BANNER: CARTER

Chapter 7

Graham's head was resting on my shoulder, this was the clostest I've been to a guy since probably 6th grade or so, I was nervous, obviously, what are you supposed to do when you have someone sleeping on you? And most importantly, that someone is drunk.

Should I wake him up? Should I take him to his car? Should I take him to his house? That was too far, wasn't it?

We kept that position for about four minutes, then I heard someone walking towards me, it was Carter.

"Hey, Laura?" He said, "All good?"

"Well," I whispered, "Graham fell asleep on my shoulder and I don't know what to do."

He let out a little laugh, a pretty adorable laugh, "You can wake him up, it's fine. After all... he won't remember anything tomorrow, anyways."

I smiled at him and he smiled me back, his hazel eyes were sparkling under the moonlight, "Okay," I told him, then he turned backwards and crossed the door into the basement again.

I most certainly didn't want to go inside again, I could barely breathe and the smell was horrible, a mix of alcohol, sweat and a hint of marijuana, maybe. I've never smelled marijuana, though.

I moved Graham's head softly off of my shoulder, he let out a little groan and opened his eyes.

"5 more minutes, please?" He muttered sleepily.

"Graham, if you want to sleep you should go home or something..." I adviced him, he widened his eyes.

"I can't drive if you didn't notice, and my curfew is in about two hours," He mumbled resting his head in one hand.

"I can drive you," I offered. Why Laura? Why did you offer yourself to drive him? Why was this boy making me do stupid things I wouldn't do for other people?

"With one condition," He passed his arm around my shoulders, "Do you have like a secret place?"

I tensed, "I do," I sometimes went to the town's orphanage, they needed a lot of help, there were only 7 kids but Natalie, the head of the orphanage worked alone with her husband, John, who also was the cook. I liked to go there and play with the kids, go to the park...

"Well I want you to show me your secret place," He told me, "And I'll show you mine, I promise."

I shook my head and let out a little laugh, "We're not friends enough," He looked at me disappointed, "Maybe in the future, I'll show it to you," I cleared.

"We're not friends?" He pressed his lips, I looked at him, he was looking like a lost puppy, more like a drunk lost puppy, though.

"I mean, we are friends, but not enough to show you my intimity, Graham," I told him carefully.

He winced, "It's not like I asked you to get naked," He sighed, I laughed at his comment and ruffled his hair rosing.

"So, do you want me to drive you home?" I asked him.

He crossed his arms and glared at me, "No, I can go walking."

I widened my eyes at his subtle voice tone change, did I do something wrong?

"Is something wrong?" I asked him raising an eyebrow.

"Why do you say that, babe?" He smirked, now that was weird.

"You sounded like you got angry..."

He rosed with difficulty, "Let's go inside," He walked by me and crossed the door not even answering to my question or looking at me, definitely, there was something wrong with him.

I let a couple of seconds pass then I sighed and crossed the door, ready to confront the mass of sweaty teenagers dancing, I walked between the crowd and found Lea sitting on the couch with her phone.

"Lea!" I yelled, "How come you're here?"

She looked at me, "I've been trying to contact you forever, where's your phone?"

I brang my hand to my pocket and it surprised me to not find it there, when I was sitting with Graham I did have it. Then I realised It must've slipped from my pocket when we sat on the stairs.

"I know where it is!" I snapped, "Wait for me for a sec."

I walked as fast as I could crossing all the room again, I recognised Evil Kimberly's minions dancing by my side, but I didn't see her. When I finally arrived at the front door I let out a sigh and opened it.

I froze at the sight of a couple making out, doorknob still on my hand, a couple of seconds passed until he realised someone was there. Graham looked at me pulling away from Kimberly, I tried to decipher his look but it was empty.

"Do you know her?" Kimberly asked Graham with contempt.

"No, she's not my friend," He answered her, he wrapped Kimberly's waist with his arm and pulled her closer to him.

I walked to the stairs trying to avoid any kind of eye contact, I distinguished my phone laying on the stairs, the stairs where I've been sitting nearly 5 minutes ago with Graham.

Before crossing the door I peeked at them, but I shouldn't had, Graham caught my gaze and smirked while kissing Kimberly's neck passionately. I closed the door strongly and walked back to Lea, when I found her I sat by her side crossing my arms.

"Do you know who's here?" Lea told me amused, when she saw I wasn't answering she said, "Graham Fisher."

I glared at her and snapped, "So what?"

She widened her eyes at my angry tone, "Woah, what's wrong with you?"

"More like what's wrong with Graham," I rolled my eyes, "He was making out with Kimberly. Kimberly! Right in front of me!"

Lea jumped on her seat, "What?"

I nodded and looked asides, "I want to go home," I told her.

"Wait, why is it bugging you so much? It isn't like you like Graham right?" Lea questioned grabbing my sleeve.

I put my hand on my chest feeling offended, "I don't like Graham, for god's sake, he's not even my friend," I spit out, "The thing is he made out with Kimberly! Kimberly! Can you believe it? That's like making out with Satan itself..."

Lea carved a smile but immediately hid it when she noticed I was being serious.

"I'm going home," I muttered rubbing my forehead, "I'm really tired..."

We rose, Lea patted my back affectively and added, "I'm staying with Kota, have a safe ride."

I gave her a quick hug and left, I was about to cross the door praying not to find Graham making out with Evil Kimberly again, when I opened the door nobody was there, I let out a sigh.

I walked down the stairs and headed to my car. While I was walking there I saw a figure of a boy resting his back on my car's door, as I walked nearer I distinguished the boy's scrambled brown hair and his dark green eyes, Graham.

"What are you doing here, Graham?" I said tiredly.

He flexed his jaw. "You said you were going to drive me home," He smirked.

I arched my eyebrows in disbelief, was he kidding? "Are you kidding me?"

He furrowed his eyebrows, "I'm not kidding."

"After what you just did? Did you really thought it was going to be all fine after you denied we were friends in front of the girl who has made my life a living hell?" I snapped.

His face expression changed completely. "She doesn't treat you well?"

My eyes started filling up with tears remembering how much pain I had to suffer because of that girl, "Well, yeah, she certainly doesn't treat me well!" My voice was shaking by now.

We locked gazes, he adverted my watery eyes and walked towards me, I put my hand on his chest, "Don't," I sniffed, "Don't touch me."

"I...I-I'm sorry," He whispered, "I didn't know who she was..."

That comment made me lose my temper even more, "Then why did you make out with her?" I snapped, "You're unbelievable, player."

He winced, "I'm not a player," He grabbed my wrist, "I promise."

"I said. Don't. Touch. Me."

He grabbed my wrist tighter, "And I said. I'm. Sorry." He pressed his lips together.

"Your apologies mean nothing to me," I finally got rid of his hand and got inside the car, the tears streamed down my face with no control. Someone who I thought I could trust had just betrayed me, it felt like someone had stabbed my back. I knew I couldn't trust him, I shouldn't have opened up so fast. Then I went over the words I told him and realised I had been really cruel, he didn't deserve so much curtness.

He hadn't act well, that was clear. But I wanted to forgive him, everyone deserved a second chance. Tearing my tears away with my sleeve and opening the door, I distinguished Graham walking back to the house.

"Graham," I yelled and he turned around surprised, "I forgive you."

He started walking towards me but I held up my hand in a stop sign, "I said I forgive you," I started, "But I need some time."

He nodded and said, "I'm sorry I didn't know what I was doing, I'll be careful from now on."

But I didn't want him to be careful with who he made out, I just wanted him not to make out at all. I knew he wasn't that kind of guy, but something made him change, I didn't know what, but I wanted to discover it.
