Kankri sat alone in his room, curled up with a blanket. His curtains were drawn closed, but that didn't stop the lightning from lighting up the room every few moments. And the rumbles of thunder that followed after had him letting out soft whimpers and shaking.
Kankri barely even realized there was a knock on his bedroom door. It was his roommate, Cronus.
"Chief, are ya alright in there? I knowv storms freak ya out an I vwanna let ya knowv that I'm here if ya need me." Kankri hears Cronus speak through the door and a loud clap of thunder makes him yelp.
"Please, come in, Cronus." Kankri managed to speak, not even sure Cronus could've heard. But, after a moment, the door opens and Cronus walks in. The taller trolls sits down on the bed and hesitates before wrapping his arms around the shorter troll.
"Just relax, babe. I'm here for ya. Listen to my voice and not the storm." Cronus speaks softly and Kankri found it rather easy to listen to his smooth voice.
Especially as Cronus began to sing.
"She works at nights, by the water. She's gone astray, so far away from her father's daughter. She just wants a life for her baby, all on her own, no one will come. She's got to save him. She tells him, 'Oh, love, no one's ever gonna hurt you, love. I'm gonna give you all of my love. Nobody matters like you.' She tells him, 'Your life ain't gon' be nothing like my life. You're gonna grow and have a good life. I'm gonna do what I've got to do.' So, Rockabye baby, Rockabye. I'm gonna rock you. Rockabye baby, don't you cry. Somebody's got you. Rockabye baby, Rockabye. I'm gonna rock you. Rockabye baby, don't you cry. Rockabye, no."
Cronus kept on singing until Kankri fell asleep in his arms. Then Cronus just stayed there for the rest of the night, just in case Kankri woke again before the storm was over.
