After dinner, when Dino's dad had dropped off the pizza and they had eaten their fill, the two boys retreated back upstairs to Dino's room, already discussing which movie they'd put on for the night.
With the smell of pizza still lingering in the air, they lazily flopped onto Dino's bed, which was just big enough for the two of them to fit comfortably—though it required them to be close, not that either of them minded.
Dino grabbed the remote from his bedside table, pulling up the movie options on his laptop. Jeno sprawled out beside him, one arm draped lazily over Dino's shoulder as they both leaned back against the pillows.
"Alright, pick something," Dino said, holding the remote out to Jeno. "You complained last time, so you're in charge now."
Jeno took the remote, his eyes skimming over the movie titles. He clicked through the options slowly, clearly stalling. "Hmm... none of these are grabbing my attention. You got anything better?"
Dino rolled his eyes and reached over to nudge Jeno's shoulder. "You're stalling. Just pick something."
Jeno snickered, scrolling aimlessly through the options again before settling on an action-comedy that they'd both seen a few times but always enjoyed. He clicked play, then settled deeper into the bed, letting out a soft sigh. The movie started with its usual burst of high-energy action, filling the room with noise.
But it didn't take long for Jeno to start talking again, eyes flicking over to Dino with a playful glint. "You know, I was just thinking... for someone who spends so much time at their house, your bed is kind of small, dude."
Dino glanced over at him, raising an eyebrow. "You seriously bringing up the bed right now?"
"Yeah," Jeno teased, nudging him lightly with his elbow. "I mean, come on. My bed's way bigger than this. It's like you're trying to squeeze us into a twin."
Dino let out an exasperated laugh, shaking his head. "Okay, first of all, it's a full-size bed, thank you very much. And second, there's no point in having a bigger bed when we always end up like this." He gestured to the way they were already cuddled up together, bodies pressed close with Jeno's arm draped around him.
Jeno grinned, clearly amused. "You do have a point. This is pretty much standard for us."
"Exactly," Dino said, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "No use in a bigger bed when we're just gonna end up like this anyway."
Jeno laughed softly, turning his attention back to the movie for a moment before he spoke again. "You know, this is just what happens when you grow up together. We've been stuck like glue since we were kids."
Dino hummed in agreement, thinking back to all the times they'd fallen asleep together at one of their houses, either after watching movies or staying up too late talking about life. "Yeah, and somehow, it never changed. Not even when we got older."
"Not that I'm complaining," Jeno said, his voice soft as he nudged his head closer to Dino's, resting it on his shoulder. "You're like my human pillow at this point."
Dino chuckled, leaning his head back against Jeno's. "Same. Not that you're all that comfortable."
Jeno gasped dramatically, pulling away just slightly to look at Dino with mock offense. "Excuse you? I'm plenty comfortable. You're just spoiled from having me around so much."
Dino rolled his eyes, though a smile crept onto his face. "Yeah, yeah. Maybe. But you're not getting any fluffier, that's for sure."
Jeno shoved Dino lightly, laughing. "Watch it. I could totally leave and sleep in my 'bigger bed' at home if I wanted to."
Dino snorted, shaking his head. "Yeah, right. You'd miss me too much."
"Okay, fine," Jeno admitted, settling back against Dino with a content sigh. "I would. But only because I don't want to walk home."
Dino chuckled, letting the conversation lull as the movie continued in the background, filling the room with the sound of explosions and quick-witted banter. The two of them fell into a comfortable silence, the warmth of their bodies keeping them close as they lay there, the night stretching out peacefully around them.
It wasn't long before Jeno's arm draped back around Dino again, fingers absentmindedly playing with the edge of Dino's shirt as they both relaxed into the familiar comfort of each other's presence.
As the movie continued, Dino felt his eyelids growing heavy, the combination of the full stomach and the warmth of the bed lulling him into a relaxed state. He glanced over at Jeno, who seemed equally content, though his eyes were still half-focused on the screen.
"You falling asleep on me already?" Jeno teased softly, noticing Dino's sleepy expression.
"Maybe," Dino muttered, a small smirk playing on his lips. "It's your fault for picking something we've seen a million times."
Jeno chuckled, shifting a little closer. "Well, you can fall asleep if you want. I'll just be here, hogging the bed."
"You're the one who's gonna fall asleep first," Dino shot back, but the playful edge in his voice was softened by the clear drowsiness creeping into his tone.
The two of them lay there for a while longer, the movie playing in the background as the day faded into night, their bodies curled up close in the small bed that neither of them seemed to mind anymore. It didn't matter how big or small the space was—as long as they had each other, that was all they needed.
Before long, Dino's head drooped onto Jeno's shoulder, his breathing evening out as he drifted off into sleep. Jeno, ever the softie despite his teasing, smiled fondly and didn't move, letting his best friend rest. It wasn't long before Jeno's eyes began to close as well, the warmth of the bed and the sound of the movie slowly fading out as he followed Dino into sleep.
And just like that, the two of them drifted off together, curled up in a space that had always felt like home.
