⠀⠀⠀⠀It used to be that whenever the words "alien invasion" sprung into conversation, the words "conspiracy theory" and "science fiction" were thrown back in reply. But that was then, before the Arrival; before the Others arrived in their Mothership and decimated ninety-nine-percent of the human population; before those who did survive had to watch their backs like clockwork in fear of dropping dead from a bullet they'd never see coming. Families torn apart. Cities, destroyed. The people—billions—obliterated, until there is nothing left of civilisation but a quiet hum.

⠀⠀⠀⠀The First Wave killed thousands. The Second, millions. The Third had people wishing they were dead. And the Fourth Wave... Well, some people aren't quite people. When someone shoots at you, you shoot back. Mankind against alienkind (Or is it just mankind fighting back against themselves...?)

⠀⠀⠀⠀Considering their shared history of bad luck, former rivals Ellie Reid and Felix Caraveo shouldn't even be alive right now. Surviving the Waves is one thing—surviving each other, another. A month after the Third Wave takes out what's left of their hometown, they are attempting to cross state lines out of Kentucky into Ohio with their slim group of survivors when they are ambushed and subsequently scattered or killed, leaving Ellie and Felix to find their way to Wright-Patterson—the last known locations of her mom and his brother—with little more than some ammo they can count on two hands and the enduring company of one another.

And they might again beat the odds after taking refuge alongside a hundreds-long list of other kids and teens in a place known as "Camp Haven", run by what remains of the U.S. military out of the skeletal underground that is Wright-Patterson.

ah, yes... one of my favourite past times: writing oc x oc fics for dead & inactive fandoms ( ⌒-⌒)╯.*•☆

there's about three people who i know of who actually *remember* this story from when i had it published back in 2016 (even before the 5th wave movie came out). quite a bit has changed since then... notably, the fact that ellie's love interest used to be ben parish. BUT, one day upon rereading the old draft (i was feeling nostalgic) i realised i had unintentionally written major chemistry between ellie and her enemy turned best friend, felix (named peter at the time). i then thought to recast everyone to a more "updated" portrayal just for funsies... which, of course, led to me being OBSESSED with the characters all over again and wanting to rewrite oblivion altogether... thus bringing us to to everything you're reading how! whoops

i'm not sure *how* frequent updates will be, but one thing i want to mention is: even if you have never read (or seen) the 5th wave, my goal and hope with oblivion is to write it in a meaningful and cohesive enough way to be enjoyed without prior knowledge of the series. i have always wanted to write a dystopian "invasion" novel, and this to me feels like a nice outlet :) not to mention, i'm STOKED to be bringing ellie and felix back and better than ever. and as enemies to friends to lovers no less!! when i say fellie goes HARD as an otp i mean it
