Here's the story based on a request about Mahi losing his temper in front of the seniors for the first time.
I would suggest reading the other two parts of the angry Mahi story because I have made some references to them here.
~~~~~~~
A few weeks had passed since Yuvi had left for his cancer treatment and the team was trying to move forward while also praying for the star all-rounder's health.
The board had been working tirelessly to find a good enough replacement and were somehow even managing to get on the captain's nerves.
Mahi had been extremely busy with trying keep track of his best friend's health while also looking after the entire team.
The last thing he really needed was the board pestering him when the boys were hellbent on being brats.
Yuvi might not be with the team, but his presence could be felt through all the juniors he had corrupted before going on his medical leave.
Mahi had too much on his plate, so he had requested his sensible best friend to ensure that the unruly kids don't get themselves in too much trouble.
Sonu would always be tailing the most mischievous boys, especially if they left the hotel premises.
His extremely stressed best friend had asked him to keep an eye on the boys to save them from difficult and dangerous situations.
Unfortunately, the captain had forgotten to account for the power of persuasion, a skill that all the juniors had mastered and perfected over time.
~~~~~~~
One day when Sonu was following some of the kids, he spotted the two of them go into a bar and tried his best to keep an eye on them at all times.
He didn't like to see them drinking but he also understood that everyone was dealing with the news of Yuvi's cancer in their own way.
While he did not agree with their decisions, Sonu knew that he could only try his best to keep them out of major trouble.
Their captain was not going to be happy about this, but it wasn't like there was much that could be done considering the circumstances.
Sonu understood his best friend's concerns, but he also wasn't going to stop them from doing whatever helped them cope.
Just then he spotted Virat and Rohit getting into some sort of an argument with a bunch of men who looked a lot more drunk than them.
Sonu immediately ran to do some damage control when he heard the drunk men challenge his boys to a race.
Stupidly enough, the boys accepted the challenge despite knowing that they were in no condition to drive.
Sonu whisper yells, "You idiots are too drunk. Let's just leave now before either of you get hurt."
Virat replies in a low voice, "But Sonu Bhai, these guys have been making fun of us all night. We have to give it back to them."
Rohit adds, "Yes Bhai. We'll show them who's boss."
Sonu says, "Well too bad because you're both drunk. Don't even think about driving now otherwise I'll call Mahi and then you can explain yourselves to him."
Virat argues, "But Bhai we already accepted their challenge. We'll look like cowards if we back out now."
Sonu sighs while Rohit asks, "What if we don't drive? What if someone else drives in our place?"
Virat looks confused and replies, "But they challenged us for a race. Why would anyone else drive in our place?"
Rohit explains, "Sonu Bhai can drive in our place na. He obviously wasn't drinking like us, so it should be fine."
Sonu's eyes widen and he tried to refuse, but Virat says, "It's either you or one of us. We can't back out of the race now, so it's your choice."
The boys give a pleading look to their Bhai and Sonu can't help but sigh at the situation.
~~~~~~~
Dada, Sachin Paaji and Jammy Bhai had checked up on their sick kid before deciding to visit the others and maybe help the poor captain.
After arriving at the hotel, they freshen up and enter the team room where they were shocked by the sight that greeted them.
Three of the boys were standing in front of the rest with their heads down while the usually calm captain was pacing and almost shaking with anger.
The men share confused looks before they hear a loud voice, "Of all the stupid and irresponsible things you boys could have done, this one just takes the cake. You not only put yourselves at risk, but also any innocent bystanders. You idiots are lucky that the cops pulled you over before anything serious could have happened."
Sonu nervously says, "Mahi, please just let us explain what exactly happened."
Mahi turns in his best friend's direction and snaps, "And you were supposed to help them get out of trouble, not join them. Sonu, I am so disappointed in you. Here I was thinking that you've got some common sense, so you'll be more rational."
Virat whispers, "Mahi Bhai, it's not his fault. Rohit and I convinced him to participate. Sonu Bhai toh was trying to stop us because we were both drunk."
Mahi sternly replies, "I don't want any excuses from you two. All of you have been acting out but I didn't say anything because I know that things haven't been easy for any of us lately. But going out almost every night and drinking so much alcohol is not doing you boys any favours. What on earth were you thinking?"
Rohit argues, "We just wanted to let loose for some time. The past few months haven't exactly been nice."
Mahi snaps, "Guess what Rohit, I know that. You boys think I'm enjoying myself here? I've got enough stress without you idiots running wild and getting locked up for participating in illegal street races."
Virat says, "Wasn't staying in jail for the night punishment enough? We promise we won't go drinking again."
Mahi replies, "I'm not letting you boys off so easily. After all I'm a Hitler captain na."
Rohit softly says, "We didn't really mean that Mahi Bhai. We were just a little too drunk when Sonu Bhai called you."
Mahi shakes his head and replies, "I don't need to hear any excuses from you two. Besides haven't you heard the phrase that a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts. If I'm Hitler for you then that's exactly how I'll treat you from now on."
Sonu nervously says, "Mahi, please just relax and let's handle this calmly. I only participated because the boys were too drunk and I wanted them to be safe. Nobody was hurt so isn't that a good thing?"
Mahi almost screams in response, "So me getting a call in the middle of the night from a police station telling me that three of my teammates have been arrested for illegal street racing sounds like a good thing to you?"
The three boys just look to their feet, feeling ashamed of their actions while the captain just walks away shaking his head in disappointment.
The rest of the team soon follows knowing that there was nothing else that could really be done now.
All of them were still quite shaken up after seeing their captain so angry.
~~~~~~~
The seniors are all shocked at the revelation and also when they see their usually quiet kid explode on the miscreants.
The last time when Yuvi mentioned about how seeing Mahi lose his temper could be an extremely terrifying experience, they hadn't really believed the kid mainly because they really didn't think it was possible.
Yuvi was known for spinning tall tales occasionally so naturally they assumed that this was another such instance.
No one could really imagine someone as calm and composed as Mahi to have such an angry outburst.
Mahi rarely ever reacted to any of his teammates whenever they would be on a mission to annoy the poor guy.
After realising that the captain was out of earshot, they entered the room earning shocked gasps from the boys.
Jammy Bhai turns to his kid and asks, "Sonu, tum logo ne kya kiya exactly? Mahi itne gusse me kyu hai?"
Sonu nervously replies, "Woh bas ek race me participate kiya tha kal raat ko. Unfortunately, police ne pakad liya aur Mahi ko aadhi raat me phone lagaya. Woh itne gusse me tha sab sunne ke baad ki usne humko raat bhar jail me hi sone ke liye bola. Maine socha ki shayad subah tak thoda shaant ho jaayega lekin abhi bhi kaafi gusse me hai. Itna toh kabhi nahi daanta usne hum me se kisi ko bhi."
Dada sarcastically asks, "Race ka idea kaunse genius ka tha?"
Virat softly replies, "Woh ek aadmi ne mujhe aur Rohit ko challenge kiya tha. Hum dono ne thodi zyaada hi pi rakhi thi toh humne Sonu Bhai ko drive karne ke liye convince kiya."
Sachin Paaji sighs and says, "Well at least tum dono ne itna toh dimaag laga ki khud drive nahi karna chahiye."
Rohit interjects, "Actually woh Sonu Bhai ki wajah se hi kiya tha. Hum toh khud gaadi chalaane wale the lekin Bhai ne saaf mana kar diya."
Jammy Bhai sternly asks, "Participate karne ki bhi kya zaroorat thi tum logo ko?"
Virat replies, "Woh log hamara mazaak uda rahe the. Race nahi karte toh aur chidhaate humko."
Dada snaps, "Tumhari jaan se zyaada zaroori nahi thi yeh race. Kuch ho jaata toh tum me se kisi ko bhi?"
Sonu almost whispers, "We're sorry. Humko yeh sab nahi karna chahiye tha."
Sachin Paaji replies, "Ab sorry bolke kya fayda? Aur humko bol bhi kyu rahe ho? Jisko itna pareshaan kiya hai usko jaake bolo."
Rohit says, "Lekin Mahi Bhai abhi humse baat nahi karenge. Unko kaise sorry bole."
Jammy Bhai replies, "Yeh sab galti karne se pehle sochna chahiye tha. Humne khud Mahi ko kabhi itne gusse me nahi dekha hai. Tum teeno ko khud hi figure out karna padega ki usko kaise manana hai."
Sonu nods and leaves the room with his head down, feeling particularly horrible about making his best friend so angry.
Virat and Rohit share a look of determination and immediately left to go to their room in order to come up with a plan.
The seniors decide to check up on their angry kid while the troublemakers worked on their apology.
~~~~~~~
Mahi was still seething in anger by the time he entered his room despite his attempts at trying to calm himself down.
If the situation had been even a little different then he would consider calling his wife for help, but he didn't want to risk accidentally snapping at her.
Sakshi definitely didn't deserve to listen to her husband's angry rants just because her Devars were terminally stupid.
Mahi personally couldn't imagine being this angry regardless of the provocation.
He tried pacing in his room while muttering about the idiots in his life before resorting to some breathing exercises.
This was only the second time he had lost his temper in front of the team, but this time his reaction also felt a little more extreme.
Probably because the last time it was Yuvi who was involved in the stupidity while this time it was his Sonu.
This was his sensible best friend who could usually differentiate right from wrong.
Why Sonu thought participating in a street race like that was a good idea was beyond him.
Mahi was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't even hear the door opening nor did he realise that he had some visitors.
Just then a familiar voice startles him that asks, "Everything okay Mahi?"
Mahi looks up to find his three older brothers looking at him with concern in their eyes so he fake smiles and replies, "I'm perfectly fine. When did you all come?"
Dada blankly says, "When you were busy scolding Sonu, Virat and Rohit for last night's escapades."
The kid's eyes widen while Sachin Paaji sits next to him and asks, "Would you like to talk about it?"
Jammy Bhai adds, "Mahi, we just want to understand why you are feeling this way. We won't force you to talk to us, but I think it'll be better if you do."
Mahi sighs and replies, "I don't really know why I'm so angry. Last night when I got the call, I was so worried until they told me about the racing. I mean what were these idiots even thinking. They knowingly put themselves in danger and I just lost it. I felt bad about making them stay in jail for the night, but I didn't want to accidentally say something I would regret later. I figured that I'll calm down by the time I wake up in the morning but somehow that didn't happen. I was just going to give them a formal dressing down in front of the team, but then I don't exactly know what happened."
Dada says, "I think I have an idea. Those boys were trying to justify their actions and it made you angry that they weren't acknowledging the fact that they were in the wrong. You're angry because they haven't exactly realised what they did wrong."
Mahi looks stunned as he asks, "How did you?"
Jammy Bhai replies, "Oh we've been there way too many times. I think you're forgetting who your teammates were."
Mahi argues, "But you guys never exploded on them the way I just did. I know that you did scold them and everything, but not the way I just did."
Sachin Paaji says, "You saw us after we got quite used to all the stupidity. Initially even we reacted a bit harshly. Jammy also lost it occasionally if the level of idiocy got a little too much. Why do you think everyone was terrified of Jammy's anger? Besides I think your reaction was more amplified because Sonu was involved. Even we felt more angry when you were involved in one of Yuvi's crazy plans. We always expected you to be sensible just like you expect Sonu to be."
Mahi almost whispers, "I think I was too hard on him today. I mean he did ensure that the other two idiots didn't drive after drinking."
Jammy Bhai replies, "That's true but he himself did get behind the wheel. You can't ignore that part."
Mahi asks, "So you don't think I should have tried to control my temper more?"
Dada replies, "I'll admit that you need to make some effort to remain more calm. You scared everyone there and that bit should be avoided."
Mahi nervously asks, "Did I scare you guys too?"
Sachin Paaji replies, "Not exactly. I think it had more to do with the fact that we didn't believe Yuvi when he told us about your scary temper. We honestly thought that he was exaggerating."
Mahi sheepishly rubs the back of his neck and says, "I should probably talk to Sonu now."
Jammy Bhai nods and replies, "He went to his room after we had a chat with them."
Dada asks, "What about the other two monkeys?"
Mahi replies, "Oh they're getting punished. I let them off a little easy the last time I caught them with Yuvi, but not this time. For starters, they're grounded until I feel like I can trust them to make good choices."
Sachin Paaji says, "That seems fair. Now go and talk to Sonu. We'll keep an eye on these two."
Mahi nods and immediately goes to his best friend's room while the seniors go looking for the two idiots.
~~~~~~~
Mahi slowly enters his best friend's room where Sonu was lying on his bed with tears streaming down his face.
The captain slowly moves into his best friend's line of sight and softly calls out to him.
Sonu almost immediately sits up, whipping his face and is about to say something, but gets cut off, "No, don't say anything now. I'm sorry for exploding like that. I told you to keep those fools out of trouble and you did manage that somehow."
Mahi held his ears while his best friend says, "I understand where you were coming from too. I shouldn't have given in and the racing idea was definitely a bad one. I'm sorry for making you worry like that."
The two best friends then pull each other in for a hug, whispering a few more apologises in the other's ear.
That was exactly how the seniors found the two best friends when they made an appearance with their two unruly juniors.
Jammy Bhai says, "It's good to see that the two of you have reconciled but we have some more pressing matters to attend to right now."
Mahi nods as he pulls away before turning to the two boys and asks, "Care to explain why you have been going to clubs so often lately?"
Virat nervously replies, "We just wanted some kind of distraction. Sorry-"
Sonu cuts him off, "No more apologises till you explain your stupid actions. Sports khelte ho toh itna drinking achha nahi hota. I'm sure you boys know this then why?"
Rohit softly says, "We were constantly worried about Yuvi Pa in our free time. Bas isliye khud ko distract karne ki koshish kar rahe the."
Mahi sighs at the response while Sachin Paaji sternly replies, "We are also worried about him, but do you see any of us doing something that might endanger our lives? Getting drunk or participating in races isn't going to help in any way.
Dada adds, "Do you realise that you might even be risking your careers like this?"
Virat almost whispers, "We're sorry"
Rohit adds in an equally low voice, "We promise not to do something stupid again"
Mahi smiles and asks, "How about you come talk to one of us instead of doing something without really thinking?"
Dada makes a face and retorts, "What happened to grounded till you feel like you can trust them?"
Mahi chuckles lightly and replies, "Oh they know that they are grounded until further notice. I'm just trying to avoid another act of stupidity."
The juniors sigh in relief until they feel someone pulling their ears and start whining about the pain.
Mahi twists their ears a little more as he continues, "Next time you geniuses try to manipulate Sonu or anyone into doing what you want, your punishment is going to be so much worse. Also save those pouty faces for someone else because they're not going to work on me."
The two kids immediately stop pouting in their attempt to convince their captain to spare them and instead go back to whining some more.
Eventually Mahi leaves them and the two young boys immediately start rubbing their poor ears which had most definitely turned red.
Just then Sachin Paaji turns to his best friends and says, "Well after today we have to admit that Yuvi wasn't kidding when he told us about Mahi being straight up terrifying when angry."
Mahi makes a face while Dada adds, "Definitely scarier than an angry Jammy."
Jammy Bhai now looks offended and replies, "That's not true. I wasn't that scary."
Mahi and Sonu shudder due to some memories and together say, "Yes you were"
Jammy Bhai shoots his boys a glare while Dada comments, "And that goes to prove our point. It was actually a good thing because the boys tended to behave if you got angry at even one of them."
Virat says, "Well the same thing happens here with Mahi Bhai. No one dares to disobey his orders for at least a month."
Rohit adds, "And that's after he apologises for getting angry."
Mahi shakes his head before he replies, "Oh that reminds me. I need to take the team out for lunch tomorrow."
Jammy Bhai asks, "What for exactly?"
Sonu replies, "For losing his temper and scaring everyone. He did this back when Yuvi snuck out with Virat and Rohit."
Dada nods and says, "That seems like a good idea. Hopefully the youngsters are not too scarred from the incident."
Mahi covers his face and sighs, just now realising that a lot of the boys were like newbies, so this was probably the first time they had actually seen him angry.
Sonu pats his best friend on the back and says, "Don't worry Mahi. We'll help the boys get comfortable again."
Everyone murmurs in
