifted his head, squinting at you. "What time is it?"

Based on the amount of sunlight coming through the window, way too late. You rifled through your coat pocket and found your phone. It was almost a quarter to ten, the place would be bustling by now. There were also a few missed calls from Inko.

"Get your pants on," you tossed them at his head. "Your mom's been calling."

That got him going. He got up and dressed. "I can't believe I forgot about her."

You were trying to fix the rat's nest that was your hair in the mirror. There wasn't much you could do with your fingers so you stuffed your hair into your knit cap and hoped for the best. "You didn't forget. You were just...preoccupied." You turned to him, staring at his hair. It looked like a cow licked the side of his head. "You gotta call her, tell her we're on our way home."

He nodded, pulling his jacket on. You ran your hands through his curls, trying your best to tame them. They were stubborn so you licked your palm and tried to flatten them. It didn't really work, but it was better than before.

Once the two of you were semi-presentable, you cracked the door open and peeked into the hall. The good thing about this section of the hospital was that it was closed for maintenance, which meant no patients or doctors should bother you. But with your luck, someone would turn the corner any minute.

Izuku poked his head above yours, glancing around. "Clear?"

"Yeah." You both snuck into the hallway. "Pull up your hood." You tugged on the sweatshirt under his jacket. "I don't wanna get stopped."

You both exited the wing as unsuspiciously as you could, merging into the traffic of the hospital. So far, no one had noticed. He was just another visitor, like everyone else.

"Midoriya?" You flinched and turned to the voice.

"Oh, Naizen." You sighed, glad it was a friend and not a foe. "You scared me."

He leaned on the supplies cart he was pulling and cocked his head. "What are you still..." He glanced at Izuku who was staring at the ground, hands pushed deep into his pockets, trying very hard to hide his red face. "Were you, did you, wh-"

"This is not a good time Nai." You tried to hide the blush creeping across your cheeks.

He looked between the two of you and his own face flushed too. "Oh my go-"

"Don't say a word." You hissed, glancing around.

He held up his hands, a slight smirk on his face. "I didn't say anything."

"And you won't," you poked his chest. "Right?"

He pulled a finger up to his mouth. "My lips are sealed." He threw a thumb behind him. "But I wouldn't go that way if I were you. Just saw Mr. Nobusuke."

Your eyes widened. Mr. Nobusuke was the head of the Emergency Department. A.K.A. your boss. "Not a word Naizen." You said before you backpedaled and dragged Izuku away with you.

"Alright," he called after you. "But you owe me one now!"

You ducked into the nearest stairwell. Not many used it with the elevator so close. It was quiet inside, the small shuffles echoed as Izuku quickly shut the door and leaned on it. You leaned against the wall and looked at him. It was silent for a minute before you both burst out laughing.

After you caught your breath, you leaned into him, burying your face into his chest. "Oh my god, Naizen is gonna hold this over me forever."

He chuckled and wrapped his arms around you, gently swaying from side to side. "I'm sorry."

You peeked up at him, a mock frown on your face as you stared into his deep green eyes. "You don't sound sorry."

He stole a quick kiss from you. When he pulled away, you grabbed the hood around his head and pulled him back in for a heavy kiss. He drew you in closer until you were pressing against him. His pocket buzzed and you reluctantly broke away so he could fumble for it.

"Oh, it's my mom." He cringed. "She's gonna be upset with me." He held the phone out to you. "She never gets mad at you, you should talk to her."

"No way." You shoved the phone back. "Man up and talk to your mother."

His eyes darted between you and the phone. This man could face off against the scariest villain and not bat an eye but was terrified of his mother's wrath. He took a deep breath before finally answering.

"Uh, hi mom."

You could hear her raised voice as she scolded him for running out in the middle of the night with little to no explanation and for ignoring all her calls. He sighed and nodded, rubbing his neck. After a few long minutes of lecturing, he finally got a word in.

"I'm sorry, we got caught up in...business, but we're on our way back." He paused listening. "Yeah, she's with me. We're fine. We'll be home soon." After making a few more apologies and promises to come straight home he hung up and rubbed his face. "It feels like I'm back in high school all over again. I think she forgets that I'm an adult sometimes."

"You never grow up in your parent's eyes." You made kissy noises and pinched his cheeks. "You'll always be her little baby."

He rolled his eyes and grabbed your hands, tugging you in for another kiss, effectively shutting you up. You giggled through the kiss and wrapped your arms around his neck.

His phone rang again and he broke away with a sigh, looking down at it. "It's Kacchan. I've got to take this." He answered, listening for a moment before nodding. "That's good. We're actually nearby, we'll head over." When he hung up, he grimaced. "Um, so good news."

"He's awake, isn't he?"

A nod.

"And you want to go see him?"

Another nod.

"Right now?"

"I mean, we are already here." He shrugged.

You looked through the small window, watching the occasional person passing by. What you really wanted was to go home, take a nice hot shower, and get in some fresh clothes. But, of course, he was right. Kirishima was your friend and you did want to check up on him, especially since you were the one who treated him.

"Okay, okay, fine," you relented. "But I at least need to freshen up. My locker isn't too far from here. Go on without me, I'll catch up."

"You don't have to stay honey, I know you're tired." He said. "Take the car and go home. I'll catch a ride with the others."

"No, we are here now and I want to see him too."

He nodded and pulled you in for another quick kiss. "We won't stay long. I just need to ask him a few questions."

'Only a few questions' for Izuku was like asking an alcoholic to only have one drink. It just wasn't possible. You agreed anyway and straightened your clothes before heading down to the first floor, making a stealthy exit from the stairwell. Izuku went left while you went right.

It didn't take long to get to the Change Room where your locker was stored. Everything was exactly how you left it. You had come at a good time too, between shift changes, so it was unlikely someone would come in. That didn't mean you wanted to linger. A quick brush through of your hair and teeth along with some pampering to places that needed it, and you were good to go.

On your way back to the E.R. you didn't see Haru or any of the other night shifters. They must have already gone home, which was good for you, another run-in with him now would spell disaster. When you neared Kirishima's room, you heard voices trailing out the open door, all of which you recognized.

"Hey Y/N!" Kirishima was the first to see you enter. He looked so much healthier and a lot less feral. "We were wondering when you'd show up!"

The others looked at you. Bakugo eyed you up and down, scoffing, but thankfully didn't say anything. That guy was way too observant for his own good. Ochaco was standing next to him, smiling at you. Momo and Shoto were also in the room, on the other side of the bed. Shoto looked at his shoes and Momo elbowed him. Izuku was at the foot of the bed but turned to greet you. You walked over and stood next to him, hoping you didn't look as ridiculous as you felt.

"Y/N!" Ochaco came over and grabbed your arm. "He told us you were here somewhere!"

Momo walked over too. "Are you feeling well?" She brushed some strands of stray hair out of your face. "I heard you were helping last night? Did you end up getting any sleep at all?"

"Uh, I-" You glanced at Izuku, but he busied himself with his jacket cuffs. "I just need some coffee is all." You prayed your face wasn't burning because it sure felt on fire.

They took that as an acceptable answer and Izuku cleared his throat. "Okay, so now that everyone's here, Kirishima, we need to know what you remember."

Kirishima dropped his smile. "Uh, well, honestly man, I don't remember a whole lot. It's sort of fragmented." He scrunched his face in thought. "I just, I remember being so angry. I don't think I've ever felt so angry before in my life. It was like the only thing I could feel in the moment."

"Were you in control at all?" Izuku asked.

"No, I don't even remember what I did. I just remember the feeling...if that makes sense." He looked up suddenly. "I didn't hurt anyone did I?"

"No." Izuku assured him.

He sighed and leaned back into the pillows. "God, what even was that stuff. I've got a killer headache."

"We think it's some sort of variant sibling of Trace, but a lot more potent." Izuku looked to Bakugo. "Did Kabuki say anything to you about it?"

Bakugo crossed his arms. "That we would be a good test run."

"So now there's a more dangerous drug out there. One that makes you lose control." Momo surmised. "And now he's testing it on people."

"The most dangerous thing is how it affects quirks." You spoke up.

They all turned their attention to you. You shied away, feeling very out of place in their little discussion. They were heroes and you were not. Embarrassment took over and you shut down, picking at your nails.

"What do you mean?" Momo asked.

They were waiting for you to explain. It felt dumb to be so shy, they were your friends after all, but you couldn't help it. You had never been involved in their cases before, not like this.

"Uh, well, with Kirishima's quirk for instance." You looked at him. "I don't think you could control it. It activated and deactivated at random. But, um, if someone like Bakugo had been dosed-"

"The consequences would be far greater." He finished.

"This isn't good," Ochaco whispered. "He could easily pull a mass attack. The drug was powdered, right? That could spread easily, the fallout would be unimaginable."

The others were quiet for a moment, letting that thought sober them. You walked over to Kirishima's bed and pointed to the chart. "You mind?"

"Go for it doc." He shrugged.

"You know I'm not a doctor right?" You eyed him as you picked up the chart.

"Ah," He waved his hand. "You're better than any doc I ever had."

You hummed and looked through his blood results. His newest one, taken an hour ago, seemed normal. That couldn't be right. You scanned through them again, frowning. The drug was almost non-existent, which was unusual, highly unusual. If you didn't live in the world you lived in, you would almost say impossible.

"Uh, what's unusual?" Kirishima interrupted your thoughts.

You looked up. Everyone was staring at you again. You must have been thinking aloud, a weird habit you seemed to have picked up from Izuku after all these years.

"Uh, the blood, it's normal." You lowered the chart.

"That's good though, right?" He cocked his head. "I want normal blood."

"It's good." You agreed. "It's just strange. Drugs like this don't usually vanish overnight. More like they never vanish overnight. Even Trace stays in the system long after use."

"So what does that mean?" He looked worried now.

You set the chart back in the slot. "I don't really know. I would recommend you stay for more observation, just so we don't run into any unforeseen consequences."

"Ah, Y/N, I know you love hospitals, but me..."

"It's your choice." You held your hands up. "But whatever you decide, you should have someone monitor you for at least the next 24 hours."

He groaned. "A babysitter?" Then his eyes lit up and he turned to Bakugo. "Dude, we could have a bro's night!"

"No." He said stubbornly.

"I'm thinking some pizza, some beers, and games."

"No alcohol for you." You said.

"Okay, pizza and games." He corrected.

"You're out of your damn mind if you think that's happening," Bakugo growled.

"Alright, so that's taken care of." He turned back to the others. "I'm in good hands."

"Hey spikes for brains," Bakugo yelled. "I never agreed to this!"

They went back and forth with each other. It was like watching a dog try to play with a very pissed-off cat. The others waved goodbye and filed out of the room, leaving them to bicker. You shut the door, but that did little to drown out Bakugo's voice.

"Oh man," Ochaco sighed next to you. "I'm glad everyone's okay."

"Yeah." You nodded. Behind you, Izuku had pulled Shoto to the side and talked quietly with him. "I'm getting coffee."

"That sounds good, mind if we join?" Momo asked. "I could go for some tea myself."

The three of you ended up in the hospital cafeteria where the kitchen staff came out to greet you. You made a point when you first started working here to get to know all the staff members, especially the ones people seemed to toss in the background. You made a lot of good friends that way, and it never hurt that they would sometimes save you the last slice of cake, or give you free coffee.

You sat on one of the benches near the large glass windows that covered the atrium and people-watched. It was drafty in the atrium, the cold morning air filtering through the revolving doors as people came and went. The coffee felt nice in your hands as you breathed in the steam. The smell of freshly brewed coffee always seemed to calm you down.

"Are you alright?" Momo asked next to you. "You must have had an exhausting night."

You dipped your face into the coffee so she couldn't see the blush on your cheeks. It was definitely an exhausting night, just not for the reasons she thought. "Uh, yeah. I just think I need a date with my pillow right about now."

The girls laughed. It became contagious and a giggle spilled out of your lips. You drew attention to yourself with your laughter and you hoped no one would stop and talk to them. They were well-known heroes, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if they did. At least they were dressed casually enough to go unnoticed. It helped that winter apparel was great for hiding distinguishing features.

Across the atrium, your eyes wandered to a couple of men, standing together, looking entirely out of place. They wore black trench coats, which wasn't unusual, but the fact that they were glaring at you was. When one of them noticed you staring back, he smacked his buddy and seemed to scold him.

"Y/N?" Ochaco asked. "You there?"

"Hmm?" You turned your attention back to the girls. "What?"

"I asked if you need a ride home. Izuku might be a while and you look like you need some sleep." She said.

You shook your head. "No, that's alright." You looked back at the men, but they were gone. "I'm fine with waiting. Besides, I enjoy the atmosphere." You gestured around you with a grin.

She shoved your shoulder playfully. "You're like the only person I know who enjoys a hospital."

"Ah, you just don't know her like I do." You laughed.

The three of you sat for a while before you finally spotted Izuku's green hair bobbing through the crowd. Shoto was beside him, in deep conversation. A few people stopped them, asking for autographs or pictures and before you knew it, a crowd had formed. You were used to this though, so you went back to your conversation, waiting for Izuku to make his escape. After a couple of minutes of autographs and photos, he waved them goodbye. Most took the hint and cleared out. A few lingered, but let him alone.

He made his way over to you and kissed your cheek. "Sorry, I know I said we wouldn't stay long."

You shrugged. "It's fine." You turned to the girls. "Thanks for waiting with me."

Ochaco stood up and hugged you. "You know I love hanging out with you. We'll catch up soon, but I gotta get back to the office before they send the hounds after me." She said her goodbyes and left.

You looked at Shoto, but he seemed adamant about avoiding eye contact with you. "Y/N." It was more than he'd said to you in weeks so you took it and ran with it.

"Hey, Shoto." It felt awkward. Shouldn't have, but it did.

He didn't say anything else, more interested in his boots.

Izuku grabbed his shoulder and Shoto looked at him. "I'll meet you there in a couple of hours. Fill the others in."

He nodded and turned to Momo, who was glaring at him. "We should get going too." She said and grabbed your hands. "I would like to do lunch tomorrow. Are you free?" You nodded and she pulled you in for a crushing hug. "Wonderful. Now, go get some sleep."

Momo grabbed Shoto's hand and dragged him away, whispering harshly as they went.

Then it was just you and Izuku, who sighed and rubbed his neck. "I'm sorry. I'm really trying, but he can just be so stubborn sometimes."

You looped your arm around his and walked outside. "Let's just go home."

He looked on the brink of exhaustion. Bags were starting to form under his eyes. He would deny it, but you knew he had probably only racked up a total of five hours of sleep in the last few days if that. You weren't even sure how he was still standing.

When you neared the car, he fished the keys out of his pocket, but you stole them from his hands. "I'm driving. You can sleep on the way home."

He looked down at you. "I'm fine."

"So am I." You went around to the driver's side. "And I want to."

He didn't put up much of a fight and slunk into the seat, rubbing his eyes. You slid into the driver's side and started the car, waiting for the heat to warm you up.

"You shouldn't exhaust yourself to this point honey." You lectured, warming your hands by the vents. "It's not good for your health."

He leaned his head back on the seat and smirked. "And who kept me up last night?"

You shrugged, putting your seatbelt on. "Well, if that's the problem, we don't have to do that anymore."

He sat up and pouted. "I didn't
