A/n: I highly recommend listening to Symptom of Being Human by Shinedown, this fics title was inspired by it.

It was Friday.

All day at school you and Cole could barely look at each other without your faces turning red. Now it almost time for Cole to pick you up for your date. B/n sat on the couch watching TV as you brushed your hair. You had on your nicest jeans and flannel because it was a first date and Cole didn't seem like he'd dress up either. Suddenly there was a knock at the door and you rushed to answer it. You opened the door to find a very nervous Cole smiling awkwardly.

"Hi," He said shyly.

"Hi," You said. "Wanna come it?"

"Sure." He walked past you and you closed the door. "Um, these are for you." He held out a handful of wild flowers.

You smiled at him. "Thanks." You glanced at your brother who was scowling. "What? You got something to say?"

B/n glared at Cole as he spoke. "You know when Mom's gonna be home?"

"Round six thirty, you'll be fine until then."

B/n got up and went to his room.

"Don't mind him," You said turning back to Cole. "He hates when boys get within ten feet of me." You noticed he was still holding the flowers. "I'll go put these in water." You took them from him and for a moment your hands touched. You blushed and quickly went into the kitchen. You filled a vase with water and placed the flowers in it. When you went back into the living room you saw Cole looking at the pictures on the wall.

"Ready?" You asked.

"Yep." He said as he opened the door for you.

As you walked down the sidewalk you realized something.

"What are the chances of our friends seeing us and making fun of us?" You asked.

Cold thought for a second. "I don't know. Probably pretty high though."

"Where are we going?"

"I heard about a fair thing in the park. It doesn't have rides but, just people selling stuff. Food, books, toys. A little bit of everything."

You smiled. "Sounds fun."

Cole smiled back.

When you reached the park there were tons of tables and booths selling things.

"Whoa," You said. "You weren't lying when you said they have everything."

Cole chuckled.

It was a nice area. Trees scattered everywhere towered above. Light pinks were tinting the sky as the sun started to set. As you observed you felt something touch your hand. It was Cole. He wouldn't meet your eyes and he was blushing, but his hand was lightly grasping yours, waiting to be accepted. You smiled to yourself as you closed your hand around his.

You came across multiple stands and found some pretty cool stuff. You got a copy of "To Kill A Mockingbird" and Cole found some vinyl records. You held hands the whole time, only letting go to pay for stuff. After a while of walking you both got comfortable and engaged in conversation. You laughed at a joke Cole made when you noticed something had caught his attention.

"You hungry?" He asked.

You shrugged. " I could eat."

"How bout some churros?" He gestured toward a churros stand.

"Yum." You said as you walked over with him.

You each got a churro and Cole paid for them. You found a nice spot under a tree to sit. You sat in a comfortable silence for a bit, quietly chewing your churros. It was a while before you spoke but when you did it was interesting.

"Garmadon's probably gonna attack tomorrow." You said.

Cole looked at you. "How do you know that?"

You shrugged. "I just got a feeling. When I get feelings I'm usually right."

"Feelings?" He questioned.

"Y'know, feelings. Like the guy who gave a churros. He's nice, and he means well. I got a good feeling about him."

"Hmm." Cole hummed. "Well, if Garmadon does attsack, we'll be ready."

His expression changed, but you didn't know how to describe it.

"I like you, Y/n," He said. "And I wanna keep doing this. Do you, um, wanna be my girlfriend?"

A broad grin spread across your face. "Yeah, yeah I would."

Cole's smile reflected your as he grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers.

You walked around the park for a long time but when you realized how late it was you had to head home. Cole, being the gentleman he was, walked you home.

"You wanna come in?" You asked at the door of your apartment.

"I gotta get going." He said.

"Okay." You looked up at him. "I had a really good time tonight."

Cole smiled. "Me too."

Your hands were still tangled together. You stared up at him and decided to go for it. You placed your other hand on his chest, reached up, closed your eyes, and kissed him. At first you panicked when he didn't kiss back. But that went away after he let go of your hand to wrap it around your waist. He cupped your cheek with the other and kissed you back. When your lips parted you were so close your noses were practically touching. Cole smiled down at you creating a white break in his reddening face. You smiled back probably blushing just as hard.

"I'll call you tomorrow?" He asked still smiling.

"Sounds great." You said.

He pulled away slowly and walked down the hall.

You turned to open the door of you apartment and decided to steal one last glance at Cole. Apparently he had the same idea. He turned around and mirrored your smile. You went into your apartment and headed straight to your room, where you collapsed on your bed in a fit of suppressed giggles.
