~3rd Person P.O.V.~

A truck was speeding down a dirt road. Inside, sat Jorge and Brenda. After a couple of minutes, they soon stopped and waited for the signal. While doing so, Jorge opened his pocket watch, checking the time. "They're late." Jorge spoke up.

Brenda checked the watch on her wrist, seeing that he was in fact correct. The two waited a couple more minutes until a train horn was heard in the distance. Jorge revved up the engine as Brenda got her gun ready. Putting the scrap metals onto his window, Jorge glanced at Brenda, the two of them nodding at each other before they were off.

Driving down a hill, the truck was soon sided with a train. But not just any train. The train that held their friends inside.

Minho and Antonia.

It had been six months since the group had last seen the sarcastic duo, and they all missed them. It had also been six months since Thomas last saw his sister... Jorge speeded through the cargo sections, making it to the front. Both conductors saw the truck beside them and became suspicious. On the other side of the train, another truck was speeding towards it. Inside, sat Thomas and Vince.

"Brenda, we're coming up behind. Keep 'em busy." Thomas shouted into the radio. "Hang on!" Vince shouted to the boy. Back with Jorge and Brenda. Brenda got up from her seat, aiming her sniper at the window. Both conductor's eyes widen and ducked down when Brenda shot. Quickly, she got back into her seat as Jorge let out a laugh.

Soon, Wicked guards started coming out of the train, shooting at the two. Luckily, Jorge was able to dodge the shots as he moved the truck away, shooting a couple of times through the scrap metal covering the window. "Hey, Brenda, you got company!" Brenda heard Thomas exclaim over the radio. "Go, go, go!" Brenda yelled over to Jorge while looking over her shoulder at the berg that was trailing after them.

Suddenly, they started shooting at the two. Jorge was able to dodge the gunfire, driving away from the train, the berg close on their tail. "Thomas, you're on your own. Don't die." Brenda called over the radio. "Good luck!" Thomas called back. After leading the berg away from the train for a couple of minutes, the truck drove over a hill as Jorge let out an excited cry, Brenda doing the same.

"We got 'em! We got 'em!" Jorge exclaimed as he started swerving the truck around. The two made it to a dead-end, swerving the truck around, making them now face the berg. "Step out of the vehicle with your hands up." A masculine voice ordered from the berg. Jorge and Brenda glanced at each other, hopping out of the truck as Wicked guards jogged out of the berg, their guns aimed at the two. The two held their hands up in surrender, walking forward.

"Stop right there. Don't move." One guard ordered as he aimed his gun at them. Brenda and Jorge, simultaneously, took a step back, making the guards step closer. "I said freeze, asshole!" The guard exclaimed in anger. Jorge shrugged innocently. "Whatever you say, Hermano."

Brenda smirked at them, wiggling her fingers. Suddenly, the floor beneath some of the guards went away. The two quickly brought out their guns, aiming them at them, while Frypan and some others came out of their hiding place, shotguns in their hands. Frypan cocked his, aiming it at one of the guard's heads. "Y'all don't wanna do that now."

"Hey, Fry." Brenda greeted the boy, smiling. "Good to see you guys." Frypan greeted back. "Go on, back up." Back in the berg, the driver still sat in the driver seat, now looking out the window, seeing what was happening. Quickly turning around to stop it, he was met with a gun in the face.

Harriet stood there, smiling while staring at the man in front of them. Harriet, who held the gun, slowly cocked it, turning the safety off. "Hi." The girl said smiling, her honey voice laced with poison. The group had gotten ahold of the berg, now flying back to the train. Once they made it, they saw Thomas, Newt, and some others on top, while Vince stood at the bottom. "Alright, boys, we're here!" Jorge shouted in excitement. Brenda was quick to run to the button, pressing it, revealing an anchor lowering down to Newt, who finally got the anchor ahold on the train.

"Go, go!" Thomas shouted up to them. "Alright, we're clear!" Frypan called to Jorge. "Okay, we're going up." Jorge started flying the berg upwards.

Before the berg could fly away with the cargo, Vince quickly got onto it. Once they were away from the Wicked guards, Thomas started cheering. "Yeah!" Thomas shouted in excitement, meeting Newt's gaze from across the train compartment. They ran to each other and hugged smiling and whooping. He would do anything to find Minho and Antonia, and if it made Newt happy, then it made him happy, too.

Thomas's POV

We all made it back to base before Newt started working on opening the cargo door. Once he was done, I eagerly opened it, walking through. Many innocent kids were chained up. Newt followed behind me, searching for Minho and Antonia, as well.

I walked to Aris and Sonya before moving on, still looking for Minho and my sister. "It's okay. You guys are safe." Thomas assured everyone. "Alright? Just hang on."

We finally made it to the end of the cargo, and Minho and Antonia weren't in sight. "Thomas?" I heard a broken voice say. I quickly turned to see Antonia huddled up against the wall her face and arms all bloody. I let out a broken sob before rushing to her and hugging her. Newt also came over and we all just sat there, crying and holding each other. After a while, we all got up.

Antonia slowly turned to face me and Newt

"He's not here." She said sadly.

Thomas's POV

I leaned against a pillar as I watched the kids we just rescued walk more into our base. Vince stood in the front, preparing for his speech.

"Come on in, guys!" He called. "Alright, listen up. I know you've all been through hell. I wish I could say our troubles are over. But we're not through this yet. Wicked's still out there. They're not giving up. Cause you got something they want. They took you because you're immune to a plague that's wiping out the human race. And they think you're worth sacrificing to find a cure. Well, I don't. So in two days, when we get this tub of rust seaworthy," Vince gestured to the large ship behind him, "we're getting the hell outta here. We're gonna go to a place where Wicked will never find you. A place you can start over. A place you can call home."

I walked away, not listening to the rest of Vince's speech. There was no way I was leaving without Minho. I wasn't gonna leave him behind. I wouldn't leave anybody behind. Taking off my gear, I walked by Jorge and Brenda, meeting Brenda's eyes. I smiled softly at her before she was out of sight.

Thomas's POV

I sat in a room beside Newt. Antonia, Harriet, Frypan, and Brenda were there, as well as Aris and Sonya. Sonya was tending to Aris' wounds, making him whimper slightly in pain a couple of times. "Here, drink this." Harriet handed them glasses of water. Aris quickly took a sip. "Took you guys long enough to rescue us."

"It's good to see you, too, bud." I patted his leg. "So what happened?" "I fought back." Aris chuckles slightly. "Tried to, anyway." "You're lucky you found us at all." Sonya spoke up. "They had us on the move a lot. It felt like something big was happening." "Any idea where they were heading?" Newt questioned.

"All I know is they kept talking about a city." Aris informed. We all glanced at each other, confusion shown upon our faces. "I didn't think there were any cities left." Harriet guessed. "That's because there aren't," Brenda spoke up. "Not still standing, anyway." "Okay, wait. What about Minho? Why wasn't he on the train?" I asked the two.

Aris and Sonya shared a look before Aris responded. "I'm sorry, Thomas. He was." "He got taken off just before you lifted the train off. They tried to take me too but I got free. Not quick enough to save Minho though." Antonia said, her voice shaking and cracking towards the end. I went over to her and put my arms around her.

In the evening, back in the Scorch, the train was still where it was when the teenagers left it. On the side, walked Janson and a man beside him.

"They got forty, maybe fifty kids." The man started. "We're still compiling an official count, but the pilot got a good look. He thinks it was them." "Of course it was them." Janson shot back in annoyance and frustration. "What about the Berg?" The man sighed before replying, "We tracked it a few miles away. But someone must have known about the locator. They're totally off the grid." the two stopped in front of the other cargo section.

Wicked guards stood at the doors, scanning the immunes before putting them in line. Janson glanced over at the kids, his gaze stopping on a particular one. "We're searching the area, but they're probably long gone by now." The man informed as Janson walked towards the line of kids, his gaze still on the one.

"Oh, no, they're not going anywhere." Janson smirked as the boy looked up at the sound of his voice, revealing the face of Minho. "They didn't get what they really wanted."

~Thomas's P.O.V.~

Standing in a room with Vince, Antonia, Newt, Frypan, and Brenda, I slammed the map on the table, pointing at a certain spot. "There, that's it. It's a few hundred miles. Based on the railways, everything that Aris told us, that's gotta be where they're headed. That's where they're taking Minho." I explain. "We take everyone who can fight. Follow the roads where we can. We can make it back within a week."

"A week?" Vince questioned in disbelief. "It took us six months to get here. We got over a hundred kids here now. We can't just hang out here forever after what we just pulled. You wander off to some random point on the map. You don't even know what's there."

"I do." A voice called out. We all snapped our heads to the voice, revealing Jorge slowly walking in, hands in his pockets. "It's been a few years, but I've been there. The Last City. That's what Wicked called it. It was their whole base of operations. If that city is still standing, that's the last place you wanna go, Hermano. That's the lion's den." Jorge warned.

"It's nothing we haven't done before." I objected. I felt a hand on my shoulder, making me look and see Antonia standing beside me. "Thomas is right." "Yeah, with months of planning, and reliable information, the element of surprise, none of which we have now." Vince ignored Antonia, looking straight at me.

"Vince, I've thought this through. Would you just hear me out?" I tried. "The last time we went off half-cocked... I lost everything." Vince shouted over me. "You remember that? Look, I know it's Minho. Alright? But you can't ask me to put those kids on the line for one man. I won't do it." We all stayed silent as the radio behind Newt went staticky.

"Searching the grid now." A masculine voice spoke over it. "A is completed. Scanning B-sector now."

"Shit." Antonia mumbled. "Hit the lights." I exclaimed. "Let's go, let's go!" Jorge called out. Everyone went to hide while Antonia, Vince, and I ran outside, watching a helicopter search the place, not too far from us. "Jeez, they're getting close." Vince commented. "You're right." I spoke up. "We can't stay here." Vince rubbed my shoulder a little before leaving. Antonia pulled me into him, rubbing my back as I gripped her shirt.

Thomas POV

Everyone was now asleep as I had packed a bag, all dressed, ready to leave. I cautiously and slowly walked past Brenda's hammock, making my way outside. As I finally made it outside, zipping up my bag, walking down the stairs, a familiar voice spoke up in the darkness.

"Where do you think you're going then?" They turned on the light, revealing Antonia and Newt standing there, staring at me. I sighed. "Newt, Antonia" "Don't be a twat about it." Newt commented. "We're already in." Antonia walked forward, grabbing my bag from me. "Come on." "No." I objected. "No, not this time. Look, even if we find Minho, there's no guarantee we make it back from this."

"Well, you'll need all the help you can get then, won't you?" Antonia said as Newt opened the car door, revealing Frypan on the other side, smiling at me. I scoffed slightly, a small smile on my face while shaking my head in disbelief. "Well, we started this together. May as well end it that way, too." Newt said. "Okay." I gave in. "Let's go get him back."
