Pilot.
"Bye Mom!" Claire yelled as she made her way to the buss.
The door closed behind her and she made her way to her usual seat next to one of her only friends.
"What is going through your mind today, Vereena?" She asked as she got comfortable.
"The fact that you still read. It's not very attractive, C" She nods.
"I read because I like too. You need to read. It's healthy for the soul" She fired back.
"Here he comes" Her best friend said as she looked ahead.
"I don't see why people find him attractive. He's not polite, has no manners once so ever. Yet people act like he's a god" Claire tells her.
"C, it's high school. That's half of the boys profile. Girls like that or the people that still sound like they're in 6th grade" She explained to her best friend.
"May I remind you, you are those girls that like those imbeciles" Claire said nodding her head towards the group.
"If you ignore all the cons you can focus on the pros. Which are they are extremely attractive" She said and they finally made it to their destination.
As they made they're way off the buss they see their school get filled up with kids making they're way to their lockers, groups.
"That's what you need to do. You need to at least find one of them attractive" She said as they made there way to the lockers.
"High school boys are like dogs" Claire said as she collected her books she needed her first three periods.
"Tell me someone you find attractive" Vereena said doing the same thing.
"Yes I do" She closed her locker to face her best friend.
"Jensen Ackles" Her friend gave her a dreaded look.
"Someone our age" She asked again.
"Boys our age are disgusting. All they do is stare at a girl that has boobs and they make their way" Clair said defending her own statement.
She looked around to see one of the boys making their way to a girl.
"That boy is about to prove my point" She said and they saw him swing his arm around her.
Smiling at her like if she was a desert.
"Exactly my point" Claire said and the bell rings.
"See you at lunch" Vereena told her best friend and they go their separate ways.
Claire was trying to make her way to her 1st period through the people shoving their way through.
Claire bumping into someone.
"Valentine!" Mr. Alvarez yelled as soon as the girl sat down.
Her head shot up and he motioned her to come to his desk. She slightly groaned. She hated when he did this. His desk was in front of this class. She placed her books down and went.
"Yes?" She asked.
"How's you're morning?" He joked as he looked for her paper.
"Really? That's why you called me up here?" She told him.
"No. Here's your paper. It took longer to grade since you made it three pages long" he teased.
Mr. Alvarez has always been this way to Claire. He has tried to get her to be more active in school.
"I'm just trying to get a good grade" She told him and looked down at the paper to see a bright A on it.
"And by the looks of it I succeeded" She said with a small smile and went back to her desk.
-
"You have the notes for Alvarez?" Eliot Archibald asked one of his friends.
"You're asking the one who doesn't do shit" He answered. "Fuck" he muttered.
He looked around. Then he spotted a girl carrying a notebook on the cover it has his name on it.
He walked up to her.
"Hey can I borrow your notes?" He asked the girl.
She stared at him in awe.
"Do I have something on my face?" He asked.
"What. What did you asked for?" She asked finally catching up.
"Your notes".
"Oh yeah here, you can keep them if you want" she said slamming the notebook on his chest.
"I just need them for today" He answered and thanked her.
She gave him a warm smile and walked away squealing to her friends.
Eliot Archibald never understood why girls fond over him. He wasn't all that special. He never went out with anyone. After his brother he became king of high school. The first junior to rule the school. The bell rang and he went off to his third period.
He made it to his seat. Which was the back of the class. Where people who didn't want to be disturbed sit. He was messing with his rings while other students come in. He wasn't the brightest. He was smart like the average student. But he was a slow learner.
Third period went by. Eliot Archibald copied the notes and carried it on his way out getting ready to give it back to it's rightful owner. But as usual. The hallways were crowded with kids. He spotted the same girl.
He rushed through the kids trying to get to her only to run into someone making them drop all her books and papers.
"I'm so sorry" He said getting down on the floor to help her.
"Oh, it's okay. Don't worry about it" she mumbled trying to collect all of her stuff as fast as she could.
They both got up and Eliot Archibald finally saw her face. A small gust of wind hit him.
"Hey can I have those thanks" She said grabbing her things from his hands.
"Oh, yeah, again my apologies for making you drop your things" He told her trying to make her stay longer.
"Oh yeah, it's not problem" She said trying to fix her things.
"Hey" he said making her look up.
She stopped trying to fix her things and look up.
Holy shit.
They're eyes met. She stared at the boy. Longer enough to drop her books once again. She cussed under her breath.
Eliot Archibald helped her once again but this time she grabbed her belonging and went off to her fourth period.
-
"Hey Valentine" The twins greeted her as she took her seat in art class.
Scott and Spencer Ashford.
"Hey boys, Uno?" She asked.
"As always" One of the twins told her and took out the cards.
"What's on your mind today?" She asked them as Spencer gave them seven cards.
"The thing that's on my mind is that I'm going to beat your asses" Scott told her as he picked up his cards.
"No" Claire said with a bright smile.
"Has he always been in our class?" Valentine asked as she sees Eliot Archibald walk in.
"Yeah. You haven't noticed?" Scott asked placed a yellow three on the table.
"No. I don't usually pay attention to the people I don't know" Claire shrugs and placed a yellow five.
Eliot Archibald took his seat and he noticed the girl he bumped into. He looked away and started to talk to his friend next to him.
"Why was he staring at you? You don't have anything on your face?" Spencer told her as he made a quick glance to her face then back at his cards.
Claire sighs.
"I dumped into him in the halls before I came here. Maybe he recognized my face" Claire shook her head.
"Wow. Eliot Archibald memorized a girls face. Pigs must be flying" Scott said placing a reverse card.
The three kept placing cards and talking. This is what they always do. Everyday.
"What's the number before two? Oh that's right- UNO" She yelled and placed her last card.
"Shh" The teacher yelled.
"Sorry" she mumbled.
"Man".
"Fuck this shit".
"As I should. I haven't won in a while too" Claire mumbled and leaned in her chair.
"Why is he looking over here?" Scott said shuffling the cards.
Claire turned around and saw he was looking her way. She shrugs and turns back.
"I don't know. Look it's just us. Let's keep playing. Claire tells them.
"What new book you have this time Valentine?" Spencer asked as Scott gives us cards.
"Dracula" Claire answered and took out the used book.
"That doesn't look new" Scott said and placed the rest of the deck on the table.
"It's not. It's an old book. When my grandmother comes to visit she always gives me a book. She does this every time she comes to visit" Claire said and placed a red five.
"You must have a lot. She visits once a year" Spencer said and placed a blue five.
"Touché" Scott said and placed a +4 and smirked at spencer.
By the look of Spencer face he knew his twin only had that one card. He placed the same card and Scott gave up and placed his cards on the table in defeat.
Spencer and Claire chuckled.
"Look. The day Eliot Archibald actually dates someone and not lead them on is the day I finally come out to my mom" Spencer mumbled.
"Babe, you don't have to worry. If anything goes wrong you can easily just come over to my house, you know that" Claire smiled at the twin.
"And you won't be alone. We've stuck to the same saying for about 17 years. Wherever your dumb ass goes I go" Scott told him.
They chuckle. Then they see a chair from their table being pulled out. They look up to see Eliot Archibald sit down. They stay silent.
"Hey" He said and gave them a smile.
They all looked at each other not knowing what to do.
"Hey, if I'm not mistaken you're the girl I bumped into in the halls right?" He turned to Claire.
She nodded.
"Can I have your name? Please?" He asked.
"Umm" She turned to the guys for help but they looked away.
"Not to be rude but, why?" She asked.
"Make new friends?" He smirked at her.
"I think she's fine with the three she has" Scott tells him with a tight limp smile.
Eliot Archibald turned to the girl.
"Sorry, but it's true. I'm not big on making friends. The only reason why I'm friends with them is because I've been seated with them since freshmen year" She told him trying to decline in the nicest way possible.
"Plus why bother? Not to be rude".
"Oh. Uh, that's fine. I should be getting back to my seat. Nice seeing you though" Eliot Archibald said and gave her a smile and left off.
They kept playing until the bell rang. They got their things and left for lunch. "Hey! Wait" Eliot Archibald rushed to Claire. "Your name is Claire. Claire Valentine" He told her making her turn around. "Yeah. Yeah it is. Your name is Eliot. Eliot Archibald" She tells him and turns back around and walked away.
