It's half past twelve now and Instead of me being like a normal teenage girl texting or talking to a guy, I was on my bed doing my science project on a Saturday night.

I'm the type of girl that prefers books to the movies or staying at home with a good novel than stepping outside, especially if the novels related to science.

I've always loved science since I was little and I guess my parents passed it down to me. My dad works with the CIA so he travels a...lot just for his job. My mum's also a biologist and she also goes around the world but only once in a while for her meetings.

I was almost done with it when I heard my mum arguing about dad's job again. I tried to ignore it because they usually settle it later but I heard something break and there's no way I'm going to ignore that.

I snuck out of my room and crawled across the corridor; luckily for me, their door was slightly open which made my job easier. I saw my mum going pale

"Alexis, would you calm down please .you know how my job is, I'm a very busy man.''

"That doesn't include taking you away from your family DONALD!''

Mum always gets scared when dad goes on his trips
she's afraid of losing him just like how she lost her older brother to a plane crash.

"I said I'll be back before Delaney's birthday, nothing's going to happen to me."

"Donald, you know how scared i get anytime you leave!"

He put his index finger on his lips "Sssh, be quiet you'll wake up the kids."

"Too late for that" I interrupted in my mind.

Mum sat down and started fidgeting with her brown shoulder lengthened hair as Dad sat beside her to pacify her.

"Darling, you know how much I love you, I can never leave you even if I have to."

"I know you do Donny, but you know you could tell Eric to cover up for you, can't you a least stay till Delaney's birthday? You only turn 16 once."

"Lexy, I can't it's an emergency issue I need to sort out myself."

"Ok, but promise me you'll call me every day."

He cupped her chin in his hand and looked in her eyes "I'd call you every minute if I have to."

Mum's blushing now. Awww, I think it's cute for their age.

"I love you Alexis, never forget that" Dad leaned over and kissed her.

I left them to their moment and snuck back to my room, My lights were on which meant only one thing: Britney's in my room.

I walked in slowly so I could scare her but I noticed she was upset so I stopped and walked normally "Hey, what's the problem?"

I changed my tone to soothe her, She said "I had a bad dream that dad left for a trip and never came back."

"Don't worry about it you know dad always comes back. Let's pray about it to make you feel better." I helped her off the bed to knell her  down and we prayed together .   

When we were done, she looked at me then asked "Do you think everything would be alright Delly?"

I pecked and patted her head before I took her back to bed and said "I know it will."

Then quickly ran back and slept off before anything else happens.
