ive been wanting to rate this ship for SO long but i never really got around to it for some reason???

HOWEVER. since we're getting a movie adaptation of beast (how are we feeling boys,,,) i decided that it was time to talk a bit about these two!!

ill get straight to the point - this is one of my otps. i dont know how it happened, i just,,, adore it. i love them so much!!

and just to be clear, when i say i ship them, im talking about their beast versions. im sure it could be cute in some kind of "oda survived" au in canon, but i mainly ship it in the beast universe.

man. this ship just makes me so emotional

seeing how happy beast!aku is compared to normal aku is,,, just kind of heartbreaking?? hes one of my favorite characters, so seeing a universe where things work out a bit better for him is nice and sad at the same time. like yeah, hes still pretty angsty and quiet and bitter, but hes clearly in a better place compared to his canon version. he fits in so well in the ada?? i love the beast ada crew so much, they have their own dynamic thats completely different from what we're used to, but theyre so funny and good. 

and the oda+aku dynamic??? MAN. one thing i absolutely love is how dazai says to aku during the dark era in canon bsd that he probably wouldve been much happier if someone like oda found him and raised him (or something along those lines),, and then boom, we have the beast universe. and aku IS happier with oda than with dazai. the dazaku dynamic is super interesting, but its not,,, yknow,,, healthy? wholesome? thats the point, ofc, but you know. aku both hates and worships dazai, and thats a VERY bad combo. meanwhile, oda is just akus weird uncle/older brother/mentor who drags him around. their dynamic is so good,,, just look at this shit,,,,,, potato sack aku,,,,

but, yes! lets talk about the actual ship

im sure that, like, 99% of the fanbase prefer them platonically. like i just said, oda is kind of like an older brother or uncle to aku, and personally i really love that. so i absolutely LOVE it platonically!! but i shamefully also love them romantically.

look, i dont even really know how it happened?,,,, i just stumbled upon a really cute and fluffy one-shot (ill link it in the comments👀its honestly just really cute, i recommend it) and just,,,, fell into the rabbit hole. it doesnt help that im extremely addicted to rarepairs, so thsi ship is just really up my alley. the fanart that ive seen is ADORABLE as well.

this ship is also kinda similar to odachuu in the way that its just angry bitter shortie x the calmest most stable man on earth. which is a dynamic that i just,,,, really love,,,, oda would genuinely be such a good fit for aku, platonically or romantically. hes very purehearted and kind, which is exactly what aku needs, but he can also be kinda stern when he wants to. so aku wouldnt be able to push him away in the same way that he does to atsushi, higuchi etc. 

when i think about it, aku is very,,,, cat-like. hes independent, quiet, and gets angry pretty easily. you know those cats that can be super cuddly but then randomly decide that theyre tired of you and start hissing? thats aku. thats him. ESPECIALLY in beast. and i think oda would find it endearing?? nothing can throw this man of balance, he wouldnt even be bothered.

i love them. i love beast. i love their dynamic. i love everything about this ship. sue me, i think theyre adorable.

again, i totally understand if u prefer this platonically - i think thats even the way their dynamic was meant to be interpreted as, you know?

but personally, i love it just as much romantically as platonically. one of my fave bsd ships, maybe even my favorite aku ship,,,? but yep yep, easy 10/10, let them be happy asagiri!!!
